Hey guys,
I've completed my SS2 run on impossible difficulty. The time is around 41:40, using 28 segments.

Now, I'm wondering whether to just make a single avi out of all those parts. Also, since it wasn't possible to record the loading screens, I think it would be best to just cut out the blank video data, so that it would seem that there wasn't any loading in the first place. That's okay, I hope?

UPDATE:

The second run is done.

http://files.filefront.com/SShock2_run_3611_by_Lictoravi/;4302204;;/fileinfo.html

36:11 using 27 segments, mostly between bulkhead transfers. They're all joined together and loading screens were cut out as only sound was recorded anyway. Enjoy!

WOW System Shock 2 !!! great game !!! cant wait for the VID ;DDDD
aw crikey!
This should be fun. I'm split over whether to re-encode as a single file though, especially since there are so many segments.
omfg... 28 segment for 40min...

this look mor ethat a save state run then a 'normal' run Tongue
XXY
If you have more segments, odds are you aren't going to run into too many mistakes.
41 minutes in 28 segments... Please make a single avi file. Tongue Make sure there's no a/v desync after joining.
SS2 = difficult
SS2 on impossible = very difficult
Speedrunning SS2 on impossible = exremely difficult  Grin

You won't believe how many times I had to try most segments. Many are even hard to get through alive.
Anyway, I'm doing the whole run again because I found some optimizations, plus I've picked up too much stuff in the first run.
Video uploaded. Bump!
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
woah!!!

36:11 for singleplayer!! on IMPOSSIBLE!!!

My mate and I could only get a best of 30:30 on multiplayer co-op!!

This download queue is killing me!

Thanks for the video though! VERY keen to see it!

Cheers

Why is Filefront so terribly slow? Can't wait to see that run  Tongue
aw crikey!
This is gonna be awesome. I have trouble beating Impossible by grabbing every single cyber module, let alone speedrunning it. :-P Downloading now.

That is beautiful. Everything I've ever hoped for (and some more tricks to boot) was thrown in for good measure. Now about that sub 30 minute easy run... Wink
A Crab
Excellent run.  I don't think this should be labeled "Death abuse" because you're simply making use of the bio-reconstruction machines.  I especially enjoyed the speed boosting out of the big SHODAN cutscene.

Argh, why does Filefront have to suck so much? Sad It's Fileplanet all over again, the only difference is you don't have to register yet.

Anyway, can't wait to see. This is one of my most favorite games ever. Smiley

Edit: I watched it and wow. Half the time, I had NO idea what the hell was going on. Very nicely done. I just wished you had added the game's final cutscene to the end of the video to wrap things up, but I guess that would have just made it needlessly bigger.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Haha that was good to watch.

I loved grabbing the card through the window on command.
and my next favourite part was using psi teleport to cheap the rocket raising puzzle on the rickenbacker.

You do it.  8)
Anyway, 3 of the tricks used I didn't come up myself with, but "liberated" them from your trick list.  Grin

-crouching under railings
-stupid cyborg
and the grenade launcher version of jumping into shodan. Works with lvl 4 heavy, sharpshooter OS and a lvl 2 launcher minimum only, though.

Nice run! Loved the bit where you killed yourself from fall damage... very comical. Smiley
Your almighty lordship
The tricks are in public domain :P. I don't think I'll ever pull off a System Shock 2 run myself. Things like the teeth room, SHODAN skip, rocket abuse, etc. are just awesome.
aw crikey!
One question about this run: At about 7:30 you go to the engine core for the first time and the crate has already been hacked. Did I miss something?

Ah, downloading now - can't wait to see what you've done here. Beating the game on Impossible difficulty is tough to accomplish - congrats!

Just watched the video - nice work! You've got some nice tricks. Didn't know you could skip SHODAN w/ a speed booster.

I just watched the video and yeah, that's really weird! I've checked my 2 savegames before and after that open crate, and in both of them it is closed. I've never opened that crate in any of my run attempts, so this is some kind of bug. I've also noticed that when I go back to engineering from my hydro-1 savegame, the "radiated" green light effects are on again, and if I open the crate, the left side will open (instead of the right, like in the video..).
aw crikey!
Weird. I've definitely experienced the extra lighting thing myself, but never the magical crate opening. Fortunately, it's really early in the run, so I'll try to reproduce it and see what happens.
Jack of all Trades
I've never played the game and I'm very, very confused. I liked the fucked up voices motif, though.

"We can feel you moving inside of us and we do not like it."

That's what SHE said.
aw crikey!
Yeah, this run skips the vast majority of the SS2 plot. Here are some things that may not be obvious to the casual viewer:

* The rooms with hand icons are respawn points - there is technically no death abuse in this run, although there's lots of intentional dying to avoid backtracking.
* Weird dislocations later on in the run are due to the "teleport" psi power, which teleports you back to a marker you set previously.
* The part where he stares at the floor is a well-known but very difficult trick to skip a four-minute cutscene. The final boss battle involves a similar use of avoiding event triggers.
* The run makes liberal use of hotkeys - that "pshhhh" sound you hear is an item being used.
Very impressive video I give it a strong 8 out of 10 (due to the segments of course) really good job Cheesy
