Hmm I thought he would just go with when you have full control as you don't have full control, just movement before the cutscene is over. Anyway thats the decision and you are doing most of them again so.. I haven't got swat 4 installed at the moment but it doesn't seem like theres much you can do if action doesn't work. Like I said it appears you don't have full control, hopefully some other people can help you experiement and maybe find a way around it.

Well, I'll try to utilize the glitch to the max.  If later on they decide to not count it until full control is had, then all the better.  If not, oh well--I'm only competing with myself right now.

I just recorded Food Wall at a time of 1:08 (from the end of the load screen) using the early-glitch (if timing wasn't started until post-intro, then it'd be about 1:00).  I waited by the door for a few seconds before I could open it, but luckily the screen opening up from wide to full is an awesome visual cue that I'm full control.  I found my team was even further behind me and tended to listen to me even less (if that's even possible, the bastards).  I'll convert the video and youtube it tonight if I can.  This 1:08 matches my best time for non-glitch-post-intro run.

This game goes from me not even looking at it for months, and now it's consuming my life again, haha.
It's been a while since I've played this game and I have too much on my plate to track it down and install it now, so forgive me if I'm misremembering, but I do have one thought. If I remember rightly, you can take control of the camera on each of your teams, aim it at stuff and give orders, allowing total remote control of your teams. I was surprised not to see this taken advantage of in a speedrun; I would've thought that the most effective approach for most levels would be to split your squad into two or three and control everything remotely. The only issue would be reporting people to TOC (I don't think you can do that through the squad camera).

I tried using that in normal play and it irritated the hell out of me.  It all depended on where your crew was looking.  Ideally, they'll be looking right at a target or a gun that you can get them, but I always had bad luck with that.  I would think that trying to move hastily, it's too much of a liability to risk a run on it since I barely have luck when I'm not rushing through a game.  Believe me, I did question their use when I started this project up, but it never really won me over.

I just recorded level 2 - Fairfax Residence with the early-glitch.  Post-load-time = 0:57-58 seconds, if taken as post-intro-time = 0:51.  I still cuffed the mother myself since at that early in the stage, my team is nowhere near me.  By the time I finished with her, they were right there, so I used them to tie down the rapist while I got a hallway ahead for a few saved seconds.

Fun note: On one of my mess-up runs for this level, I tasered the victim in the head when I realized the run was shot and she proceeded to thank me. Hahaha.

EDIT: So since it was a while since I tried rocking out the windows, I gave it another go.  You have to press one button to get on their screen, then another to control it.  When in control, you can move their line of sight 360-degrees, which is nice.  You can't do quick commands though, which takes a few more seconds of right-clicking and hoping you hit the right one in a hurry.  And as you suspected, you can't TOC through the window.  I was actually hoping to use this in the Fairfax Residence by leaving a team with the mother, and another team with the rapist while I kept running through for the last girl, then just TOC them all at the end.  But, nope.

Alright, both of the first levels are posted on Youtube.  Lemme know what you think.

Nice redos  Wink

I tried to find the function/command for deploying csgas but i think it's not that simple, so the only way i can show you is this:
go to Settings > Game controls > Classic Command Interface (it's a radio button).

This will make the numberkeys to act for the radio menu system, and function keys to switch between weapons.

And if you want to throw a csgas, write this to the User.ini
G=CommandOrEquip Row_NumberKeys 11 | OnRelease CommandOrEquip Row_NumberKeys 4
G=CommandOrEquip Row_NumberKeys 11 | CommandOrEquip Row_NumberKeys 4 | PlayerCommandInterfaceBack
Just press it only once.

How to make your binds:
To use the first 10 radio command (above the deploy), you just simply use
G=CommandOrEquip Row_NumberKeys N
where N is equal to the number next to the radio button (except for the "0" which comes after the 9th radio command, you have to use CommandOrEquip Row_NumberKeys 10 for it). That's why the deploy menu has the number 11.

For deploy commands:
G=CommandOrEquip Row_NumberKeys 11 | CommandOrEquip Row_NumberKeys N | PlayerCommandInterfaceBack
where the number N is equal as earlier told. PlayerCommandInterfaceBack is used to go back to the main radio menu. If you wouldn't use it, then you would have to press backspace after every deploy radio message to use basic radio messages like restrain.

Yeah redos are much better, keep it up!

OlikA, can you figure out how to bind having a team breach, gas, and clear a room?  If I can bind that to a button on my mouse, it'll prevent a lot of stalls and bad runs from me not selecting the right feature in my right-click on the run.  Plus, if they just breach (which I'm unsure of if they're able to do since the door wasn't checked and found to be locked... but who knows) then it'll save me the headache of my team not going through a locked door without a second command to do it.

That wouldn't violate any SDA rules, would it?  If so, then I'll just suffer.

I tried to find the radio commands but i think it's not that easy, cause SWAT4 uses functions for it. I mean, if you targeting a door and make a "fall in" ocmmand, than the game do something like this:
PendingCommandTeam.DeployThrownItemAt(Level.GetLocalPlayerController().Pawn, PendingCommandOrigin,Slot_Flashbang,GetLastFocusLocation(),SwatDoor(PendingCommandTargetActor));
and i don't think so that this would be legal for SDA (binding stuffs like that).

But binding stuffs like i earlier posted should be accepted (cause aliases and multiple commands to one bind is a built-in feature to swat4, and the use of binds and aliases are strongly recommended by the developers as well).

So i can only help you if you use the old "classic" radio menu system.

Ah, thanks for trying.  I was looking through one of those ini files and saw the commands but it felt like SDA-illegal territory.  I guess I'll just suffer with trying to bash the proper commands.

Oh, and I found out that you can die before the intro-speech is even done.  I ran forward into a wall on level 3 and a guy from 100-feet away capped me off pretty easy while the chick was still blabbing.  I hate the accuracy on this difficulty... It's retarded.  Especially when they bust out with automatic rifles Sad  I got really lucky on my original run because there's no one outside or in the small bathrooms to the right at the beginning.  And I also don't have to go into ANY of the cargo rooms.  I don't remember this level being so damned finicky when I recorded it last time.  Maybe I'm just seeking too much perfection... who cares, I'll keep doing it and bash out something good eventually.

Alright, after a multiple-month hiatus, I'm back at this blasted project.  I'm trying out the Classic menu on level 3 to see how it goes.  Initially, it was a bitch, since I was so used to the fast new-style right-click menu, but when I started binding the entry commands to my multi-button mouse, it shows it's worth.  It definitely saves some headaches of quick mouse slides on the new menu as well as a second or two.  The problem is that my brain is still functioning with the controls I've been playing with for ages.  The big question is: do I risk even more and more hours of playing/screwing up to save 5 seconds total?  I'll keep at it to see if I start getting the knack for it or if I'll just go back to what I was using before.

A thing I don't like about the Classic menu is how much of the screen it takes up.  It's translucent enough to see through in well-lit areas, but when baddies are hiding in shadows, I'm screwed pretty easily.

About the menu I don't know if it makes much difference, but whatever you're faster with. I doubt it would take much getting used to, a few hours and you should have it.

I would keep attempting if I could improve a level by 5 seconds, it will be worth it when you get it.

So after many, many retires on the gas station (level 3) I've managed to get a run that I like.  I forgot how many out of the way places people can spawn, wasting precious time.  The old run was 2:17ish (including intro screen) and this one is 2:07 (using the intro glitch).  I had a small hiccup with my zip-ties switching to my gun because my mouse wheel is starting to randomly stutter, but it wasn't bad.  4 out of 5 times, there's no one in the bathrooms, so to save time, I bypass them completely at the start of the run.  The way I circle the interior, it allows me to slid right back out without much of a hitch in the event that someone decides to spawn there.  I did end up using the Classic menus, so that caused a lot of retries at the start since my fingers wanted to do a lot of different things at times, but it's alright now.  I'll likely use the Classic menu in some other levels if they're menu-heavy ones.  It's nice to bind Breach-Gas-Clear or telling my teammates to Deploy-Tazer to a single mouse button is just oh so nice.

I'm encoding, so I'll edit with the youtube link.

EDIT:

PS I'm hoping I've got my Fraps files (or even the converted files) of the first two level redos, because they're not on my external HDD...  Otherwise the only thing I've got is the youtube ones.  Meh, I'll check in the morning.

EDIT2:  Found them hidden on my secondary HDD.  Allllllright.

Wow, I forgot how damn glitchy the scripts are in the A-Bomb Nightclub.  The team listens to me literally only about 50%.  It's utterly pathetic.  To make my mind even more crazy, my mouse wheel is jittery and flickering sporadically.  Even out of the game, browsing simple pages is a chore.  I'll likely be ordering a new one, as I'm doubting it's anything software wise.  Another problem I'm randomly experiencing (thankfully seldomly though) is massive lag every 3-4 seconds while recording.  It springs up every once and awhile, and doesn't stop happening unless I restart the computer.  My RAM still has another 2gb free for Christ's sake, so I have no idea what's causing that.

I had a decent run of the level, but I missed an amazing amount of 4 TOCs throughout the level.  I don't know how the hell that many slipped by--maybe random semi-dead people in back rooms or something.

Bah!

First question that comes to mind is: Have you defragmented your drives? Especially the one where Fraps is on and the one where you record on.

I did it the other day. Undecided
Got enough space? Maybe hardware is getting old/damaged/corrupted etc.? Bad harddisk/filesystem?

Try a different Fraps version maybe? Although the one you've been using didn't cause problems at first, right? Makes me believe that there's a problem with hardware.

Can't think of much else Undecided

I really don't get why the team doesn't listen to you. It's been a while since I have played it but I remember them sometimes not listening.

I guess you need a new mouse and in terms of computer performance, you could do a reformat. A less drastic measure would be to follow microsoft advice for the issues you are experiencing.
rawr
The team not listening to me is nothing new, believe me.  Having to play levels easily 5000+ you easily see how terrible some of the scripts are when it comes to team commands.  Sometimes my guy will simply say "Gold", "Blue", or "Red" with no commands after that, despite clearly choosing an option; the team then just sits there.  It usually keeps happening often after it starts with those errors.  A restart of the game usually fixes it.  But overall, it's something I've learned to get used to, since the patch didn't fix it and it's obvious there won't be any more.  Still sucks though.  With some levels, it seems to happen more frequently, A-Bomb being one of them.

I don't think anything hardware wise is wrong with the HDD as I haven't experienced any other problems with anything else (and I was playing Fallout 3 psychotically for a long time).  I still have another 150GB free on my Fraps drive, and I just reformatted and installed Windows 7 about 3 months ago, so a new format shouldn't be due yet.  I really wonder if it's simply coding in the game that may react with Fraps every once and awhile.  Just like the team not listening, I'll have to live with it being an occasional occurence (though more dramatic and less frequent).

Well hopefully I won't see you crying in this thread about how you were 10s away from finishing the last level and got a massive lag spike which ruined everything : O . I do believe it's the case that, as you say, when things are going OK then it's OK; sometimes though you get a spell of bad luck.

That's possible, I'm working on a project where the same kind of thing happens. Then suddenly it starts lagging a lot and I need to stop the recording and start it again to fix it, and that's because of the game itself.
rawr
Well, I'm going to either be RMA'ing my mouse or just buying a Razer mouse.  I tried one out at Future Shop and was surprised how much I liked it.  So I probably won't be getting any/many things into this thread for a bit.  Hopefully I'll be back at it soon enough.  The flickering wheel was killing my sanity, and ended up making my runs look like I'm making way more mistakes than I would have.
