Was wondering how people felt of IL smw runs similar to this table in SMW2 (http://speeddemosarchive.com/YoshisIsland.html#IL )

It may be a good way to encourage people to grind down some of the current levels and uncover new strats - to try and top the current any% / 100% World record runs which are both extremely fast! thumbsup

To discourage spam caping over levels - there could be small mario which could serve as a low%.

Just a thought, any other ideas/comments?

We have SMB3 IL's that are small mario only.  Low%/Any%/100% doesn't apply for IL's but for the whole game run.  IL's for SMW would just be small mario.  That, at least, is the trend...

Pre and post switch palaces could be two categories for that stage if it would change the route, and you would have to start each stage with no items but could pick up whatever you want.

Can anybody poke a hole in that?

Cool i didn't know about the smb3 ILs. Where are they? - I didn't come across a thread.

It would be nice to have a table of 96 but some are silly, and then yeah theres the whole switches^ problem.  I would be all for fastest completion - but there are some levels like Special World - Outrageous that would be way more exciting without cape.

I like the idea of start small then do what you want.. Also its probably implied since this is SDA, but to have the records be fastest RTA not in game time. Often the two do not go hand in hand.

The consensus in IRC seems to be 'all switches, bring in no items' would be the best and most consistent way to do it, since it can be applied across all levels.

But a level like Donut Ghost House secret exit requires having a cape going in.

For what my opinion's worth, and it might be nothing, I say always choose rules that provide the most entertaining content, not arbitrarily "complete" runs. Personally, I would much rather see only 90% of the levels done capeless, rather than simply caped over just so a table can be a little bit neater.

Edit:Why not just have a rule that you can only start off with what is necessary to complete the exit(to satisfy the haunted house where you must start with cape), and that you can only pick up what you need to complete the exit.

If we would accept this, it would be an all levels table not an all exits table. For each level, use whatever exit is fastest while still following the conditions already laid out.
