Now, I'm going to go on with my 61-Star Run. Either:
A. I will go through my Segmented run.
or
B. I will cancel my Segmented Run and go through an SDA Submitted SS run.
My SS run route is what yoshifan's segmented route is but in SS.
I'm not sure if I'm going to continue Segments 6-18  on my Segmented Run or cancel the Segmented and go to SS.
Not really much to say left about what this reply is about.

EDIT::::
Sorry for Triple Posting Now! I'm getting distracted!

Segmented FTW!

I'm going to pick whichever I might do, but you can pick whatever you think I should do.
SUGESTIONS:
Mystery: A: Segmented
Of course it's up to you. That's whhy I suggested segmented.
I'll be happy to see a run either way. And I think you will be happy whichever you choose.

Good luck then.

Thanks.
Mainly Segmented is faster, because:
Starting a new segment after Honeyhive Cosmic Mario Race makes it faster, because:
Walking from the Terrace to the Kitchen takes 11 seconds.
Starting a new segment always ends up on the white circle.
Walking from the white circle to the kitchen takes 6 seconds.
But I'll take SS anyway, even trough Segmented is faster.
Segmented is always faster since it can be optimized further!
But in some people's eyes, an SS is more impressive, mainly due to the skill and patience needed to get it done, I suppose.
But I am mostly a fan of segmented, myself.
Still, Segmented or SS, it should be fun interesting nonetheless, so good luck to you and may the gods smile on your run.

Dear Mystery,
I'll be a while until I start my run, because:
It's going to be submitted to SDA, I have to practice some of the super-shortcuts.
I have to practice doing the run without mistakes, because if I make mistakes, I'll be a long time to submit it to SDA, I will cut out the mistakes of the run, and put them into a new Segment, I like to call:
Segment 0.
That is the Segment all I show is my outtakes.
"Good luck" Is the nicest thing to say when I'm planning on doing a run.
But, I'm wondering If anyone else has comments about my luck.
Anywho, thanks for all of the stuff about what you think! A Suggestion, and mostly... the other 2 posts...
Thanks,
Wellbe6
Guess what! I'm going to do an 120 star run, well, as soon as I make and account, I will. Have to practice first, Using Wellbe6's route.

Making a real account
SMG 120 Star Run
SM64DS TAS 50 Star Run
Maybe a SMG 2 star SS run if the glitch is true
Yeah! Go! Go! Go!
A 120-star run is even sweeter than a 60-star one
Of course, I'll still watch both of them. Good luck to you, too, on your run. Keep us updated!  Cheesy
1-Up!
I hope you didn't get your hopes up too high, Mystery.
Nah.
I don't expect anything. That way, I never get disappointed. Works very well actually.
Just saying it would be nice to see them.

But you have to cheer people on, you know? Cheering for them gives them motivation, and motivation keeps them going, and in the end, runners produce a nice result for both themselves and fans. If everything turns out right, at least.
It's psychology Wink
Segment 8 (possibly)

Well, here's some sign of life at least.  Though, I'm not entirely sure if I should keep the segment.  In Spooky Sprint I was hoping for a 38, but made an error or two and got 39.66 (my best is 37.81, but I don't really expect 37), and I had a bit of trouble getting the star.  In Airship Armada, I got hit on the boat ride because I managed to get distracted.  This wasted no time, but... it still kind of gives off the feeling that I messed up.

The rest of the segment felt solid to me, and the above mistakes cost about 2-3 seconds overall.  The problem is that they look kind of cringe-worthy, though.  I know people expect high quality from segmented runs, so should I keep the segment?
Fucking Weeaboo
Well, since you can backup your Wii save files, might as well just back up the good save, and try redoing Seg 8 some more.  If you decide that it's not improvable, just put back on the save you backed up and continue on.
VG has it right. Keep the save and keep trying, but if you can't beat it, it's worth keeping. 2 and a half lost seconds isn't worth throwing the segment out and the hit really doesn't matter.
Hmm, I think I'll do that then.  I have to say I was a little impatient about getting the segment done, but after cooling down a bit, I'm more willing to give it another try now.  I do think it'll be hard to improve realistically, though, but we'll see.
SDA Apprentice -- (3-1)
I just finished watching the segment, and I would have to agree with the two before me...

Personally, I would keep the segment, but if you think you can improve on it (spooky sprint), then by all means, go for it... granted though I think this run probably would be counted by the minutes, not the seconds, so this wouldn't be too significant (in my opinion)...

As for the shot you took on the airship, I wouldn't really be too concerned about it...  As you said, getting hit didn't waste any time at all... I probably could have thought that it was you getting hit just for the lols, or to just to mess around...  You can look at a few speed runs and see there are others that either get hit or mess around at times that they can't do much (i.e. Satoryu using the Rasetsusen Glitch to fly into space when moving in to a boss fight)...
Visually Appealing
It doesn't look too bad to me. 3 seconds lost in a 9 minute segment is like nothing.
General Kong - Bullets and Bananas
If it bugs you that much, than definitely go for the improvement.  If not...

This
what DK28 said.  How long have you worked on this segment?  i'd say give it a few more goes, but only if you're not completely sick of it already.  There's been a few times where i've had a decent segment with 1-2 small mistakes, and i contemplate on keeping it ... then i go for a few more tries and get a perfect attempt in like 15 minutes Wink

but it's up to you ... either way your fine
SDA Apprentice -- (3-1)
it seems that yoshifan didn't take long on getting segment 8 redone...

As his description states, he improved the seqment by a second (or about 1.4 seconds), having a "slowish" first half in the ghostly sprint and he also was able to avoid getting hit a during the airship sequence this time...

So overall, it has slight improvement, but he said he is going to continue on...

You're almost halfway there... keep up the great job...
Segment 8

Um... yeah.  Thanks MAS!  I just wanted to post that easy-to-find link, but other than that there's not much to add to what you said.  It's not a big improvement, but at the very least, being able to compare two close segment attempts is kind of cool.  Tongue

Thanks for the input, everyone!  Now I'm really confident that I can move on.

Segment 9 is Bedroom segment #1.  It'll probably have the five Gusty Garden stars (Bunnies, Major Burrows, Gravity Scramble, Burrows' Daredevil, Golden Chomp) and one other non-Bowser star.  I was tempted to get Bowser out of the way sooner rather than later, but actually, I'll want to open the Engine Room later when I have more stars.  That way I'll unlock all three Engine Room galaxies at once, which will decrease the number of "new galaxy appeared" messages.

Also, I'd like to make a video showing my current strategy for the end of Ghostly 6 - Matter Splatter Mansion (which is in Segment 10).  It's a pretty interesting level, so I'd like to get the ideas out there and see if anyone can find faster or easier strategies.
I look forward to Segment 9, if only because Gusty Garden Galaxy is my favorite setting in any Mario game. I'm sure the gameplay will be very nice as well though.  Wink
I made a video showing some ideas for Matter Splatter Mansion:

The route in clip 2 is the one I'm currently planning to use in the segmented run; it's tricky, but I think it's manageable at the beginning of a short segment.  The route in clip 1 is probably suitable for a single-segment run.  If anyone feels like trying, I'm wondering if there's a faster strategy than the one in clip 2 (clips 3 and 4 offer some vague ideas).  Or, if not, I'm curious to know if there's a faster *safe* strategy than the one in clip 1 (for the future single-segment runner, whether that's me or someone else).

Well, now that I have this video out, I'm going to see how much I can figure out for Segment 9 before I become busy again.  School resumes on Tuesday for me. Sad
Heylo everyone. I was just wondering if people were still interested in a Super Mario Galaxy speed run, and if they had any suggestions for me about doing the run. I don't know how long it'll take me to do, and as of this moment I don't have a recording device, but I should soon, so it won't be too much longer before I start.

Let me know if there's still interest in this game. I'd love to do the run, but (as I'm not sure if the bounty is still valid), I'm only going to attempt it if there's a few people that are still interested in seeing it.

Thanks.

Yes, many people are still interested. It would be good idea to read the topic before you start your run to learn most of the tricks that have been found.
