My feelings on The Demon Rush

Cak, I can convert VHS to DVD for you if you can't do it yourself. As many people can attest (andrewg, Breakdown), my DVD recorder is reliable and transfers well.

Thanks, but I decided to skip VHS and record straight to DVD so that the game time is more accurate. If the problem persists, I'll just look around for another recorder.

Different DVD recorder, and that was was recording straight to DVD using a splitter (it wasn't the recorder's fault, it was the splitter's >:()

I improved that run by 10 seconds so why should you care? Tongue

No matter...the video quality isn't good enough for TG, so it's not good enough for me. It'll just have to be another DVD recorder or (bleh) VCR.

AFAIK, I'm not doing anything that Andrew didn't do in his current TG record. No double jumps.

This is SDA, don't care about TG. Double jump and such should be used.

see level 1-1 in tommy montgomery's 100% run. I never understood why andrew g uses luigi in that level in his run for SDA. toad is much faster w/ double jump. pretty easy too.

It's only about half a second faster, Toad adds many more attempts when trying to get 1-1 down correctly.

And the half second would be lost at Birdo I'm guessing.

Well if there is a use for double jumps it doesn't matter, cuz I'm definitely submitting to TG if/when I get this thing recorded. I just hope I can get my hands on a better DVD recorder soonish.

I watched through andrewg magfest live attempt.

I see two new tips for me.

1: Used key against Birdo (1-2). Is this faster? Its seem faster IMO, because its take forever when Birdo spy out eggs. But though you lost time got key into pipe so hard to say is this any faster. What do you thinking?

2: Wart was awesome. Make this door appeared faster when you throw vegetable with grey colour wart?

Yes and yes. But it looks totally rad.

The only time savings comes from being able to throw the last egg at Birdo faster.

Thats 8-9 months now when cak did sub 9 minutes run. Im not are hear anything about this.

Also andrewg planning go for sub 9 minutes gameplay. I have to bumb this topic and ask do you guys are forget working on this? I personally really waiting see sub 9 minutes run sooner or later. We know sub 9 is possible because cak are did it but somereason he never did any video about this.

Honestly I haven't touched the game since Jan. My interest partially fell off because Twin Galaxies wouldn't accept DVD recording for this particular run. I'm sure I'll get around to it at some point.

Why TG not allow this? Banned glitches used?

You can try make it in SDA only if you are interested enought. Thats sad to hear you are giving up with this. I am really interesting see nearly 20 seconds faster run. Current "9:15" run is superb too.

No glitches were used. TG can accept VHS format, but not DVD, because of frame sync issues and because it's a near-perfect run of a well known game. In my opinion, VHS isn't accurate enough for timing short speedruns, but I guess it doesn't matter as long as everyone has to use the same format.

Thats weird. I am hearing about guys like Feasel he are did his Bionic commando run in TG & SDA. Verification method in TG was DVD. Also Andrewg was posted his SMB 2 9:15 run with both sites.
Do you think can SDA accept VHS runs? Though im not sure how much its lower quality and SDA wanted see runs with high quality.

Andrew's 9:15 was done on VHS as far as I know. TG is extra picky when it comes to certain games.

An entire second could probably be eliminated from the current SMB1 record, just by recording it on DVD. I highly doubt TG would accept it.

SDA is fine with either format. I'll just submit VHS to both sites when inspiration strikes, probably before 2011.

I have the opposite problem. I can't really record NES games, my DVD recorder is fine, but I need to do it on a "Toaster" style NES.

Cak, I'm pretty sure you're wrong about timing differences. I'm pretty sure there is no difference at all.
