It seems like when you fall to the left, the shyguy is going the other direction which makes it more difficult.

I think 9:15. I was very cautious though.

I could probably shave another 5 seconds from that with a bit more practice. Smiley

I'm going to work on other thigns for a bit first though. I made a lot of mistakes throughout my run though. I'm suprised I beat the record.

considering that my 5:00 smb1 run with a stopwatch was timed as 5:01.3. I assume for my 9:15, it will actually come out to be 9:14 when timed by SDA.

I think this run is going to have really bad quality. Or decent quality. I just hope it isn't too horrible.

thanks. That was a tough one to get. I know you could beat it. I dont know how soon it will be until I try to improve my run though. I have to say that your run may still look better than mine, I made a ton of mistakes. :-[

Excellent job Andrew. Very proficient ladder skills.

In 6-2, is it possible or make a difference in time if you can jump through the fireballs of the panzer? I have not tried it myself yet, but I was watching the video and wondering if anyone has looked into this.

I watching both mario runs.

Nice job Andrew and frezy man.

SMB 2 runs was insane good, yeah that sub 9 is theoretically possible, but i think it is almost impossible get. Only big mistake was it when you miss vegetable against Wart. But yeah it was pretty little mistake when everythink else going good.

SMB 3 run was very good too. It was bit borring watch because there is lot autoscroll levels, but i really can feel how nervous you are when you pass all hand levels.
8-1 and 8-2 both levels are hard beat fast enought. It was nice watching.

Keep it up guys. Hopefully we can see sub 9 min SMB 2 run and sub 10.50 SMB 3 run someday.

Thanks everyone. Honestly I thought my run looked a lot worse than it should have. My average level completions were usually much faster. 7-2 was really good for me, so I didn't want to save 5 seconds and risk losing this run.

There is a way to do that part a little faster. I don't think jumping through the fire helps. I'll be willing to improve this run after a few other speedruns.

i'm not too familiar with this game but the run looked very good as far as i could tell. i saw the minor mistakes but with some games it's more difficult to eliminate every little mistake. i was also impressed with the ladder jumping. wonder if chris knight will come back for this record. anyway, congratulations, andrew.

Now, I can't quite remember what has changed from the previous record, but...

Great job! In particular, 6-2 was amazing. Also, the bomb-timing in 1-1 was cool. It's interesting that Mario and Luigi look like freaks while shrunk, but Toad looks more normal while tiny.

Does anyone know why Toad runs faster when holding something heavy? It just doesn't make sense. ...Oh right. This is Super Mario 2 we're talking about.

thanks master. But I would be surprised if we should ever se sub 10:50... If someone else make sub 11 I would be impressed. The game is a nightmare to run Wink

And great job Andrew. Two Mario record movies in one day. Its great. I will check the run later next week when I get my own internet in my apartment.

hi folks, andrew !

i am speedrunning mario2 at the moment and watching
andrew's record, i noticed the following: In 7-1 when he enters the egg-thrower's room he runs over the first egde and lands directly on the "stone thing" (being luigi of course). But that just doesn't work for me. How are you doing this ? The last record holder didn't do it and i really can't see what kind of trick i'm missing here.

Right when I fall off I hold the A button to keep my distance in the air longer.

If you beat me, I'll definately go back for the record immediately, the last run I did was a little sloppy, so I'd like to get about 9:05 at least.

Hey all, just wanted to chime in and report that I'm gonna try for a "9 minute or less" run in the next month. I did a little more research awhile back and was able to chisel the hypothetical "perfect time" down to 8:50. I've mastered the first five levels, it's just a matter of practicing the last five levels more extensively. 6-3 and 7-2 are the most elusive, but it shouldn't be long!

Hawkmouth strangely is the main thing keeping me from perfecting 7-2, thought it was my controller but I guess it's lack of practice. The hard thing about 6-3 is nailing 2 ladder jumps in the first room.
