P1 keeps the screen moving, P2 just makes sure P1 can keep up to keep the screen moving by not falling too far behind. As long as both players play the roll each needs to do, no time is lost. If P2 is at the very back of the screen and still moving forward, no time is lost.
We each have been taking our time with each stage and currently have 2 stages fully routed (stage 1 and 3). Stage 4 and 5 are really really hard to plan out because of the lag issues of net play. So we have thrown ideas back and forth for the stages, but until we are in DC we will not really be able to practice except in solo play. Each of us know that if the climb is done well in solo, then it will be great is lag-less play with a few modifications. And this goes just the same with Contra. We have stages 1-5 fully routed. Even stage 3 we have set but the lag forces us to slow down. And we did this in just 3 sessions together. We have plenty more to look into and a lot more time for practice. The only issue I think we will have is adjusting our timing from lag to lag-less play, but that will get fixed in a matter of a few minutes of play.
PS: who plays P1 and who plays P2? I bet your wrong lol
In all honesty, we are planning to swap controllers during the run to be sure we get the proper player with the proper weapons. We are not practicing the stages yet, but it is an idea to be sure we are optimal. This idea may change as more ideas get tossed around.
This is what I have so far. I am not going to continue till I get some questions answered and I know I am not wasting my time (nothing to do with interest). I ran across an issue and I want to fix it now. I did this short bit in 2 hours, I dont want to do the whole thing and not have it work in the end.
Edit: Here is my current WIP. Posting it here because some ppl dont follow TASVideos forums.
Geez you've been plugging along fast. I didn't expect you to get to stage 3 this fast. I'll have to start TASing some of these stages myself to see if I have any suggestions for improvement, but so far this is looking great. I'm not sure whether or not any kind of manipulation might be able to cut down some of the spawn counts.
As far as updates go, I think it might be a good idea to just link people to the TAS videos forum topic and maybe you could post an encode here when you're done? http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21 But yeah this is action packed and it's great entertainment. You even remembered to get R for Fire. I'm very proud.
I am making an encode of my stage 8, but my TAS is done. I recommend watching the .fm2 file in an emulator as you will be able to see everything. Please check it out and give me your thoughts. Dont say it is good just because I made it. I want honest opinions.
Really enjoyed this being a fellow pacifist myself Heid. Shame about stage 7 requiring so many deaths, but there does not appear to be any other way. The rest was really smooth and good action, pretty cool that you did a TAS. You will now join a small group of people that are published both on SDA and TASvideos so big congrats on that man.
p.s. how come the boss kills were the same speed as your real time runs
