I hate the first level.

And a question for everyone but specially VGmr. The first boss. Was it pure luck that you could kill him with such a low amount of bombs or is it a trick involved? Because when I kill the first boss, usually, I have to use more bombs before the helicopter goes down.

My only question is whether you know about charging the F gun or not. If you don't know what I'm talking about, simply hold b for about half a second, when you let go, you'll fire a stronger F shot.

Charged F-gun is news to me too. But i usually can beat first boss as quick like Vgmr. I find easier if i stand face towards right when i kill mini cannons. This make mini cannons alot easier beat quickly.

I not use that my 16.45 run, because i didn,t know it then. But this increase alot my succesrate beat first boss quickly. These mini cannons give me already most trouble.

Stage 7 is the funniest level. At least as long as you do not get hit. I guess that is the level I am best at. It is risky though.

BTW: I want send my run to Nate before Frezyman. Because if Frezy make it before me my run can be reject or if i got it accept nobody want watch it. I using rapidshare and i send AVI file to Nate. I not sure is AVI file enought or need i VOB file with this. But i trying.

The first no death run. but it was far from perfect. I will try to get a faster one.

The reason why I did not reset in my last run on the second level was because I just wanted to get an ok. run and I was tired of that I never finished the game. And the spread gun was not far from that spot Wink

Oh, Now I see it was mike. Yes I did mixed Mike with VGmr... That crazy penguin.
If you want my opinion. Then I would not send that run. Specially now when I have a 13:35 run that bouth of us think is faster then your best. And also you believe you can do a faster run? At least, as long as you are trying. Why do you have to send the run?

Huh Frezy is crazy. My friend will send my Probotetor 2 torrent to Nate hopefully a tommorrow. I want make my run up before frezyman. Because frezy run will make my run quite bad.

BTW congrats your run this might be fucking crazy. Shocked

This looks frezy send his own runs before me, because this looks my torrent trouble is not solved yet. But i hope we both runs are still seperate category, because i am completed my own before Frezyman.

But i will promise my PAL 16.45 is 10-seconds faster than Jim, but it is at least 20 sec slower than frezy run. But i hope PAL-category is still up into site, i might try redo my time in future. But 16.45 is really hard to beat. This looks 16.25 is possible on PAL with frezy skills. This run must be so fucking awesome.

EDIT 2:
Well this looks my friend got my torrent file working all depend can Nate open it now. My run is probably up before Frezy awesome run. I really hope it is. Wink

I think my personal max goal are range 16.35 and i will try reach it yet, but this will take years & many Wii remotes. I timed i will make it max 10-sec faster. But i am really happy if i can got it 5-6 sec faster.

Peoples talking about your firing speed? This sounds your firing speed must be really fast, because if i make non stop run i will lost your 10 more seconds.

Yeah, but how you mean improve it because your run is almost perfect? Can anyone really make it like this? 13:26 (Maybe 25)

It was a nice run. a run I was looking for. I did one mistake when I missed a jump in the final level (1 sec.) Stage 2 could be improved a sec or two, maybe three. And there is some other small things that can be improved. A few tricks where a little bit better then usual though so I would have a really hard time improving this run. I could probably improve it somewhere between 5 and 10 seconds if I spend my life trying. But I will not do that.

Total attempts: 523

I practiced on an emulator before starting the attempts so I thought I knew exactly what to do. but I should had to go back practicing some levels harder. Specially the first level. only 89 of those 523 attempts got all the way to the beginning of Stage 2 Tongue

Here is where My runs failed:

Stage 1: 434 deaths.
Stage 2: 26
Stage 3: 19
Stage 4: 12
Stage 5: 5
Stage 6: 10
Stage 7: 5
Stage 8: 12

At least here is where I stopped the game. Sometimes I continued if I where close to a new Spread gun just for practice. I finished 4 games. 2 of them where no death runs.

another fun note; I finished all those attempts in about 5 days.

never saw this one. I guess I am a lot faster during the boss fights using s+r.. And I improved one of the levels with probably 10-15 seconds. You will see how, later. I will probably do audio commentary for this one. before sending it.
And this zeth guy sayed he used an emulator.

Thank you. I do not mind compare my runs with TASs. But in the case of Contra is a bit unfair Smiley

I live in a permanent apartment with really bad internet connections which does not always work. ( I use W-LAN, stealing broadband from anyone in the house who does not have a secured net ).
And the computer I use at work is secured from files and do not even have a DVD ROM. So probably I can not upload it until somewhere in the beginning of May.

My 16.45 will looks so rough compared this. But i hope this not still reject my run, because i will try improve it in future. But this not mean i can got game in 16.15. I am sure i never make it.

And only 523 attempt is not bad. I am spending at least 500 more attempt reached my 16.45.

I think I where a bit lucky get that time this fast. My speedrun for contra is tousands of attempts.
It was more fun to run the game later, My success rate for the first level where close to 50 % the last 40 attempts. And I did never die on Stage 3 when the location of all enemies where plented deep inside my soul.

a tips is to wait and watch my run. There is some strategies and tricks which will help you improving your probotector 2 record. though, I want to keep it a secret so that you have something to look forward to Wink

Heh, how long did it take to complete the SuperC run compared with the Contra run?

I think I'll try a SuperC run sometime soon too 8) I already have quite a bit of experience with that.

Ok i not want keep my run secret anymore. This looks nate not want load skype or messenger. My friend not got torrent working and file drop not want load my run succesfully.

Last reason with this is Frezy make more better run than my run or Jim run.

But overall this my new run looks 10-sec faster than mr Hanson run

Andrew: I have probably played Contra 30 times more then Super C Tongue

But that does not mean that the Contra run is 30 times better. But I have a lot more problem doing a 10:17 Contra run then a 13:26 run of Super C. That is mostly because the Base levels in Contra. Take Base 1 from my 10:17 speedrun as an example. Try to redo that... Then maybe you will understand Grin

The things is that The Contra run is far more improvable then the super C speedrun. So they are so different.

Btw. Here is a picture of my old Super C cart which where mashed during the trip to US over new year. And the new one.

HAHA... my SuperC cart is chipped TOO! That is very strange. My SuperC cartridge still works perfectly fine though. Does your broken cart work still?

I should try a bit of Contra and SuperC speedrunning later this week. I have some tests I should be studying for though. Undecided

I could not get it to work. I am pretty sure that it does not work. I tried for about twnty minutes before I gave up. There is a loose part in side of it too. I have not split the plastic box yet. Maybe do that some day.

just want to say that my super C speedrun is under verification. The run includes audio commentaries, wow.

I am trying to improve my Contra speedrun. But I just did get another 10:17 run Tongue
