My feelings on The Demon Rush
Now that the charity has been settled on (Organization for Autism Research), the big thing right now is scheduling the games.

As far as I know, the marathon is going to be roughly 60 hours. Essentia plans on starting the marathon at Thursday August 4th at noon, and ending it around Saturday/Sunday around midnightish. [strike]I don't have a schedule drafted yet, all I have is a list of games that can be in the marathon. I don't want to start scheduling until the game list is a bit more finalized.[/strike]

The Schedule

NOTE: Time is in the mountain time zone, not eastern!

https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Alb3Dj0u13H7dENuRWh2R1VPYmFNV042bnVZUUFXcFE&hl=en

I know this schedule isn't perfect, and it is subject to change. The columns are formatted so it can be easily converted to an auto-updating schedule like in AGDQ and JRDQ.

-The biggest problem is that the PC games are in a crap time slot, but I'm not too sure what to do about that..

-If we're ahead of time, then the setup hour can be either be deleted or used as a bonus hour, I don't care either way.

Before the schedule was made.

The game list: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AqE1MMCKjELpdGdpRS0wODhLZHJGOTRQMURNbzAydEE&hl=en&pli=1#gid=0

A couple of notes:

-The games are listed in alphabetical order.

-I listed almost every game people offered to run for the marathon, but there's a couple I omitted. I omitted said games for one of two reasons. The run wouldn't have been fast enough because it has been done significantly faster during another marathon or otherwise, or the game was too obscure or boring for a marathon.

-I'm aware the list is a bit long at the moment. I'll probably end up cutting a game or two unless...

...we don't play both Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. Instead, we have a bidding war for which KH game to play. The problem with this is if KH2 is chosen, then we'll need something  (either side-quest content or another game) to fill in about an hour and a half.

-I made many estimates longer than people people listed in case if something goes wrong in-game and to account for setup time.

My feelings on The Demon Rush
I have couple of comments on some of the games on the list.

Darkwing Duck: The current estimate is absurdly high for such a short game. Is your estimate even based on anything DW?

Demon's Crest: The current 100% run on the site is really outdated, and the estimate given is 20 minutes higher. I don't think the run will look good if the entire hour and ten minutes is used up.

Shadow of the Colossus: Do this run in time trial mode, this is non-negotiable. The Agro traveling sections are fun to experience for the first time, but they are not fun to watch.

Truth be told, I haven't gotten good enough to even giving a good estimate, so I gave the high time.  I have no idea how long it will actually be at the moment.  I was improving drastically during the 7-14 days I spent playing it pretty hard, so I guess now is a good time to get on it, especially since I have less time because I'm working.
Go ahead an take LittleBigPlanet2 off the list, as I'm going to be losing my PS3 access, so I have no way to practice.

However, I'm working on a Minish Cap run right now that I'd like to play for the marathon. It'll be less than 3 hours, but I don't have a good time estimate now.

I hear ya, I just GREATLY overestimated to create a buffer for possible set up and whatever else may come. I'm still working on getting a consistently average time myself, and I currently live in fear of embarrassing myself on international webcam Smiley I'll be modifying the TAS route and testing what is doable with human input and what needs to wait for a stage revisit (and buying a Ginseng for endgame security, I don't want to imagine what happens if I botch the last Phalanx fight). Feel free to chop it down to an hour.

I don't see either NESbot, or my offer to play Mega Man 3. (I clocked in at around 48 minutes, with a bit more practice I can get this down).

Theseawolf1: Done, if you struggle to beat the game in under an hour, I'm going to cut Demon's Crest.

DarkKobold: I missed your offer to play Mega Man 3, but I definitely caught your offer to demonstrate the NESBot. I've added Mega Man 3 to the list, but you should work hard on lowering your time if your best time is currently 48 minutes.

Mike:  Toejam and Earl should not take much more than a half hour.  The run was 21 minutes, and assuming that a ton does not go wrong, I would think that an extra nine or ten minutes should be enough buffer time.
@Raen: if you don't have access to your PS3, how are you and Opario doing Portal 2 co-op? I heard from him that you used a PS3 + PC.

We likely aren't, some guy, but I left it up in the air as it's still a loose possibility.

If we're short on time, I could run Mario Vs. Donkey Kong instead of DK94. They're very similar, and I should be able to do MvDK in less than an hour (plus, it has better graphics). I'm fine running either one, though...or both! Wink

For MM9, maybe there should be a donation war to see which the audience would prefer: normal or buster-only. If that becomes the case, duckfist should practice for both, rather than having him do buster-only and me doing normal, because it would be silly for him to come all the way out there and possibly not do a run.

Also, for Dynamite Headdy, is Zyre still interested in doing a race? I think that might help it draw more attention in the marathon, since it isn't as popular a game.

I don't think we need both Katamari Damacy and WLK in the same marathon, especially since KD was in the last one. I would cut KD (unless you really want both, for some reason).
@Arrow: duckfist is guaranteed to do MM10 anyway, and I've never seen him play MM9 with the powerups before. I think that is fine as is.

As for DK94 and MvDK, I went ahead and listed that as a donation battle. I know a lot of people who had Game Boys loved DK94 growing up, and since you seem to prefer running MvDK we might as well see what kind of money that battle can generate.

I removed KD as a possibility by your request.

I'm still game for a race. So if it seems like a viable option, I say let's do it!

I don't really have a preference between the two. MvDK is a little easier, imo, but I've been practicing both a lot lately, so I don't mind running either one. I think a donation war is a good idea Smiley

YEAAAHHHHH!!!!!
I mainly just wanted another game to play, since I can typically finish Mega Man 10 in just shy of 37 minutes.  Arrow, if you'd like to race MM9 I'm comfortable with that.  I only suggested doing a buster only because, for my own stubborn reasons, I prefer to play the game that way.

A bidding war between buster only or not is a great idea, simply to give incentive to donate a little extra.  I'm willing to race buster only against non-buster only too, but if you'd rather just race using items I'm cool with that too.  I just wanted a few extra minutes of air time, and MM9 is my next most impressive game to offer, I think.
that Metroidvania guy
As long as Arrow is willing to practice buster only and you're willing to practice with powerups, I think having a donation choice between what type of race to have would be awesome and the best choice. I think having buster only vs. normal run otherwise would be better than a normal race purely from a donations perspective though.

For KH2, how about All Worlds? Olympus and Space Paranoids are just revisits and don't take too long, Pride Land's should be simple enough, and Atlantica...well we can have a bidding war on whether or not to do it. I doubt anyone wants to swim this way and shake a fin, plus I think that area alone takes about half hour, what with being the most annoying mini-game driven area of the game. The extra world make the final area a little easier(due to extra bonuses/level ups obtained, plus the item in Space Paranoid's revisit that raises strength). Maybe if there's more time, the runner can face off against Sephiroth if people donate for it.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
That sounds like a good idea, Ryman. How much longer does all worlds take? It sounds like at least an hour and a half.

Shouldn't be too long. Let me go hook up my PS2 and check my memory card. I know during AQDQ I worked on unlocking Sephiroth for bonus streaming. Didn't take long just to do the 4 worlds I did(At most maybe an hour? I was mostly trying to figure out what I needed to do and all). I'll edit once I find out.

Edit 1: Ok did some checking and it took me about an hour for Pride Lands(Both visits), Olympus(Revisit), and Space Paranoids(Revisit). Since I was mostly trying to figure out what unlocked Space Paranoid's revisit and kept checking, those can be done in probably 50 minutes or less. Atlantica will take about a half hour or so, leaving not much time after that. Of course, Atlantica can always be dropped, no one will miss it.

Edit 2: JUST CALL ME AXEL!!! It feels more casual than Ryman.

If spikevegeta is coming, doing both KH games would give us each something to play (I only know KH2), though like I said in the signup thread, I'm perfectly fine being an NPC again.

You're going to be a PC, even if that just means "Pied character."
