Scenery hmm... well, many of the levels were really big and often nicely created, taking into consideration what kind of hardware developers had to play around with at that time for PC. Otherwise I just see the PC version as an underoptimized, quite bad port from the Xbox version.

I'd say that's quite a gentle expression for it. You could think they just wrapped the game into an Xbox emulator, including translation of the mouse signals into analog stick signals.

Planetfall came out 1983 and zork 1980, enjoy the text adventures, I'm sure they had a great story, but don't tell me a speedrun would be fun there.

Well "kiddy games" was not the right expression for outdated linear scripted games where you use an unprecise gamepad controller.

Try playing Mario 64 with a mouse/keyboard. Or F-Zero *. Or Metroid Prime. Mouse/keyboard works wonders in many situations (RTS and FPS mostly), but it's not the one scheme to solve all. Not even close.
Hell is where the heart is.
This violates our "deliberately refusing to get the point and just going round in circles adding no new stuff" policy.
