I love YaBB 1G - SP1!

I like getting the highest possible quality because it's just like playing the game itself. The problem is the files are way to big, they take like a day to download, so I use a download manager that speeds it up which also splits the files as I'm downloading to achive the fastest possible speed; only downside if something were to happen I would have to download it all over again Sad

I think just for these types of runs and quality types it would be best to split it down to 700MB.

It's a good standard size that everybody is comfortable with, also fits perfectly on a CD. This would definitly help with these sorts of problems that arise with the highest quality Wink

It would be an annoyance to those who don't split, 'cause there are a billion different programs you can use to split videos. You can use VirtualDub/Mod, MKVtoolnix, and I'm sure Avisynth can do it, but I'm not sure how. MKVtoolnix has the feature to split by every 700MB.

someone needs to write a wget faq so it can be stickied. actually one of my ideas for the site this summer was to make a kind of knowledge base area where my recording faq, radix's submission faq and other future faqs would go. i'm planning on doing a lot of writing (english and bash) this summer.

Why wget? People have been complaining since the dawn of time about slow archive.org download speeds. If we're going to recommend an ftp program, it might as well be one that supports segmented downloads. And wget is a little harder to use than normal. I'm sure noobs won't like it. Heck, I don't really like it either. Yes, it does what it needs to, but it's annoying as hell to use. It's not like there's a shortage of available ftp programs out there.

i guess annoying as hell must be subjective, because 99% of what i do for this site is more annoying than using wget.

Used filezilla but got a time out error after 24hours (or so), then tried using the downloadthemall plugin for firefox that I was talking about, but didn't mention the name in my first post; same thing happened Angry

FTP clients I found go much slower than downloadthemall. I'm trying it with SmartFTP now, but shouldn't get my downloads completed for 100hours; kinda of a extremly heavy downloader/p2p user 8)

Is there a really good FTP program out there. This is the third or 4th time I'm trying to download something and I get a timeout error, meaning I have to start it all over again. I tried using the downloadthemall plug-in for firefox and FileZilla and SmartFTP same thing. Huh?

Indeed it has some problems...it's the same for very big files...How much of free space on your hard drive do you have, ballofsnow? It may have some problems because of this, or it is a problem with server/download manager.

Some download managers/torrent clients don't work properly with some firewalls, another possibility.

You're right, but i have no firewall/router/proxy, so it's not the case...Besides, you couldn't download any video from SDA if it would be because of this.
