O Captain! My Captain!
Has anyone attempted this yet?

I mean like, Solitaire and Minesweeper, predominately, but there are other games.

A speedrun of solitaire especially I would like to see.
Thread title:
Visit my profile to see my runs!
Ski Free.
Search YouTube.
Minesweeper WR
Wiggle wiggle
Space Cadet Pinball, clearly.
Ganondorf = Donkey Kong LOOK IT UP!!
Hover.

Enough said, someone do it.
^Does Hover have an end? I thought it just infinitely looped the same few levels.
There are many Solitaire speedruns on Youtube, so I don't bother searching it for you. I think the record is 8s or sth like this.
However almost all of them use macros, which would be forbiden by SDA standards I think.
Also it takes skill, but is still very tedious. There are some dreamboards (it's not real randomness) and glitches, which make the speedrun nothing but clicking through the stack and moving only a couple of cards.

Minesweeper however had a strong competitive scene basically since it was made. The records can't be beaten without years of daily practice.

However I haven't seen any interesting run of Spider Solitaire, which is probably due to the lack of a built-in timer. That would be very interesting. I've tried, but the results don't look that well.
Sth I forgot about Minesweeper. While it's true that you can't beat the official records without a lot of practice, you can beat the inofficial ones. Minesweeper similarrily to Solitaire has no real randomness. The discovery that almost all the world's best times were made on the same or very similar boards led to the discovery of board cycles and thus the creation of clones using real randomness. All times to be accepted as a world record have to be played on such a clone and must also have a certain minimum number of clicks needed to solve them (2 for beginner, 30 for int, 100 for exp).
However SDA has no such rules, so you could analyze the board cycles (it has been done before, but the results were not published), then automatize the clicking through the boards until you know you will start with a certain one and then just play it. You can use Minesweeper Clone to practice the levels. So it's all just a question of figuring all that stuff out and then your time only depends on how quickly you can make x clicks in a certain pattern.
Solitaire draw 3 world record - 17 seconds

Solitaire draw 1 world record - 6 seconds

spider solitaire easy difficulty - 69 Moves

spider solitaire medium difficulty - 84 moves
Spider Solitaire is in "Moves". Real time would be more interesting.
I'd love to see a realtime spider solitaire run.  That game is evil sometimes...
Waiting hurts my soul...
Doesn't Spider Solitaire allow you to get a game seed, so you'll always know the layout and can plan your moves or is that only Freecell?
I'd love to see a speedrun of Chip's Challenge.
Obscure games ftw

I was thinking the same thing.
There's a slightly active community that focuses on optimizing every individual level, but what I really want to see is an SS run of it (with no level skips).
and I can't do it because I suck at boosting so...
If you wanna do Chips Challenge, we gotta decide which version we play it on. The original or the Win 95 remake. They're mostly the same... but I've heard the music in the original was better.
Waiting hurts my soul...
I have the Lynx version. I say play it on the C64...
Obscure games ftw
What about Tile World? (CC emulator, though somehow I don't think it'd be allowed)

O Captain! My Captain!
speedrunning pinball would be interesting, is there any specific things you can do on that that can be speedrun?
There is a "plot" of sorts - you can work your way through 8 different military ranks by doing missions (which involve hitting certain targets, going through different tunnels, etc.).
