I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I was looking at your Morrowind "Speed Run".

The Author's explanation makes no sense.

In Morrowind, you can not handle the "Keening" and "Sunder" without protection or cheats.

Basically, he cheated like hell before he began his so-called "Speed Run" but never accounted for the time it took to implement those cheats.

welcome to the machine
Refer to the several threads about this subject.

Simply put, he doesn't have them equipped for long enough to get killed.

All runs are verified thuroughly (sp?) by multiple people so please stop assuming before looking at the facts.

N00bs...gotta not like 'em well.

Damn, this run has gotten so many accusations against it...
I thought the Fallout 1 and 2 runs got more complaints...

Nah. I only saw one complaint about the game now.
There's been at least 5...

And whenever I mention these runs in the gamespot forums, a lot of people accuse without even starting the download...
Still alive...
I've seen accusations on A LOT forums. Most of the time they dont even WATCH the movies they just say "OMFGz0rz look at teh cheatz0rz!11one".

Or something in this direction.

A lot of people were accusing so many of the speedruns on this site.

"The test chamber jump in Half-Life is impossible to do!!!"

"It's impossible to beat Super Mario Bros. in 5:09!"

"You can't beat Fallout that fast"

God. They obviously haven't read the rules or FAQ at all. But what I'm most curious about myself... is how FierceLink got that moving thingy in his sig.... alongside the awesome banana....

Never give up!
Let me be honest about something.

I don't think most of those people realize there ARE errors even in accepted runs.

What a real player does with errors:  :wallbash:

What a cheater does with errors:  :hit:

(In case people don't get it, a real player gets frustrated at errors but ultimately embraces one or two.  A cheater makes sure to demolish any and all errors.)

There's also the entertainment value they're missing.

Why not tell people the TAS are legit too. It's funny to see ignorant people be angry.

By the way, has Radix EVER posted a run with cheats in it? Even by accident?

Oooh, yes, I forgot them.  I won't be able to find the perfect smilies, but let me differentiate cheaters and TAS-ers.

Cheaters demolish all errors just to win.

TAS-ers demolish all errors predominantly to entertain.

I wish they'd do more runs like that MMX & MMX2 one. I've watched several tool-assisted runs, and that was the only one I found entertaining. The rest bored me.
I'm addicted to games

There was a series of Quake demos from one player in 1998 that went over a year undeteced as the easiest cheat there is in Quake: host_framerate. The reason? I wasn't paying attention to the site.

I had pondered the same thought. I PMed him. You use [ move ] [ /move ] (minus the spaces intended obviously).

In addition to the ones that are unique to TAS (MMX1/2, hacked games), the best ones are the ones that operate on a completely different plane of existence than legit runs, like Mega Man 1, Mario 2, Arkanoid, and Umihara Kawase. The ones that look more like robotic players with a lot of free time or luck (like the infamous SMB3) are really pretty boring.
^
TAS are good, i love to see them and they got there palce.
sure that megaman ( like the new megaman 4 run )are the best TAS game i think, but there is a lot of other like sonic, zelda ( LttP is fun, ( the really short one is crazy O_o ), and now that the n64 start to be emuleted its really nice ( mario 16 start Shocked ).... also a bump for excitebike and metroid TAS.

And yeah, its funyn how ppl say Cheat everytime a impressive run is done like fallout - morrowind - some metroid one  Wink

that mean that the runner are jsut Great !!! GJ  Grin
PwNzRd!
If someone cheats a run, it can be identified rather quickly if uploaded and posted.
Fucking Weeaboo
I still accuse the Contra III guy of cheating and I was a verifier.  He can't be that fricken coordinated.  Angry

DON'T EVER SAY SUCH THINGS ABOUT MIKE UYAMA!

/backhandslap

>.>

Seriously, check out his MMX and MMZero runs, he's got some mad 2-D action skill and it doesn't surprise me he'd be able to pull a performance like that off.
Precursor
I still say Uyama is controlling his games with just sheer willpower.

We went over this.  It's either sheer mindpower or, the MUCH more plausible, MUCH more realistic, MUCH more obvious reason is....

That he has a third thumb.

Or, even more possible than that, Mike Uyama actually has an insane amount of midi-chlorians in his system.  That's right.  Mike Uyama could have been a Jedi Knight.
Ride on shooting star
Maybe he has the power to slow down time.
