I'm the man.......nothing else needs to be said
So with this game already being out a whole two days I figured someone should start up a speedrunning topic about it. I have already very roughly routed a run with the Warrior class on Normal and have a completed time (with deaths and unfortunate glitches that cause reloads) of around 2:45:xx. Has anyone else done any routing with any other classes or have much input for this game yet?

EDIT: Oh and I am running the PC version as well

EDIT Mk2: Here are the two videos of my run if anyone wants to see

Thread title:
my understanding is that the jew class does increased damage at low health, leading me to believe it may be the fastest with good routing, but i don't have the game so i don't know.  if the classes are different enough each one could warrant its own run.

Based on the fact that there is no class specific gear and that most of your bonuses will come from said gear mean that the only real difference from class to class is the Skills that each one gets and the equipment given when you rank up. So I don't really think each class would warrant its own run with such little differences. So far from what I have seen the Warriors skills seems to compliment all of the games bosses pretty well. Granted I have done VERY limited testing so far but both Mage and Thief haven't been able to keep up even close to the Warrior in the first hour or so.
Ive tested Warrior but, so far I think mage at the moment is the fastest. In my first completed run as a Mage was 2:35, plenty of room for improvement. With a level 3 dragons breath it makes clearing columns of enemies with ease and using the Brain Food Perk having butters constantly feeding you 6 PP makes it so you can cast this spell endlessly. Zandergoth has been running it as well and he has gotten a 2:09 as a Mage. With some more route tweaking it seems that sub 2 hours is easily possible.
watched the run, it would seem you want to stack as many status effects as possible as quickly as possible.  i would think speed potions are very useful in pretty much every fight and i'd be surprised if sub two isn't possible once players become familiar with a route.

anyone experiment at all seeing how random the rng actually is?  like if you hard reset and behave exactly the same do enemies still open with the same attacks?
http://www.twitch.tv/zandergothsrl looks to be routing this game.
Just beat the game as a Mage. I'm inclined to agree with Vicodinin. With Swat Helmet (Extra turn after a kill), Necromancer Outfit, Necromancer Gloves, and speccing Perks for PP refils + burn damage, it stacks pretty heavily without any preparation. Not to mention Burn damage adds another great aggravated damage option outside of grossing out with shit nuggets and bleeding.

Sub-2 should be really easy.

What kind of damage output do other class' moves put out at Lv. 15?

^Also, has anyone gotten all the Chinpokomon and filled up the Friend list yet? Those seem to be the most feasible 100% category. Possibly even Equipment, which would take a lot of time due to needing to buy things... No worries about stocking items, because the game just hands out potions and stuff freely. Junk can be stocked pretty easy too because most of the battles can be manipulated to wipe out enemies on the first turn.
Hey guys. So I want to get into this game to and I haven't even bought it yet! But that's why I'm here. Because if I should want to get into speedrunning this game, what version should I get? I can choose between Xbox and PC. My laptop plays diablo 3 without lag really on the lowest settings and my xbox is the slim. Any input on this is appreciated. Thanks sda Smiley

After some testing, I can guarentee you that mage is the most overpowered class. Useing the dust a6ttack, you can stun lock nearly everything in the game, and with some abuse of item buffs and the bubblegum perk, you can kill everyboss in a few turns

I'm gonna do a little more testing then upload my route document

I've been having fun as the jew class as of late. One of the later abilities with Jew-jitsu is that if it kills an enemy you get another turn, which is handy, as well as jew special abilities doing extra damage against the nazi zombies. Still haven't completed the game (I want to enjoy it as a filthy casual the first time through before going for speedruns).

Some great early game damage comes from the mongolian bow which burns on perfect attacks, adding the +1 bleed per attack patch adds 3 bleed stacks for some nice damage tick.
Completely and totally unrelated to speedrunning, but... is there anyone who knows enough German to understand what the Hitler recordings/zombies are saying? Parker and Stone like to throw in the occasional bilingual easter egg (for instance, the Princess Kenny and Mecha Streisand theme songs are pretty funny if you can understand Japanese), and I'm curious if there is anything contextual to the recordings... Even if it's just random recordings of Hitler screaming to punctuate the fact that they are Nazi Zombies.

I've filled both up on my version. Agreed that it would be the best form of 100%, saves grabbing every bag you see for the random equipment.

You can get about 60 of the friends on Day 1, but for the rest of them, and some of the Chinpokomon you need to play the game to the finish.

Late game Warrior is devastating, with max Jump Attack and Roshambo to stun-lock enemies - especially if you double that with Cartman or Butters.

Alright guys well the sub 2 mark has been hit. I took a bunch of notes from Zander's route and added a few of my own while optimizing a few fights and hit 1:59:17 earlier today. With some more focus on optimized boss fights just using the route I have I can see 1:55 being possible without TOO much difficulty. I made a few mistakes and had to reload a few checkpoints but no deaths which is nice.

Another thing to check would be if the Australian version is faster than the uncensored version, since there is the cut content.

...while I think on it, this would never get approved for a marathon. Too many audience rating issues Tongue
i'd rather not route a game around a version missing content.  the accepted runs for arkham city and assassin's creed ii don't exploit versions missing content so i would think a full version would be appreciated here as well.

@adamspeedrun, it's my understanding the controls are more pc friendly, but i don't have the game myself, so wouldn't know for certain.

So on my 2nd playthrough of the game using a fighter, I was able to kill Craig in before the last cow exploded and the fight ended. 2x Normal attacks and 2x Ike with Kyle. Sadly my save is corrupted at that point and everytime I finish that fight it turns to a black screen and my guy is not on the screen when I get to the next room :|. Guess I'll try again on next run through.

the level scaling is sooooo dumb. I hate when rpg's do this.

It makes it way easier to speedrun though - no required levels for anything.
Takahashi Meijin
you need required levels for equipment/patches though?

i guess people are just going to play on easy mode?
I'm the man.......nothing else needs to be said
All of the required levels for weapons and patches are all easily reached during the run. Anything you pick up is usable within 10 minutes usually. Specifically the SWAT helmet, Superhero Patch, and IV Needle are all reached within three battles of obtaining them

Does anyone know if the PC version or if the Xbox version is faster?

and thanks wfp but I was going to use the 360 controller on either regardless of the version

EDIT: I watched some videos of both version. It seems PC loads nearly instantly while xbox take ~4 seconds to load. Note this is from starting a new game.
Does the PC version have 360 controller support? if it does, then you should use that, because there is no hotkey for Take All on the PC version. Otherwise, get PC anything, because PC anything is fastest no matter what.
We all scream for Eyes Cream
Yes it has 360 pad support.

-Uses PS2 controller though-

Apparently someone got a 1:50:xx earlier today. Haven't seen any mention of it though so I'm wondering if anyone knows about it.

Just finished the game today on hardcore. The jew classes plagues of egypt or whatever is nuts. Sweet ass katana from Jimbo's store is the best melee weapon if anyone is curious with the right patches.

Gonna start derping around with other classes and try to run this I suppose.
