So this came up on Skype the other day, when some people talked about the possibility of getting interviewed by people from a popular Swedish gaming blog.

Now, I'm a journalist student at university. I like writing articles and such. So, an idea I had was that, even if it's just to get more practice, I'd write a feature story article about ESA2014. To this end, I'd be wanting to interview some people.

This is not me asking for people who wants to be interviewed, just giving the heads up that I might go around taking pictures and asking questions. My goal would be to have the article completed before the event closes, so I'd probably do most of the interviewing during the first half (gotta practice having deadlines, naturally!). This is not even me asking if people would not be okay with it because even if you told me I probably wouldn't keep track of who didn't want to, so if you don't want to be interviewed/have your picture taken just say so if I ask you. I won't mind. I'd probably talk to a few runners and organizers.

And if I interview you, don't count on me actually using everything you say, because that's not how journalism works. I've done 10-15 minute phone interviews with several questions that just resulted in two or three quotes that were used for the final article - a thing one has to learn when learning journalism is how to choose what parts of the information you collect should actually make it into the story.

Would probably attempt to make both an English and a Swedish version of the article. Would be uploaded for all to see when it gets done, of course.

Even if the likelihood for it getting published anywhere is minor, it's good practice for me to treat it as if it would, so I'm asking anyone I might want to interview to treat it like that as well. And, hey, if it becomes a really good article, it's always possible to try to sell it! So just keep that in mind.

This is an idea still in its infant phase, but it feels like something I want to do so it's most likely going to actually happen.

If you need some backstory of ESA you should interview Edenal, Frezy, Crippe, Me or Arva.

If you want to know who came up with the name ESA you have to interview yourself!

Sounds like a great idea! thumbsup
Curseddolls is taking photos too so maybe the two of you could co-operate there even if your main goal is to get your article up. I was also asking around a bit if someone wants to do a bloggy sort of thing for the event. Cursed didn't give me a clear answer (or then she did and I can't remember what it was...)

Someone else taking photos I could use is good, because then I won't need to bring my own camera. So that works.

Yeah, I'll be taking the odd pic whenever Cursed's not using my camera xD
