PJ: It's around two corners. I can't remember if there's a room in between or not. I told Boniene we liked having the building mostly to ourselves and January isn't a crowded time (so far there's only one other group booked, and they're in a different building).
Heidman: lol
I forgot to mention that there are windows in the hallway, even though the rooms themselves are windowless, so hopefully we'll have a better sense of time. (probably not :P)
I just realized I should have taken pictures of the hallway too, doh.
Oh yeah, signing in. They said I can do group check-in again like last year, where I get all of the keys, but I can assign other people to be group leaders so they can handle check-in, registration, and key card troubles instead of me.
For anyone curious about the rooms and where they are in the center, go to the 4-H Center's front page and click on the floor plan in the bottom left. The building we're staying is McCormick Hall, and the proposed rooms were Oklahoma and New York lounge. We stayed in the W.K Kellog hall and the Michigan and Kentucky rooms last year.
for dumb people like me who couldn't figure it out, you need to click on the 'Virtual Tour' link first on the right side of the screen. and you should try for the Utah Lounge to bring back some of that SGDQ feeling!
im sure the mini fridge will seem a lot more mini when 50+ people are trying to use it at the same time
dballin: Oops, forgot to mention that on the front page.
Yes Emptyeye, that's another benefit to having the McCormick Hall. There are also rooms on the second and third floors if there isn't enough space on one floor, or if people want to be farther away from the marathon noise when they go to bed.
There are no fridges, except that mini-fridge in the room Mike mentioned.
mini-fridge was exactly what I was talking about and thank for answering to my question at the same time
Quote from dballin:
I'll be sure to scatter some weapons around the fridge so we can fight to the death over who gets to use it.
I can bring weapon and create plasma from a microwave(I'll try to find one cheap in a garage sale not far from there), a cherry and a glass. Also I propose that we rely on the defense of this fridge in four division I can do from 2am to 8am, so we need someone 8-14 14-20 and 20-2.
I calculated some price estimates based on 80 people coming. If more people come, then the prices will be slightly lower (like 5-10 dollars at most) because the meeting room cost will be shared by more people.
These estimates assume we'll want both meeting rooms from the 3rd-10th. Yes, I know the marathon ends on the 9th, but the stay on the 10th is a both a buffer and time to rest after the marathon. I don't know if we'll stay longer than the 10th, that depends on how many people stick around for the bonus stream.
Also, don't be surprised if these estimates go up by 10-20 dollars when I make the payment thread to make sure there is a prize fund.
EDIT: Yes, the hard cap for people per room is five. If you want to know why, ask the people who stayed in room 5216, all 9 or 10 of them.
Also, I goofed the estimates the first time. I forgot to add the meeting room cost per person.
