Glitch? No. It's a feature.
Surprised that no on has replied about the new glitches. It is by far the biggest break in the game. Probably bigger than all other combined.
Sure, it would suck to allow loading data from premade files, but it would suck even more to not be allowed to use these glitches. The Hero Song Quest is by far the most boring part of the game, it is just one huge filler that isn't fun to run or watch. I'd obviously not accept this in a regular category myself, but I would love to see a new category that allows premade files.

And I guess I should mention that early Tower of Light now is possible without the use of a premade file, but the others still require them, and I wouldn't get my hopes up either, they are triggered in a different way than the Tower of Light and will most likely not be possible without a premade file (using the currently known methods anyway)
My feelings on The Demon Rush
The big problem with this new glitch is that it doesn't fit into any SDA categories. It's not really a segmented run or SS w/ resets because you're breaking continuity with the save files, and it's not new game + because you're not loading up a previously completed game file.

Having a premade file category seems like something that would fit with very few games. The only other game I can think of is Earthbound.
lol, were you trying to paraphrase from that SM64 thread I made?

I think CloudMax said he found a way to transfer EVERYTHING from one file to another, except the playtime... there was also some theories about beating Sky Keep on the title screen and triggering its end-of-dungeon cutscene early on a new file, which would pretty much make for a 15-minute run. Even if it's not possible it illustrates to me what's wrong with this kind of thing so I'm fine with not allowing it Tongue

Well, that depends on how you look at it.
You could also say that you only transfer the playtime, and nothing else.
To be more technical I would say that it works like this: You load a file, but the game believes that another file is selected, so the next time you save, you will save over the file that the game believe you've selected. The thing is, because the game believes that that file is selected, it uses that files playtime.
So it is just a trick to save over another file, and keep that files save time.
I wouldn't say that this counts as transferring data. If it did, it would only count as transferring the playtime, and not the other way around.

However, there is this glitch called "duped new file" I THINK it is called that anyway (The name is weird, since it doesn't have anything to do with duping a new file), and it would fit the NG+ category following the description mentioned by mike. There is this glitch where you can bypass the name selection screen so that the game believes that you haven't started a file yet even though you have, so whenever you save the game, the file will still look like it is a new unused file, but after you select the name and watch the intro cutscene, you will still have the progress you've made earlier when you bypassed the name selection. This basically means that you can play up until the last boss then save the game.
Now when you're at the file selection it will still say "New Adventure" or "Hero Mode" and after you select a name and watch the intro cutscene, you'll be able to go to the last boss right away.
I do not support having such a category though. I would rather have a category where you're allowed to temporarily transfer data from files during BiT to access cutscenes early and such, not transferring actual data from one file to another.

If it won't be allowed, it could still be a category suited for racing over at SRL. It would make the game shorter and remove a lot of filler content like the hero song quest which is just time consuming.

Ugh, had to write this twice since the computer crashed on me.. my computer freezes when I loose internet connection at school for some reason...
Yea the "transferring all data" is basically copying your file. Copying a completed file and beating the game isn't exactly a speedrun from start to end.

The "duped new file" is the same problem. You essentially load a file right before beating demise. So it is only really good for cheating, unfortunately, since it looks like a new file when it's really a completed file.

On the other-hand, this glitch is to cause cutscenes to trigger in BiT by using pre-made files. It's seems quite different to me than just copying data over. And as others have stated, it would be a huge shame if we couldn't find a category to put it into. The route is extremely interesting and you skip a large amount of boring in the game. Runs would be so short (something like 3 hours) which would make it much more popular and better marathon material.

Maybe SS /w Resets and premade files :/ I dunno...
Sigh, I think I might change my mind about the pre-made file thing.

The route I had originally planned did not work. First, early light pillars glitch is so limited that it became useless (or near useless), so you still have to beat the first three dungeons. And early skykeep is much less useful than I originally had planned. You still need to get the master sword and open the Gate of Time, or you get a dead end when you need to enter the past to fight Demise. So in all, pre-made files only lets you skip the Song of Hero and the Skyloft Trials, which is like 1-1.5 hours from a 6 run. While this is still a lot, I don't really like the idea of using pre-made files for just skipping Song of Hero. It's pretty controversial. I had supported it before since the route was very bizarre and interesting, and the length was good, but now it's the same as any% except you skip the Song of Hero...

(Also, I think it was funny that we were talking about allowing this glitch before anyone had tested if it was possible in a run ^.^)
