Made a new thread since the old thread has been dead for about 3 years.

So the Any% SS run of this game would most likely skip all of the "Stay within a certain distance of this car" missions by restarting the mission 6 times then just running away from the car. This allows you to skip the mission which might be faster in most cases. The main problem for routing this game is the crappy expensive clothes, cars, etc. in the later levels. It would be nice to skip the room with all the boxes and buzz machines in level 3 but that might not happen. I'm working on a coin route now but it might take a while. I will post a route when I'm finished with it.

Anyone else wanna help me do some routing  Roll Eyes
Thread title:
Waiting hurts my soul...
I have this game, but there are so many others to think about. What platform are you running on? Nothing really to add other than good luck. If you're going for any%, you should have enough coins I think and not have to go too far out of your way.

Here's how I'd approach this:

1) To start, don't worry about how many coins I need and play to the quickest route I can come up with.
2) Once I reach a point where I'm short on coins, make note of how many I'm short and collect that many and no more.
3) Continue playing for the fastest route until I hit a point where I need to repeat step 2.

This will give me a baseline for how many more coins I'll need to go out of my way to collect.

Next step would be to find nearby places with large amount of coins (boxes and soda machines), especially ones I can drive through since that will auto destroy/collect those if I remember correctly.

At the end of that test run I'll either have more coins than I needed or still require some, so I'll go back and refine the route.

Good luck!

I will be playing on GCN.

Things that need to be bought:
King Plow(150)
Mr. Plow(200)
"Cool"(250)
Bus(300)
"Inmate"(300)
"Police"(400)
Car Built for Homer(500)
"American"(425)
Globex Super Villein Car(600)
Zombie car(500)

So 3625 total coins will be collected in this run :/

I liked this game a lot Smiley But sorry, I don't have anything constructive to add.

I used to like watching this game just as much as I liked playing this game, so I recorded myself playing all the way through, although it wasn't a speedrun.  Well I was trying to go fast, but I wasn't much good at the game and I definitely didn't use any speed tricks like skipping missions.  I think my video was about six hours total (I could be wrong); obviously you'll go faster!
You got a deletion wish?
I agree with using the GC version, the PS2 version is a bit erratic (especially with Frink's invisible hovercar), don't know how the Xbox and PC versions look.

Was planning this myself but the coin collecting is a pain in the butt.

I never really noticed any issues with the PS2 version.

A lot of coins will be collected during skipping a mission. An example is in level 4, the first mission has a 30 second timer at the beginning. So after I restart it a few times a run to the back of Flander's house and get about 100 coins back there. Also the best part is in Bart 2 when I go in Krusty Studios during a mission and go to that coin room that has about 300 coins in it.
Not sure if it could be worked into the run, but if you kick a Buzz Cola crate/vending machine twice, then leave the area and come back, it'll be able to be kicked the full 3 times again.

But then again, I can't remember if it's entering a different area, or save and quit, so you may want to test that to be sure.
Hey all pretty new to the whole speed running thing, been looking into SRL seeing some awesome runs live. Was thinking about picking up this game to try and run. First question: I was wondering if the PC version is viable. Second question: Is there any videos of WR or is the community for this game still alive?
