Shots Fired is an online speedrunning marathon designed to feature shooter games. These games always have a small representation in other marathons, but here we can include a significantly larger amount. The original Shots Fired Marathon took place last November and was a huge success, so we’ve decided to bring it back for a sequel.
The Goal
The main goal of this marathon is simply to give runners an opportunity to showcase themselves and their games. The shooter genre is extremely broad, and we want to show everyone out there just how great these games are.
What counts as a shooter?
This marathon is mostly for First Person Shooters and Third Person Shooters, though other styles of shooters can definitely be included. If you have a game that you kinda-sorta think is a shooter, feel free to submit! It’s extremely difficult to define what a shooter is, and I’m not going to try to do it here. In the end, each submission will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine if it’s an appropriate fit for this marathon. If you aren’t sure or have any questions, feel free to contact me.
When is this going to take place?
The marathon is currently planned to begin on June 2 and go until at least June 5. I’d love to keep it going longer, so the end date will remain variable depending on how many submissions we receive. The marathon will take place on the http://www.twitch.tv/ShotsFiredMarathon channel.
Important Dates
This is how each stage of the planning is currently laid out:
- Submissions: April 7 – May 5
- Cuts: May 12
- Schedule: May 19
- Marathon Start: June 2
Submission Information
You’ll be submitting your games in this thread. Please include a Twitch link or any other contact information. If you aren’t sure about your availability that's alright, otherwise estimate to the best of your abilities. You can submit as many games and categories as you’d like, the more we get the better we can make this marathon. For the estimate, enter an estimate that you can consistently get under without adding time for setup. Use the description to describe your speedrun and or why you think it should be in the marathon. If your game isn't obviously a shooter, consider adding how it fits the theme of the marathon. Adding a video is highly recommended, though please do not submit other peoples videos.
If you want to change the games you’re submitting or any details such as your availability, please edit your post. We’ll double check everything before we start doing cuts and scheduling.
