I don't think I posted it anywhere, but I came up with the figure that SDA had almost raised $100k this year alone - SGDQ put us about $700 short. I can go back and do the numbers if you'd like, haha.

SGDQ - $21271.76 as of this moment (from the front page)
Total - $99234.59 !!

Adding CGDQ ($11105.98) puts us well over of course. I felt like getting $100k in this year alone would have been a nice milestone to hit, but just like an impressive speedrun that comes in at 10:05 instead of the aesthetically pleasing sub 10, it shouldn't take away from the impressiveness of the achievement!

your JRDQ numbers are low. I know we were over 25k actually donated, but rom is a poo poo head and didn't cover all the paypal fees when he gave the money to MSF so they don't know that. i wouldn't be surprised if it was over $750 worth of fees since I know it's at least $500.

EDIT: duh, of course it is! JRDQ's actual numbers were $25800.33, so we can argue that we raised $100k for four organisations, at least three of which were worthy. Wink

I am really late posting. I have been too busy.

I wish I could have been at the marathon for a longer time. I didn't get to enjoy the marathon as much as I could have when I was there. Too much practicing for me.

My feelings on The Demon Rush

I know I wasn't there, but I helped organize the marathon, and I wanted to be there badly, so I'm going do shoutouts anyway.

First and foremost, a huge shoutout to Uraniumanchor for working non-stop on the SGDQ encodes. It's shocking we have so many uploaded already, and it looks like we'll have even more quite soon. You deserve nothing but thanks for all of the work you have done for the SDA marathon encodes. If you continue to work this hard we'll have to give you a salary. Wink

Also, you did a good job with your Blaster Master run. It's a pity you fell from grace though.

Zyre: It sounds like you brought a lot of equipment to help out with setup, as someone who has brought a lot of his own gear to marathons, I can say it's much appreciated and I hope you didn't lose anything. You did a great job in the Dynamite Headdy race. Too bad you had to make that detour that made your run unsubmittable. Sad

BTW, can you bring that switchbox for AGDQ? Or at least tell me what model it is so I can possibly get one myself? An auto-switching switchbox would do wonders for setup time.

Darkwing Duck: I'm shocked you weren't complaining about the schedule. ;P Seriously though, you seem like a cool guy and it was awesome you took everyone out for Korean BBQ. I just wish I could have had some.

BTW, I have to say I regret missing the E.V.O. run, but I had to sleep. The commentary for that run was really good, and it looked like you guys had a lot of fun during the run. Also, the home run blooper was classic. Cheesy

Feasel: You crushed Snake Rattle 'n Roll like it was nothing. Seriously, that was one of the marathon highlights for me because that game is so ridiculous and I am terrible at it (isometric controls don't help either). You also upgraded your commentary from silent to very informative, I like it. I look forward to your runs at the next AGDQ.

UltraJMan: You weren't on top of your pun game, but maybe that was for the best. Wink

It was good seeing you again, but it was weird seeing you without the mustache. Anyway, you better make run of the century for the next AGDQ!

DarkKobold: It was cool seeing some TAS love at the marathon, and your MM3 win was clutch, but did you really have to show off Wizards and Warriors 3? WW3 is a dull bad game, but I guess Burger King proved that. Wink

Duckfist: Those Mega Man runs were beastly. I know Mega Man 10 wasn't your personal best, but it was still an awesome watch and you should be proud of having such a solid run at the marathon.

Dunnius: You had some great runs with Mega Man and Metal Gear. Good job on beating Master-88's time for Metal Gear, and I'm sorry people talked over you during your run. You had some good, informative commentary while running Metal Gear.

Arrow: I was looking forward to your commentary this marathon and you did not disappoint. You were always on point informing people who we were and what cause we were supporting, not to mention that you ran a lot of games and did a great job with them. Seeing DK '94 was a personal favorite of mine simply because I played the game so much as a kid. Did you sleep at all? I swear you were up for most of the marathon.

Aftermath: You did a good job on commentary, especially for your first time. Seeing the newer Castlevania games run was pretty sweet, and you did a good job of manning the graveyard and early morning shifts. It was good to know not everyone deserted Opario.

theseawolf1: I had to sleep during your runs, but having watched the encodes, I can say I chose a bad time to sleep. That was a great Demon's Crest run you had going there, and the Guardian Legend run was good too, despite a couple of deaths. Also, don't worry about your commentary during your runs, it was enjoyable and informative.

Spikevegeta: The breakout star of the marathon. You were consistently funny and energetic. Every time you were in the room the commentary became livelier. I won't lie, I was bit worried about you since you almost never posted in the forum about your practice or marathon status, but having seen your runs I can safely say those worries were misplaced. I just hope the EU doesn't extradite you for your Rayman 2 commentary. Wink

kubelwagon: I didn't see you much, but your Kirby runs were solid. I missed L4D2, but I'm sure the video will be good.

Gombill: Like kubelwagon, I didn't see you much, but the Mario 64 and Quake 2 runs were fun to watch.

Brossentia: The other breakout star! You were always so lively when you were in the room. Whenever you and spikevegeta combined forces during Rayman 2 I was cracking up. I'm sure you'll make all of those hardest jumps when recording your Mirror's Edge run.

Opario: Sorry about your Riven run, but at least you had a good SotC performance.

Tranquilite: VVVVVV was probably rougher than you liked, but it was still a good performance. It's too bad what happened during Super Metroid, but you put on a good show nonetheless. Also, thanks for providing your computer for streaming, it looks like it really helped out.

Nitrodon: Good job on Cave Story as always. Are we going to see a run from you someday?

Raen: Your Minish Cap run was a great watch until the final dungeon, but at least now you know the final dungeon is just as important as the rest of the game. Wink

Piewexil: You seemed as relaxed as always. You did a good job reading donation comments, and you took that pie like a champ. Oh, and you did a decent job during KH2 too. Who knew that would turn out to be the best race ever?

SMK: Your new donation program helped out so much with sorting everything, and it looks like it cut down on data entry by a lot. I look forward to using it for AGDQ.

As for the switchbox, I'll be glad to bring both of mine. I'm going to see if there is some way that I can get one to feed into another, then we could have 6 consoles that are always set up, ready to go, and 1 slot open for the less-needed systems. I didn't lose anything, with huge props to Essentia, Denton, and Brossentia for holding on to my equipment for me until I made it back to Utah.

As I haven't posted any shoutouts yet: Shoutouts to everyone who was there, everyone who donated, everyone who participated in any way, shape, or form. (Yes, I'm lazy. Everyone already has given their thanks to specific individuals and I wouldn't have anything more to add.)

As for the switchbox, I'll be glad to bring both of mine. I know I wasn't there and didn't really contribute anything at all to this marathon, but I watched as much as I could during this week. I am extremely proud of all of you for the outstanding job you all did! You/we raised a huge amount of money once again, which is always an amazing thing to see. It is events like these that make me very proud to be a part of SDA.

I won't do individual shoutouts because they would all be the same:

Runner- I thoroughly enjoyed your run of game XYZ. I was extremely entertaining and wish I could've seen it in person. The pun you said was horrible. Great work!

Seriously though, great work, everybody! A very sincere thank you to Kari and Denton for making all of this possible. Not many of us would open up our homes to 20 strangers for 4 days (and provide meals!), so this was truly an unexpected and impressive gesture! Thanks so much!
