I have a question for everyone. I downloaded FRAPS and CamTasia at one point, but they both said I needed Win2000 or XP to run properly. I'm wondering if there is any sort of recording software I can use that will record stuff, and is compatible with WIN98? I'm only asking before, and if I upgrade to XP or something. Thank you very much in advance.  :shorty:
Thread title:
Screen Recorder Gold works with Windows 98... also test if Hypercam works.

Screen Recorder Gold lets me only choose sucky cinepak or uncompressed, I don't know why though, before with older versions I could choose others.

I downloaded the Screen Recorder Gold onto my computer without any difficulty. It said something about an unregistered AVI video that costed money or something.... But, whatever, I'm gonna try and record something and see what happens. Thanks for the help by the way, it's appreciated,

Oh man, Screen Recorder Gold did work, but when I use it to record while playing a selected game, my game chugs so badly, it's unbearable. I'll just upgrade to XP so I can run either FRAPs or CamTasia.

It means that you will have a small sign on the movie which says "unregistered copy" (since you haven't bought it) It can be cropped off though...

What game are you recording? Is it high framerate? The choppiness is due to many things, like the compression of the video. If you choose options > preference, you can select a CODEC. When I tested with uncompressed, there was no choppiness at all. However, this will result in a VERY HUGE filesize!

The choppiness might also be reduced if you change your monitor color depth. And you can also try decreasing hardware acceleration.

I have XP, and I've tested both..

I was attempting to record my Starcraft Zerg runs. I'll fool around with the CODEC thing, because the filesize probably won't concern me, unless it's like 10 000 000 000MB or something.... o_O
Yeah... this program might not be so good for that game.
