Hey guys,

my problem is that i'm only getting a still image (the fps drops to 0 in VirtualDub) and the audio from my PAL SNES. Everything is connected correctly as i'm able to record GameCube footage.
I tried three different capturing softwares (EZ Grabber, Honestech VHS to DVD 3.0 (both came with the device) and VirtualDub). The result was the same with all of them. Furthermore, i tested a lot of different settings like resolution, FPS, data formats, TV standards.
I bought this capture devicebecause most of the other grabbers seem to have problems with Windows 7 x64.

Anyone has a clue what's wrong here?

im gonna guess that your gamecube is running in pal60 (720x480) and your pal snes is running in pal50 (720*576).
so im gonna guess you need to change your input to 720x576.
either that or that capture device doesn't support 240p (288p in this case).

i still don't understand the difference between this and 480i. oh well.
I think every device that doesn't know 240p would interpret it as 480i (or 288p as 576i for PAL), which for recording doesn't matter. Correct input for a PAL SNES would be 720x288, 50Hz.

Seb, do you have any other devices you could try? Like other 240p consoles maybe?
i'm pretty sure 240p recording is borked on the blackmagic intensity pro.

why people would use an hd capture card for sd material is a different matter.
HELLO!
with the BMIShuttle I had to run my NES through an upscaling DVD recorder to get it to work.
I changed the input to 720x576 and 360x288 but the results were the same. If my device is not compatible for 240p consoles, isn't it strange that i'm actually getting the first frame after connecting the console (or after changing from s-video back to composite)?
Well, I tried some other SNES and the s-video output but there was no difference as expected. N64 works though.
Most N64 games are 240p, with some exceptions like parts of Majora's Mask. Check the Knowledge Base. If the game you tried is listed as D4 then your capture device can record 240p.
I tested Mario Kart 64 and it's listed as D4. What is different between the SNES and the N64 signals?
I assume you've used composite for the N64, as S-Video requires a different cable for a PAL N64. There's not really a difference between the two consoles, if it works with 240p from the N64 it should work on the SNES too. Weird.
Yes i used the same composite cable for both consoles.
Just wanted to bump my topic one last time.

Any suggestions before I try to return that device?
I don't think this topic is still being reviewed, but I'm having the same problem and can't find a way to fix it.
