RE4 AA Speedrun/Challenge

Hi there, i was just wondering what time would you guys be looking for a speedrun/challenge on Assignment Ada?

when i say challenge i mean using no fas and only allowed blacktail/rifle.Or would any weapons be allowed?

There was some discussion on this mode a long time back. Let me look it up....

Looks like an ideal time is less than 9 minutes. At least, if I'm reading this right.

Anyway, if you're looking to actually do it and just needed the time guideline, by all means do it.

Here's some info from atwyatt in an older RE thread (that thread being called 'all resident evil runs in general', and I think it's in Older Consoles) regarding Assignment Ada:

Also, it's important to not be too close to the hammer soldier, because you need him to point at you instead of the taser ganado behind him. So having the right distance will let you run by him too.

2) in the waste disposal room, I stop for about a quarter-second and stand by JJ to get him to start his 'swing-the-gun' attack instead of shooting it. And that lets me consistently get through the door before he starts shooting, as after that, the dynamite ganados slow him down.

3) for the 3rd(?) sample room (Ashley's holding cell,) I pick up the grenade in the red box on the wall before that (it's the only one I pick up in the run.) I equip that and then aim as I run towards the door. Then I throw the grenade THROUGH the door (yes, it goes through the door,) aiming so it hits all ganados and open the door as it explodes. You can take out all the ganados in that room with the grenade, allowing you to just run through it. (Otherwise the shield zealots will block the way.)

4) for the 2nd J.J. room, I just run down to the bottom door, trigger that, then run back up to the top of the stairs and throw a grenade on the shield group. Then I hit J.J. again and again with the SAR, moving forward a little bit each time (releasing and re-equipping the SAR each time, to shoot faster, like Torao does) so I can aim quickly, AND avoid the ganados coming up behind me.

After the last shot, I equip the TMP (seems necessary, unfortunately, because of the ganados behind the door, but Ada runs faster with it anyways) and stun the ganados behind me coming up the stairs (simply one or two shots across each of them). Then I open the door on the right side and hopefully have time to stun both ganados with the TMP before the hand ganado grabs me. I just hit them once or twice, to stun them and then run by them.

5) For the lab rooms and the 2nd-to-last-sample, after de-equipping the security system, I just run towards the taser ganado on the other side of the window and jump over. And he attacks while Ada is jumping over.

Then I just fake out the hammer soldier and shield zealot, and run out.

For Krauser I just use the alternating SAR shots to Krauser's knee and head. (6 shots) And that leaves one bullet left in the SAR.

The Krauser idea is an idea from Savior's Assignment Ada speed run on Stuckgamer.com. It's not a really fast speed run (~8:55 I think) as he wastes a LOT of time, but it still has some pretty good ideas and dodges in some parts.

just use every weapon what you want. the only thing is BE FAST! so you could MAKE it!

to get your run up on SDA you should be better than 9 minutes. the official best time is like i said above 7min00sec.

Anyways, those strategies are "ideal" and very difficult to pull off all in one run. The 2 difficult ones being the shield ganado's push (instead of a mace swing,) and the JJ-lab strategy.

Those strategies that I mentioned are faster than any of the strategies I've seen in any speedrun video of it (Wupeng's included,) but again, they're very difficult to pull off all in one run.

Although Wupeng has a good strategy for Krauser (if it's the same video that I downloaded from him.) If possible, it's best to shoot him 4 times, and then for the last 2, to wait until he runs up close and is about to attack, then get him. That way the distance to the plaga sample only has to be run once (by Krauser.) But on the North American version, Krauser usually attacks from far away, and doesn't right right up to Ada before attacking, the way he does in Wupeng's video.

The only possible improvements I can think of to the strategy I posted (other than very small ones) are to not stop by the JJ in the waste disposal room to get him to swing the gun... but that doesn't work very well on the North American version where you'll probably get shot trying to exit the door. I've seen it work on the PAL version though.

And to (somehow) shoot and kill the JJ in the Lab from by the exit door. That would eliminate the trip back up and down the stairs. But again, you get swarmed by ganados if you do that, but that's the maximum.

Also, there are times when the hand ganado behind the lab's exit door will point and call out, or get hit by the door opening, meaning you don't have to dodge him, or use the TMP. Ada runs slower with the rifle (used for Krauser,) so it would take some measurement to see if not switching to the TMP after JJ (plus the risk of getting grabbed at the door,) and keeping the rifle the whole time would be faster or not. :/

But again, my strategies are pretty difficult to pull off (for me at least.) I'm not good (yet) at coming up with easy strategies. And that's something I have to work on for speed runs. The main ones being the shield push, and the JJ-lab strategy. The grenade-through-the-door trick is pretty easy once you know where to aim.

i just actually watched it and i think with his stratgey at jj(with all shield guys) i can beat 7:00

Yeah, like I said, the strategies I mentioned were ideal, and not very easy to pull off all in one run.

But except for those other improvements I mentioned, they would be closest to the maximum time.

I just got 6:58 on aa.I basically jumped and hit my head of the ceiling once i had contacted chopper.I knew i had done it as i timed it from my dvd recorder.As i basked in my glory i press the green button to finalise on my bush dvd recorder.......it finalised in less than 5 seconds...........it usually takes about a minute to finalise..........I then feared the worse.........I was right to i pressed eject and tried in my other 3 dvd players.........NONE WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But then i tried it back in my Bush DVD Recorder and the data is still there.So the only way i can think of beating the world record(the best run ive ever done i think) is to record it to my Sony camcorder and see from there

LIFE IS SO CRUEL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Japanese doesn't equal good. I wouldn't even say there are more good japanese speedrunners than americans. People just assume their crazy for some reason. They're just people so there's no need to put them off to the side in their own little group.

na no way.i just did about a 6:40 run.everything went perfectly.and again same error!

right i have s video on my pc and dvd recorder.i can get what is on my pc onto dvd recorder but not whats on dvd recorder onto pc.anyway to do this?

Segment as in hit Retry if you mess up and cut out the failed attempts? Good for your sanity, and would allow even riskier maneuvers (you can run straight past the three guys with shock sticks on you way out of the room with the first Regenerator in Leon mode, for example (on PAL that is)). The question is whether that would be allowed, of course. It isn't the normal save+quit way of segmenting, after all.

Dude, there's no way that's the world record. Wupeng didn't post his video saying he had the 'world record.' He just posted a speed run video. Even someone here on SDA said they got ~6:15 a while ago.

Just on the strategy that you used alone, there's about 35-45 seconds worth of improvement, not to mention mistakes and polishing, etc. Wupeng makes good videos, but he's hardly a world-class speed runner like Yankichi, Zeno, etc.
