Okay, I have a question, what does the Quake install packages contain? And second, come on, that's a pretty yucky high-res textures pack, you could do better than that Undecided

The light one contains progs.dat for careful demos (can't get hit), pak explorer, convdem, compiling marathon .exes, a few maps, id1 pak, etc.  Basic stuff you need to play - but no extra demos or maps.  The full package I assume has all id demos, all maps (and the folders that have their own maps are in their respective folders), etc.

The high-res texture pack not only has high-res textures, but it has skyboxes, charsets, new weapon models, lights, etc.  Saying the collective pack is "yucky" doesn't really say much of anything.

It's a semi-faithful pack. And Joequake ain't exactly 'the engine' when it comes to effects and stuff.

The HUD, skybox, charset and other things have additional 'options' for your choosing, it's all in the text file.
By "yucky" I meant small and incomplete. I was only talking about the actual texture part of the pack, not the whole thing. I have a nice large pack I could share  that has a combination of QuakeWorld models and textures from the Facelift project and Rygel's high res texture pack (It lacks hud elements though). Oh, and thanks for the install info, Relomy. Wink

Rygel's pack is for darkplaces and will mostly look hardly any better than the much smaller stuff from QRP (which is included in the pack), if at all. The way textures are handled in DP is totally different from how joequake handles them. And QRP is pretty complete as far as standard textures go (I think it lacks maybe 5 standard textures).
I only used Rygel's pack to fill in the missing textures (which is quite a lot believe it or not), I left all the textures the Retexturing Project there. Also, I removed all the bump-map texture images since JoeQuake can't handle them. As for models, I used eQuake's armors and weapon models, but put in FuhQuake's health and ammo items (the ones you see in the Rabbit Run). Rygel's pack also has a very slick HUD design, but I have always preferred the classic design for some reason.
Hey Ho Let's Go
Idkbutlike2: Stop complaining and submit some Quake runs for SDA instead ;-)

There aren't that many missing textures, as long as you use the linking patch in QRP, at least as far as 'standard' textures go (ie. used in iD maps). I can check the Rygel's pack but honestly that's like four or five textures I'll be adding, if that.
Alright, I'm done complaining, just ignore my comments Tongue Really good job for the most part guys!

QuakeSDA updated July 26th, 2009

Today we present to you two crappy old maps (but fun to speedrun!) from czg, and one medium sized awesome looking map from Kell (which we for some reason unknown to me never added to the archive when it was released).

The three maps in question are:

    * czg00 - Tower Of Obscurity by Christian 'czg' Grawert. Call your demos czg0_xxx.dem
    * q1tm2_czg - Hard Traffic by Christian 'czg' Grawert. Call your demos tm2c_xxx.dem
    * ksp1 - Libris Vertiginis by Kell. Call your demos ksp1_xxx.dem

Is that the whole game? Is that even legally?

dex encouraged people to buy it from the store before using it (the eye-candy pak, atleast), because the paks and sounds are still (c) iD, I think.  They also said if any iD people have any problem with it, that they can just send an email and it will be removed.
Hey Ho Let's Go
Only a few textures and models are still (c) iD.

No. Remember, I don't get SDA mail, so I don't know which demos that have been sent.

It was a comment for the teamSDA in general, not you! You didn't even write that update  Grin
