Problem: QdQ-Stats progs.dat has been loaded into my id1 folder but is not catching on??

I am not a computer whiz, all i know is that the instructs told me to create a new game directory.... well hell, ID1 looked pretty so i posted it there.  I copied my old progs.dat  Do i need to refresh the use of progs??

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Extract qdqstats to a folder under the root directory of Quake. Example:

C:\Quake\Qdqstats

Run game with f.ex:

C:\quake\Glquake.exe -width 640 -height 480 -bpp 32 -game qdqstats

You can also remove the original progs.dat (it's in pak0.pak) and replace it with the qdqstats progs.

I  see. I'll give those a try.

How do i open pak0 if i want to.  Just double click? i have never tryed working with paks.

THE BIG THING is i ran qlquake with my width settings (1024..) -game but forgot to add qdqstats.  I will check that out.

Thanks both of you.
Hey Ho Let's Go
The newest build of Dzip (http://www.planetquake.com/sda/dzip) can open pak files. Just install it and doubleclick on whatever pak file you want to open.
Hell is where the heart is.
To be honest I wouldn't mess about replacing the original progs.dat.  Just do as Ripah suggests.

Extract the QdQstats progs.dat to a new directory and run quake with the -game parameter.

Of course, it's your choice though.

I also find it easier to keep track of demos this way. Any demos I download I put in quake/id1 (so they're watchable from anywhere) and anything I record myself ends up in quake/qdqstats (or whatever you choose to call it).

Why not? I've done that, and Nolan has done it too, so it can't be all that bad  Grin
yuck fou
well stubby...Nolan is a programmer, he knows what he's doing.
you on the other hand are a mad fucker, you don't have a clue about what's going on Wink

I don't believe BogoJoker falls into any of those categories.

I recommend doing it the normal way...just to be sure. You don't want to fuck up your paks.
Hey Ho Let's Go
True, I don't know shit about what I'm doing, but since Nolan said it was ok, then why the hell not do it  Wink

And I haven't experienced any problems with it whatsoever, so it should be safe enough.
Hell is where the heart is.
The only reason I suggest not doing it that way is just in case you fuck something up. If you've never edited a .pak before you might just do something silly whereaas putting it in a new directory is almost impossible to do wrong.

BTW. If you do want to frig about with .paks I suggest getting hold of QPed and/or Pak Explorer.

I'm a programmer in the making.

High school senior looking into computer science currently taking AP Java.

I have i think pak0,1,2 and copies of all three (my dads expert work).  But guess waht:

I find that the original way looks 2,000 times easier, (to be percise 2,003.11 times easier) so i will try that method.  I wonder if i can check out what the paks look like, as i havent been able to use the computer yet.

I will have another question up soon.

Thanks for the comments.
I'm addicted to games

Blasphemy!!!!!!!! Use Dzip you bastards!
Hell is where the heart is.
I don't use dzip for .pak stuff because it doesn't...

oh wait.

My version is 2 years old.

*ahem*.  dzip v2.9 does indeed appear to do everything .pak related you could want (except view .mdl files).
