When you have Camtasia Recorder open, go to tools-> options. Uncheck "Auto Configure" in video options, then set the fps. Then click on "Video Setup" and choose a good codec for capturing. I recommend you get ffdshow and then use that, and configure it to use HuffYUV, because I've found it to be pretty fast (better than Uncompressed).

i guess my graphicscard is [censored] or my computer
When I use your settnings the screen still keeps on taking low FPS, now its atleast 3.75 FPS Cheesy
and the picture reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, very many happy colors :S
I tried to use DIVX, it did actually wok quite well but still refuses to take 24 FPS...

i have a P4 2.66 GHz
ATI Radeon 9700 PRO 128MB
2*512 DDR 400 MHZ (No dual here :/)
Soundblaster Audigy Platinum

if someone has something like that I have got this to work... please tell me how...

oh yeah, im testing in Flatout and WoW...

And FRAPS works but lower my FPS to 7-9, and I dont find anywhere to change options in FRAPS thats why I threw it away after 15 min useage Cheesy

You don't just record straight into DivX. It strains the processor a lot and you'll get extremely low fps. You have to record into a "just dump the data onto a hard drive don't mind the file size" format. Just try using recording into Uncompressed and see if you get a higher frame rate. (you'll need lots of hard drive space)

Anyway, Uncompressed is also a pain in the ass, so I would use HuffYUV instead. It's a minimal amount of lossless compression which means your capturing won't be as limited by the speed of your hard drive. It works somewhat nicely for me, although my videos are still a little choppy...

ok, I can record nicely in that HufYV thingy... but only in i a small region, tried to record Zelda a link to the past on GBA emu and it went really well, my first 15min took 1.4 gb :S
just now I dont care about how much it takes
but now when I record in a highresolotion game it go down to 3 FPS, problary too demanding game, and the codec fuckes up...

Is there any other program that you can change size when playing? like if you play in 1024*768 and want the screen down to 640*480 when recording.. ?
Jack of all Trades
I would personally recommend FRAPS over Camtasia.

i only have the old version of fraps that only can record tops 30 FPS i think, and when I do that the game get serious lagg, from mere 99 FPS it gos down to 10 :/, but the quality is outstanding Cheesy
