Please finish this run as soon as possible, I simply can't wait to see the result! for what I've seen in youtube & twitch you guys are doing amazing job!

PS: I think most people following this run can understand why you guys have trouble beating Kingpin's time in chamber 16, but I might be wrong about what you're planning. if I''m right I will be completly shocked if you can beat his time...

Well we managed to beat Kingpin's time... and then we noticed that the person who recorded the first segment did it in such a way that our demos don't match up properly. D'oh! The good news is that they've already redone the first segment, and they saved even more time!

You guys are the beastest!
would any of these new strats be helpful for single segment runs? (I'm aware of chamber 18's first part)

the trick we've used in 11-12 is useful for SS runs (saves about 10s depending on how fast you can set it up), but we've told all the SS runners who know about it to avoid using it until the run comes out. Other than that, nothing is really too helpful, as in general all the timesavers we've found are WAY too difficult to set up in SS.

edit: We've found something ridiculous in 17. This might take longer than we had anticipated.

Finished chamber 17. We're uploading it as a sort of official trailer for the run.

I'd like to take the time to note that with this INBOUNDS run of ch17, we beat Demonstrate's OoB run of the same chamber from Portal Done Pro.

Gets the cake.
After hitting a MASSIVE roadblock at chamber 18 (primarily because it was fucking hard and nobody wanted to try the segments), we're now onto chamber 19, which will be the single most mindblowing map of this run. Maybe even any run ever. Who knows.

Also we're now sub-12, if we were to copy and paste kingpin's segments after what we already have. 11:40 will be easy at this point, and 11:30 is in our sights.

edit: Chamber 19 is tentatively done, but even if we redo we'll only be saving time. PS, we did it in less than 15s. No, that isn't a typo. Yes, this is still an inbounds run.
Get over here!
I can't wait for the finished project z1m. You guys never cease to amaze me. Keep up the great work!
Sorry, I've missed out on this, so apologies if it has been asked before: will this be submittable/submitted to SDA?
Yes, this is scriptless and as long as the verifiers are fine with the circumstances and the inbounds rules, this is submittable.

Just wanted to share something I found which might be usefull:

So I'm assuming you're gonna use iVerb's shot on escape_00 (if you dont know what im talking about here's the video)

I found that if you shoot the blue portal (the first one he shoots) to the left of the metal bar (instead of how he shoots it, to the right of it) you can make the tricky shot while peeking through the blue portal crouched, without needing to fall, if you aim at the very top-right corner of the portable wall you can see from there. (sorry for not having a video but I have no means of recording). done that way the shot becomes super-easy, and you dont need to fall all the way to the floor - you can just back up to the portal you're peeking through. Hope it'll help shaving couple of ticks (and possibly could be used in SS if you can get the first shot fast enough to make it for the 1st cycle of pistons consistanly)

I'm not certain if we're able to see the area we need to be able to shoot from there, and unfortunately I'm at work so I can't test anything right now...

I am really hoping we discover SOMETHING crazy in the escape, because as it stands the run reaches a massive climax at ch18 and 19 and then just goes back to old routes for a while =/

edit: I think imanex found a better way to do that part with the vertical pistons. Now that we've actually started looking into the escape maps, we're starting to find more interesting routes. Before we didn't bother to look, because the escape maps are just sorta... the end of the game. We'll be done with the run soon, hopefully.

We're almost done with escape_00, but we're holding off progress to go back and investigate a possible improvement in ch. 02-03. This presents a frustrating dilemma, since we've already done most of the game.

What we're going to do is go back and redo 02-03 with this new route (if it turns out to be faster), and then at the end of 03 we're going to try to match our position in the elevator with the position at the start of 04's elevator. In other words, we'll just be splicing in a new segment. Portal 2 segmented runs already do this, since A. they always start in the same position in the elevator in that game, and B. you're in an elevator anyways, so there's no benefit to be gained from redoing old segments (except during the escape).

This might seem a little sketchy, but there's no way to gain any kind of advantage since 04-19 are already done. The only advantage we gain is not having to redo the whole run. If SDA is opposed to this, we'll submit the run with the original 02-03 demos, and just upload the version of the run with the new 02-03 demos to youtube.

The reason why we're doing this is because we really really really want sub11, and we think this might get us pretty close...
Svart Lyser Tronen
For a segmented run. I personally think that you can make the game in any order you want as long as everything matches up nicely. And that should be pretty easy in a game like Portal which almost is ILs. Good luck.

SDA must accept this, some runs on this site (for example Diablo II 100%) does the exact same thing. Anyway, I'm really exited for new routes & better time, keep up the good work!
Yeah it's fine. As long as you're not obviously abusing it, they even allow minor discrepancies between segments (especially when they cost time rather than saving time)

So I finally got around to doing an newer, updated Out of Bounds tutorial (even though I'm crap at it myself). It's 40 minutes of going over all of the out of bound strats and variations.

Hello! I just randomly hopped on Imanex's channel and saw the link to this thread. I'm assuming you've got your inbounds run of chamber 15 at this point done, right? If so, where could I find it? (I assume it's a new WR, as I hold the old one :P).

We aren't releasing individual levels to the public so you will see it once the whole run is done =)

Good new though, we have now finished all of our last segments! We do have to go back and just review one more, but once that is done except to see the run.

The Hype oh my god;D;D;D
Who got the last segment?
Gets the cake.
Imanex got basically all of escape_02, and since nobody else is really trying at this point we've decided to keep his segments (that are by no means bad, they're really well done) and finish the run.

We have to redo ch18 still as a new trick was found there, but after that we'll be rendering, releasing to youtube, finishing comments, and submitting to SDA (in that order).

And 60 FPS hype somewhere in between? :p
I'd to see a version with 360 shutter style motion blur, if the demos were ever released I'd be up for making that.

I have made a non-blur version, because of YouTube's video compression, which makes everything (let alone motion-blur) look awful. And a 60-fps downloadable version doesn't really need a motion blur to look awesome IMO. Smiley

Awesome, is there a release date planned or will it just be up whenever?

Whenever someone does the last segment, which is like ultra-random.
