How's it possible that Blastoise is at such a high level? The only difference with the original Red concerning skipping stuff is Game Corner. I don't think you're getting that much more experience. I could be wrong though.
I think 2:30 is definately possible. When some parts are surely slower in Fire Red, Red is only a bit faster thanks to the Game Corner skip and X-accuracy'D Fissures. Some TMs are also harder to get, but still.
I agree though that I probably don't know enough of Fire Red speedrunning.
Advantages of Fire Red are though things like Torrent or Blaze sweep.

You're right. It's not that much more exp from the game corner. I use a total of 11 rare candies right before the rival fight before victory road.
2:30, probably possible, but I don't know for sure if it's possible in a single segment, because that's what I intend to do for my final run. Luck manipulation doesn't play a large part in my strategy, and where it does, it's very early on. Mega Kicking Surge's Raichu is probably the biggest luck basis in my entire run.
Due to X-attack, I can one or 2HKO Loreli's pokemon, and all of bruno, agatha, and lances pokes can be one or 2HKOed without assistance. The final rival fight is where the most items help. Pidgeot has both sand-attack and featherdance, so I used a guard spec., an X-accuracy, and X-speed, and an X-special, and then I'm able to one or 2HKO his as well. It's not quite as effective as fissure, but damn close.
Question: by adding one X-Attack more in some cases, would everything be an OHKO (for Lorelei for example)?
Probably, if you wanted to go shopping in celedon? I hadn't really thought to test that...how much time would it take to enter the building, go up to whatever floor it is, make purchases, and then go back downstairs and out? I could make that my final shopping stop though, I think?
Would there be an interest in a seperate run including the E4 round 2? A speedy collection of 60 dex entries, plus island crap, and the 2nd, harder E4 battle? What sort of time should I try for on that, if it would be of interest?
I would be interested to see an E4 Round 2. Weren't he E4 Round 2 pokes Lv60+ ???? Maybe getting Mewtwo (If you didn't use a Masterball) could help you.
I would be interested in seeing an Elite 4 round 2 run. Seeing as I have not played Fire Red or Leaf Green it would I would like to see just what this is...
Would it branch of the normal run like with Chrono Trigger's 100% is or would the routes up the the first Elite 4 vary too much?

The only difference is that you have to collect 60 dex entries, plus do some stuff on 4 different islands. Other than that, I believe the strat would be very similar.

I just might have to consider the M2 route. He's quite a bit out of the way though, so I'll have to see how Blastoise fares alone first. Since I have to collect 60 pokes, I'm sure I'll use the masterball someplace though!

Nope. You need 1 x-attack to 2HKO her lapras/cloister. 2 x-attacks put them in the red, and cause loreli to use full restores, which takes up even more time. 3 x-attacks OHKO all of her pokes. Torrent +x-special = OHKO all of bruno's and agatha's pokes. All of lances, besides gyrados, are already OHKO. And the rival battle the gyrados is the only thing that's not one or 2HKOed
infact i am typing everything on my Nintendo Wii - my only source of internet surfing.
anyway, after reading a topic about pokemon emerald (witch i already speed-ran) i feel like kicking myself in the head - they mention an abra for teleporting to save time. i could have saved and least 5 mins doing that method.

I don't know that I buy that. I can skip fly entirely by catching an abra, and it only would save about a minute and a half in this game.
well im mainly talking about emerald where alot of backtracking happen (like after you save the wingull,mt. cornet etc)
i am going to try the abra method in firered and without in leafgreen to see wich is faster.

Go ahead if you'd like, but I tested it already, and you only will save about 3 seconds, and that's assuming the first patch of grass you enter is an Abra, and you catch it first try.
Ultimatedarius has a very good idea, but he has to test it and I promised to keep my mouth shut. I bet 50 bucks not one of you will guess it before he says so.

Wow, you guys are really smart I would not even got close to solving all of that out. Jeeze maybe I will even do a run myself, using all of these little tricks (Note if I do, first speedrun!)
