moooh: Whether we start on Tuesday or Wednesday has no bearing on the amount of prep time we have, because we're going to have a prep day before the marathon.

It will affect the amount of people able to come and help with the preparations for sure. 1 day with 5 people or 1 day with 20 people is a whole different day Smiley
Ganondorf = Donkey Kong LOOK IT UP!!
AGDQ2 ._. Come on people let's use our heads here!
Sea of Green
As you might've guessed, since Lag said he's definitely coming, so am I. Tongue I prefer the Wednesday start and AGDQer but I guess I'm in the minority. (The problem with "AGDQ2" is that I'll want to say "Electric Boogaloo" after it all the time...)
My feelings on The Demon Rush
It seems like a Wednesday start (with Tuesday setup day) and a Monday end is edging out a Tuesday start (with Monday setup day) and a Sunday end, but I'd still like to see some more responses before making a decision.
#Casual
You could use EA's conventions -- AGDQ 2012!
Professional Second Banana
Didn't actually vote in my post - I vote Wednesday start.
SEGA Junkie
Definitely preferring the Wednesday start here too
Fucking Weeaboo
Wednesday start is easier for me to arrange days off then a Tuesday start.
every game is a horror game
I think Wednesday and Monday are probably the best options just because a lot of people watch during the weekend and Monday is more likely by time zones to still be a part of people's weekends. Cheesy

Also I'm throwing in I'm definitely coming to this year. I'm the ultimate chat reader! Only MTI can kick my ass at a powerful voice. Grin
Talk to the Hand
I kind of voted once already, but I'm now definitely preferring the Wednesday start.

SCREW YOU GUYS
Haters gonna hate
I actually really, really like the idea of just calling it Awesome Games Done Quick again.  We can refer to it as "the second AGDQ" or "AGDQ 2012" on stream, but keeping the actual name the same seems like a really good idea.  Failing that, I like AGDQ2 as is mentioned in the original post.

As for when, I'll make either one work (with none of the missing the first couple hours crap this time).  I'd probably have a more solid opinion once I know whether or not my work will give us New Year's Day observed on Monday the 2nd or a floating holiday. The former would make me lean Tuesday, the later Wednesday, but it's probably a few months before the 2012 holiday schedule is released and this should be set in stone long before then, so I'll stick with whatever.

My only concern with the dates at the moment is possible interference with MAGfest.  They haven't announced dates yet (or if they have it's somewhere other than their home site), but we're definitely looking at the same ballpark, and I'm sure there are those among us who would rather not have to decide how to split up their time.  If the MAGfest regulars would like to chime in on that subject, now would be a good time to do it.
I personally prefer a Tuesday to Sunday Schedule because classes start again on Monday for me and I'd prefer to miss as little as possible. In any case, we should set a date down as soon as possible so us Europeans can go and book our flights. (And so I can book mine before getting any doubts about actually going).

How much were the rooms + food last year? Didn't pay any real attention to that.

Rooms were a couple hundred bucks per person, if you stayed the whole time.  Food was everybody on their own, so it depends on what you eat.  The in-house cafe was expensive, unless you were one of those that were able to sneak in pretending you were part of a different group. Tongue
WOW.

I'm guessing, then, that you can pay for a room at a nightly rate.

The way it worked was that Mike calculated whatever you needed to pay based upon:
1. How many people in the room (if you got a private room, you paid more).
2. How long you were staying.

After that, we just paid Mike directly and he paid the 4H Center.  That's how I expect it to be done again this year.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Okay, I've decided we will start on Wednesday, January 4th, which means our setup day will be January 3rd, so if you want to be around for everything, then book a ticket for the 3rd. Convenience for our attendees wins against a Sunday finish for viewership. Tongue

The title: I have no problem with plain AGDQ, but we should make up our minds soon.

The Great Farming Empire
In all seriousness, I'll be able to attend this.

For games to run, I have these:
*Crash Twinsanity
*Billy Hatcher: The Giant Egg
*Metal Slug 3

I could also bring my laptop & help manage the chat if theres a shortage of laptops or moderators.
I'm addicted to games
I was hoping to actually do a run of something at the next marathon. Unfortunately with these dates the best I could do is arrive really late Friday, and leave Monday afternoon. I guess that's better than nothing though...

It was good to see you at AGDQ and it'll be good to see you there again, even if only for a couple of days. Smiley
