Why should all companions be on their highest "level", but not Mario? That confuses me right now.

Probably because Mario uses a leveling system, his friends require Mario to find and hit blocks. I have no idea really, but that is as good as my explanation goes
hey hey hey!!
all badges, all super blocks?  that pretty much covers everything i have to get....
heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh
I guess so, of course several things have to be done to collect all the badges. Collecting all the badges means collecting all the star pieces which means doing all the favors for the old koopa and playing mailman
hey hey hey!!
alright, sounds good!  i've been working on this a lot in the passed few days, but i forgot to write anything down.  i am going to update the route i have up there, changing segment 7 into 2 segments.
heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh
I can't wait to see this...
I personally think it should be "All badges, all super blocks, the Diploma, Kent C. Koopa & Buzzar beaten".

Badge doubles are required because they are still distinct and in limited supply -- it's like collecting every bottle in a Zelda game.  The only thing you could really debate on would be the useless Sound FX badges, but we may as well collect them as well.

The Diploma is kind of an award/trophy, but it does feel right to get it.  If we're getting the Diploma, then we may as well beat the other optional bosses -- Kent C. Koopa & Buzzar.  All other bosses are required to get all badges or work-around-able (Lemon Candy & quiz-winning for Anti Guy & Anti Squad respectively).

The Mystery Note is the only other event item (besides the Diploma) that isn't required for getting all badges, and you also get nothing for collecting or using it (it just tells you a code).  We should skip it -- it's like talking to NPCs for information.

Regarding Chuck Quizmo, here's how I usually go about it:

1) Take the warp pipe in the Toad Town Sewers to Goomba Village.
2) Go to the west exit (to where Mario was found at the start of the game), and repeatedly go back and forth through it unitl Chuck appears.  Get the Star Piece.
3) Take the warp pipes to Dry Dry Outpost.
4) Repeatedly go back and forth between the two parts of the town, each time checking his spots.  Once he appears, get the Star Piece.
5) loop back to 1)

Of course, during the normal game run-through, try to luck-manipulate him to appear in every town you go through.  Here are the places and number of locations, off the top of my head:
- Goomba Village (1)
- Toad Town (3)
- Koopa Village (2)
- Dry Dry Outpost (2)
- Yoshi Village (2)
- Shiver City (2)
- Star Haven (1)
- Starborn Valley????  Maybe.

Useless or not, a badge is a badge. And does Kent C. Bulldozer unlock a star piece/badge?

Question on the recipes: I read this in a walkthrough:

"Q: What are the Huh? for on the black board in Mario's house?
A: These are the statistics that appear and they keep track of how much you
have explored and progressed so far. From top to bottom they are:

                  - Coins Earned
                  - Badges Collected
                  - Star Pieces Collected
                  - Tayce T.'s Recipes
                  - Chuck Quizmo's Quizzes
                  - Number of Battles
                  - Your First Strikes
                  - Enemies' First Strikes
                  - Total Power Bounces

Some of the items such as the number of Power Bounces are just included
for fun as there is no maximum value for it. Others like Tayce T.'s
recipes are limited so you can see how far you progressed through the
  game.
"

What does that mean?

hey hey hey!!
damnit, can we just decide on the 100% requirements so i can get going with this route?????!!!!!

floogal, that's really weird, thats what i was planning on doing for chuck quizmo the whole time!!  that's so weird that we both figured that out!  anyway, recipes should NOT be in the run, because they are items and they can dissapear too, some recipes i do need, and some i don't.  like koopa tea, nutty cake, etc.  But other ones are just like saying i would need all items in the game because they are unique too.  but i don't know about the diploma really.

p.s.  i added segment 11 to the route

EDIT: added segment 12 too

EDIT: added segment 13 and 14

EDIT: added segment 15 and 16

everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music
All badges, all star pieces super blocks, final. How about that?

Doubles are required btw. They're limited and it's only the difference between 70 and 80, so seems reasonable.

Nobody is required to be max levels in any 100%.
I am not a NERD or a GEEK I am a N33K
does that go for TTYD too
i've made a huge mistake
Quote from Enhasa:

To put it even simpler, that just means all badges.
hey hey hey!!
and super blocks because wouldn't that count as an item?
everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music
BLARGH typo :-[ :-[ :-[ (I even said it correctly on the previous page)

All badges, super blocks.

Sorry about that.

Quote from SmashKing:

Of course not, that's a different game. Look in the TTYD thread for the definition.

hey hey hey!!
so i tried out the chuck quizmo segment and it took me 27 minutes to do, counting getting the badge, star piece and super block.  i made it it's own segment so you could skip it. it could have been faster because i missed 2 questions by accident.  things are going well....

I knew that quiz guy would be a pain but he is being a pain in many ways

Yes, which in turn would mean that the companions won't have to be on max level, you just have to get all eight (?) of them.

Of course I'm not actually as dumb as it may look now, because I can see the "SDA logic" behind "not max Mario level, but max companion level". It's just a technical thing with which I'm teasing right now.

One of us is illiterate and I'm not sure but I think it might be you.

Where did anyone ever rule that max companion level was required? You're trying to see the "SDA logic" behind something which isn't even true.
hey hey hey!!
the allies aren't leveling, thats why i'm making them their highest level.  because all it is is collecting items for leveling, not actually "leveling"

Yeah but you're not actually required to do it for 100%, that's what I mean. Doesn't mean it's not a good idea.

Edit: Getting super blocks != using super blocks.
heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh
I believe the 'logic' is that Mario uses a level system based on exp whereas his friend level by hitting a block. There are only 16 blocks to be found, but there are endless enemies to be found. Things which are found in limited numbers that have some effect are needed for a 100% run, enemies don't fall under that because they are all over the place at all times. (Or something along those lines)
hey hey hey!!
i liked how you explained that.  it's settled, all badges, all super blocks
