Haha I'm talking about the really old run thats 5:04, the dark isnt navigated without watt, although Im going to attempt to map out that area so I can do it in the dark too (lets face it that looks bamf and a lot faster then using watt).

And sweet Im glad I didnt get the name wrong (especially since its what, the first question for chuck quizmo) I could easily see me messing it up Tongue

Hehe.  Yeah.  I intend to play Paper Mario and Thousand Year Door again at some point.  About the only reason I keep Super Paper Mario around is because it completes the series to date.

I hope they make a new one, and go back to the formula that made the game great in the first place.
Lol my major problem when I first played it was they took an RPG (and a really good one at that) and basically downgraded it to a lame 3-d platformer, it was semi interesting, but nothing great, if i wanted a platformer I'd go get Mario Galexy.

Got first three segments planned, Pretty sure they are good, nothing major off the any% untill chapter 4, any changes so far are just extra items/star pieces. Two Koopa Koot favors too, the third segment plan is a little short, and both are done in Koopa Villiage *same area of it at that* and i grab a sleepy sheep thats convieniently on the way there. Also buy a fire flower at Koopa shop its 8 gp, not too out of the way, saves a pow block for turtles (which if used correctly can speed them up I think) and speeds up the fuzzy fight (not quite enough for the store/buy, but if the turtles go faster, then it should balance out in my favor) I was a little bored today, and I also think that anti guy wont mess anything up in chapter 4/5 so im happy about that too, though the real test for it has yet to come...

(decided to post that last paragraph to try and keep it semi on track, still want the dvd recorder :P)

Well, actually, I highly recommend Super Mario Galaxy. xD

It's almost as good as Super Mario 64, and no 3D Mario Game has come that close in a LONG time.

I'll be picking up Super Mario Galaxy 2 this coming Thursday if I can get my hands on a copy.

Anywho, sounds great!  At least you can plan for when you finally start the run. :3
Ya Im hoping the planning ive done will work out, the parts i know Im going to have to practice are Tubba Blubba's castle (spike room), Flower Fields (Super block with Crazee Dayzee guardians), and of course the dark room (lets face it, it looks awesome, gotta get that in) Those are just the hard to do parts, sadly the planning that Im sure im going to have to rework are letters (stupid chain) and Koopa Koot (why couldn't this be based in toad town)

Any tips you can think of/fun things I could attempt, I dont want it to be boring, but short of the epic crazee dayzee dodging I have planned, its gonna be just a speed run, I need more entertainment, wouldn't you agree?
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO unofficial (counted) time for a chuck quizmo is 20 seconds, which means 30 seconds is my guess for real time (ill get that sooner or later, he takes forever to spawn through save) but my guess was a min per segment, so thats just awesome, cut that by half and now i honestly think I can pull this whole thing off in sub 5 hours, though my goal will be sub 5:30, but I was thinking like 6 hours because of that. That just made my day, I still need to test everything that goes along with it (do i need to go offscreen for him to respawn there, or will he after a save, how many resets should i plan, does it matter, is there any way to make him appear more commonly?) But for now Im happy Smiley If i counted right then I can shave 40 min off my planned time, if im wrong i can still cut it down 30 min or so Cheesy really good news for planning, anyone that is planning this, at the left side of Koopa Village save spot he does spawn from save (though what is required to make him I'm unsure, it could be anything, or *as i hope* he will just randomly) and it can be done in roughly 20 seconds (and thats with me reading the question)
Wouldn't saving some Chuck Quizmo for Koopa Koot quests be more efficient? Also waiting to do Koot stuff later on is also better, right? Because then you would have the warps all there, and you can just go everywhere really quickly and hope that Chuck spawns as well. But only using 30 seconds for it does sound like it works reaaally well so maybe this is absolete. xD
Ideally I want 2-3 Quizzes while running around, maybe another 1-2 while working Koopa Koots stuff, another one while doing letters, But the fact is at best 90% of the quizzes are going to be done in thier own segments, so thinking about it I was hoping for roughly 60 by the last Koopa Koot (which requires all chapters, so all Chuck stuff can be done, Im not 100% if he requires chapters for some questions, but it doesnt hurt to plan in case of that) 60 by 1 min each meant an hour, but I finished my stuff early today (even did another segment check out of boredom lol) so I went to check this and was estatic, counting (because I got sick of timing nothing 20 times over) i got to 17, so 20 is an estimate, and 30 is more likely, which cuts my thoughts in half, which means my hopeful goal of 5:04 or better (guess what i want to beat lol) is now in the realm of possibilities, but still, I got a lot left to plan and test, that may change and be out of the realm of possibilities.

Time for another test... I dont think anything in the desert is really important for later in the run... at least nothing I havent thought of....

For anyone else attempting this, just ask for what I've got planned, ill share, and any insight that you have cant hurt me Cheesy
Ok so up to 4-5 intermission in planning, I officially hate Koopa Koot even more then I already do, gonna take like 2-3 segments after Chapter 4 to start chapter 5, but I'll get about 2/3 of the chain letter, and Koopa Koot favors done, it feels a bit like I'm doing errands, but pretty much everything that I do has a secondary reason for me moving that direction, so hopefully it looks good when I actually run it Cheesy

Also 2 plans for Chuck Quizmo

Plan A: (If Chuck will spawn only from restart *No screen change needed*) Just save in Koopa Village after doing Koopa Koot favors (or before the last one, which you should have in invy anyway) he respawns about 3 steps away from save block. (20-30 second segments)

Plan B: (If saving doesn't count as a screen change) Save in Koopa Village (same time) manipulate it so he appears once in Koopa Village, then manipulate it so he is in Goomba Village next, do the quizzes and go back to Koopa Village for a save (Do NOT talk to him if you see him in Koopa Village on return, unless you think you can luck manipulate Goomba Village twice in one segment). (1-2 minute segment estimate)

Plan A is faster, but plan B works in case of issues with Plan A.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
You've really been doing a lot of planning. :3
Well, with more segments, people will praobably start to become less impressed, is my opinion, but i guess you may have to to get all of Chuck
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Well, answering Chuck's riddles gives you star pieces, and the star pieces are mandatory.
The Plan is Im cutting out a bunch of segments from the any% (because a lot of the segments are just travelling, I can live with small mistakes (though not many) and give less base segments, but for chuck quizmo, basically I'll just say ignore segments 30-60 (total guess, Im taking a small break so still pre chapter 5 planned) all they are is me doing boing chuck quizmo stuff, or figure out how to append all the chuck segments and tell ppl to not download those. But even without the quiz segments I'd be extremely suprised to have less than 50 segments, Koopa Koot and letters keep you running around pretty well (trust me even with my planning so far, i think ive done a good job, it still looks like your doing errands...)

Im really happy too, because it is possible to get all the chain letters delivered before yoshi Island, which means it works out so no two trips to starborn valley for me Cheesy

Also Happy for my deviation (yay) everything up till these segments is basically what the any% does, with small side treks, but these are just way out of the way Cheesy makes me feel like im actually doing something now Tongue
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
This thread has been way too quiet for a week! >:3
Haha well not much to report on my part, and idk who else is working on this Smiley

I have my basic plan up to chapter 5 intermission, and right now im going through a rough run (leaving out a few tricks, and letting small mistakes slip by) to see what my time to beat should be (rather then just guessing)
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Cool.  At least you have the time. :3
Ya, glad to have that, but dont have the equipment Tongue ive got a ton of time before i need it though so oh well.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Yea.  Might as well get your route smoothed out and everything before you start recording. :3
Ya, im sure im missing something, after i did chapter 5 i noticed i forgot to get a hidden panel on mt rugget (i mean seriously there is ONE on mt rugged and you get the boots chapter after) so instead in my chapter 4-5 intermission when i get the letter from the tree in Dry Dry Desert (stupid Kolorado's camp is there untill after chapter 3, and its more convienient to stop by there after cahpter 4, since chapter 4 just happens to be in Toad Town instead of leaving it) I continue on to Mt. Rugged and save at the train station, instead of running back into Dry Dry Outpost.

Taking a short break now though, back on speed test in chapter 1-2 intermission, and a parakoopa/speedy spin are annoying me by ruining every attempt lol (not to mention bombette likes to not use her field special on the cannons before Ninja Koopas, and i get shot every 1 out of 5 times) lame...
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Just wondering about any progress. :3
hey hey hey!!
hey, im so glad someone actually is starting to work on this again. i kind of lost interest, but my route is still up if its any use to you now.
Ok, I took a LONG break from the game, but I'm gonna post the little I've done and assuming hw/working doesnt keep me busy I'll report more later.

So I'm doinga speed test (for times) of my run really rough to have a better guess of where I'll be on a real run and to make sure that I am collecting everything I should be up to now.

Im currently outside of Boo Mansion (least favorite segment) with everything i need (and 2 chuck answers) with 1:25 on the timer. Thats like 10 Min ahead of my plans and only 15 min behind the any%! Ill hopefully get to chapter 6 soon so I can start planning soon again.
Yay for that! Good luck!

Yes Mario Riding A Pole
is there a video up of a run for 100% or a practice run of 100% video? Or is there any partial videos in the works that are up for the 100% run?
