Hey everyone,

When trying to record a VHS run onto my laptop using Virtualdub (The settings outlined in the metroid2002 FAQ) and an ATI TV Wonder USB 2.0,I get an error message (Out of Memory for Video Buffers) when I go to hit F6 to capture. With the default tiny resolution, I can hit F6, but no frames are actually recorded. I had similar issues with a previous card from a different manufacturer, which leads me to believe that it's something with my computer that's messed up. Can anyone help me with this?

Also, when playing a run on VirtualDub, am I supposed to hear the sound?

I have the same card and it doesn't support VirtualDub. I've just used the bundled program, which is good enough for capturing. Just remember to capture in MPEG2 format as it seems to be the native type. If you capture in AVI, it starts dropping frames and getting desynced really quickly.

Okay, which of the bundled programs should I actually use? It installed 3 or 4 of them, and the "TV" part of one of them was no help (It just said "no TV signal found", though that was before I turned on the VCR).

The only one I have installed is the TV. It should run automatically when your computer detects the card. It never gave me a "no signal" error; usually it just tells me "card not detected".

Just to check, run the configuration program and make sure the TV Capture Source is the ATI USB 2.0 Video Capture.

Well, I just tried it again without the card; the actual message is "The TV Player failed to initialize the video. Check the Windows Device Manager to ensure that the correct video driver has been installed and is working properly before attempting to restart TV."

That sound about right?

Yeah, that sounds like Windows is having trouble detecting your card. You say you got a video feed in VirtualDub? Maybe the TV had a corrupt install and not the device itself? I can't really help you there sorry :-/.

Yeah, it plays fine, I just can't record. >_<

Hmm. How would I go about "refreshing" my driver? Can I (safely) remove it and let Windows re-detect it? I checked the NVIDIA website (The card itself is an NVIDIA GeForce 4 440 Go 64MB), and it doesn't seem there are any newer drivers than what I have.
