fluff check your garbage mail section. It's probably in there. And I don't mind helping... especially when asked. I'm just lazy and don't take the initiative. The lizalfos don't come down until after you shoot the switch right? That makes things difficult. But I don't get it anyways. If you save a minute in deku but then waste a minute in dodongo's, a minute in spirit, and a few seconds in jabu, what is the overall goal? Because you have to use the bomb or bombchu to open the starting door in jabu, and you have to do the lizalfos rooms in Dodongo's instead of bomb bag early. plus you also waste whatever time it takes to do it in spirit granted you use hover (most realistic option though you don't have something to do it off of) which takes lots of time. Basically it doesn't sound like it will save any time at all and will probably lose a little. Oh, and why didn't he restart and make a new segment after grabbing the slingshot? He has to pause anyways to throw it on a C-button. That just means he loses a little extra time when he grabs the slingshot, instead of gaining a little time by grabbing the slingshot.
jeez 250 pages! Shocked Shocked
was that the discussion for the old record?

No, for this run, actually.

And then there's about 3 more OoT topic with about 50-100 pages each.
just goes to show this is one of the most popular games for speedrunning....probably
at least, after 400 page, we got a run starting Smiley

nice job TSA,

I checked my junk email...

The Lizalfos come out when you go near the spot they come from, which is the left and right corners.
i can't wait for that game.....nintendo are announcing the release date for the game later this week! Grin

He's back!
I think 500 or so pages is worth it for a game that probally takes about 6 hours doing it the way Nintendo intended. I can catagorically say that a 3 hour using modern techniques is much harder than the old 5 hour run. Cutting a run down by over 50% is a definite justification. Pulling off this run also easily takes months to do given the length of the game and the tricks involved. A lot of people have never even pulled off some of these tricks never mind approaching an area after an hours play and be expected to do something 1st/2nd time round with deadly consequences if the trick messed up.

EDIT: It not actually the movements that I find tricky its timing I find difficult. I'm gonna ditch the skulltula tree skip and the bean skip because I can't get them with any form of consistentcy. The excetption is that movements are difficult to do for the seams and cucco jump.

Speed is the key.
A lot of people seem to think that speed running OoT is easy. It may not be the hardest game when playing normally, but speed running it is extremely hard (if you want to get things perfect, that is).

My OoT 100% run is seriously the hardest thing I have ever attempted.

That is true my SS run is very hard too but I can only pull it off with much of practise Smiley

Actually that applies even more so to Sonic games.

The Skulltula trick is easy once you know how.  I'll try to explain it my best.

After you get the infinite sword glitch activated off of the chest, watch Acryte's video a little bit to know where to line up the "B" button.  Once you have done that, do a side-hop towards the Skulltula while holding up your shield.  You will be stuck in the air.  Nevermind what everyone says about the 3 second timing crap.  Once you have side-hopped and are stuck in the air, hold left on the analog stick until you are ready to side-hop again.  After you side-hop again, hold right on the analog stick this time until you are ready to side-hop.  Then side-hop back to the right side.

As long as you keep side-hopping left to right, you won't get hurt or kill the Skulltula.

Shouldn't take much practice as long as you follow my steps.

I can tell you for sure that oot is much harder to speedrun than the sonic games I've tried for speed (1 and 2). Sonic 3 may be different, however, with all the shields, and none of the other games I'm really familiar with (somewhat sonic cd, but not enough). Some of the glitches you guys use after an hours play (for anyone doing an ss) has to be much more frustrating than missing a jump by a frame after 15 minutes of play.

But the thing with Sonic is your just fractions from giving up. I mean you could die or go way off track and waste >10 seconds.  What I'm getting at there is danger at every turn. In OoT, your mind starts jumping ahead of the game, you start mentally preparing yourself for a difficult part of the game and when you get there your pleading that you don't muck up and coming when that over you start thinking of another bit thats 10 mins away. I'm gonna have a shot at this tommorow and I still can get the trick in the tree to work, as I can't get the correct line for the sidehop. The only part where I am in the moment is when I've got the last Medalion.
Retired
In all honesty, I'm so busy now...and it's only going to get busier. Im' playing Tingle RPG quite a bit.  Then this weekend, I've got the Wii party.  Then I have one weekend where I have a break...I'll get up more segments more than likely then, at least time to upload 10/11/12.

Then, first week of Oct, I launch my new site.  It gets really busy from there.  When Wii and TP come out, say goodbye to me for months.  Looking like my run will get to segment 12-14 range by then, but as for last few, probably don't expect them for...awhile...heh.

Thanks, but when I get to the page, it says to download something... And it takes about 2 seconds to load... And it doesn't work on my DivX player. So what do I need to do once I click your link?  Shocked

Speed is the key.
Either you download the .avi file with bittorrent, or the .m64 file (but you have to play it in Mupen64).

DivX is so old...  Get VLC Media Player.  *Google it*
I've repeated this so many times: use VLC Media Player if you get ANY codec-related problems -- it's compatible with just about anything! Alternatively, you can watch the TAS on Google Video (use the query "OoT TAS"; it's the first result).

so then use hover off the lizalfos and have Guano test both to see which is fastest. Im sure slingshot skip is slower. You lose time in spirit both w/ hover (in 2 places), dodongo's Cavern (bombbag early) and a tiny bit in jabu jabu.

DJS - No, no, no. I'm saying that you may have already activated a tilting cheat and that you need to turn it off. Also, if you are all the way to ganon's castle... why not just learn to bombhover? It is very, very, very, very, very, easy. It might take you like 2-10 minutes depending on how hard a time you have w/ it before you get into there... but seriously, on emu especially it will probably take you like... 2-3 minutes. Versus playing 7+ hours of zelda again... but like I said, if the tilting cheat is still on in your emu it won't matter how many times you get there because honestly, everytime it loads that bridge, the emu is gonna make it tilt... so, you can either waste hours upon hours of time, switch off tilt, or learn to bombhover and also have a cool new trick under your belt. Your choice. Easy way to tell if you have tilt on... go check the windmill house... tell me if it looks... normal...

Its on YouTube everywhere and within this topic. There's no point condeming yourself. Just keep attempting it untill you get it. I sucked major at nearly all these tricks first time round but I was eventually able to get most of them.

P.s. Use the modify button to prevent short double and triple posting. Unless you're posting a link or constructing a long post

OK ok, but I seen all this videos, but for example. In yautjas 100% run segment 19, he skips the owl, but how can he get endless sword gltich there? And wenn i got that and im bomb  what button shall i press to hop? Is it A or Backflip or Roll or what?

He doesn't use the endless sword glitch he uses a ground jump, which can be mastered in literally 2 mins. You do a backflip, but sidehop works as well. The endless sword glitch can be done on anything where Link is able to check or grab something.
