I would love to do this run... The problem...

SCHOOL.
forum lurker
I don't see how school could stop someone from speedrunning.  I go to school 6 and a half hours a day like everyone else.  I get homework, hang out with my friends, and I still have time.  I think it's just a big excuse.

Well, it would certainly be nice to have all the free time in the world to play video games.

Unfortunately, that's not the case for me or most other people.

Long live SF64!
[Totally Off Topic:]
When I've got classes full time I'm doing school or homework like 15-20 hours a day and the other time is for meals, girlfriend, and occassionally sleep.

Right now I'm doing this Cooperative Education thing where I'm working a real job 40 hours a week and taking 4 hours of classes on the side.  I'm also active in Church and at the Baptist Student Center, and I play flute.  Compared to school though this feels like vacation...hence I'm on SDA a lot posting and I've done some speedrunning.

When school starts back (in the Spring for me) I don't even touch the Nintendo except maybe to play a quick round on Episode I Racer or something to get my adrenaline up before more studying.

I think manocheese can try run this game but if he haven't practiced those glitches what that run need it would be hard to run this game i think :-/
Food goes in here
I literally have about 7-8 hours after I get hom from school to play games or do whatever(speedruns) just cause I have almost no responsibilities. Wink

Though I might not be good enough at OoT to try it for a first run.

Oh, and I got all the way down into the scrub room before ghoma with no textures (wallclipping in the 3 platform room)... but no luck. when you go through the normal load points that load graphics for the bottom room or the top one when you are climbing (or falling) it still doesn't load it... so, no luck w/ that. If we could do it, there is that baba that is close enough to hit you while you are on the vines, and I was tinking it might be possible to skip all the way to that deku scrub room... oh well.

If you are being blown in OoT by wind, if you sidehop or backflip or just jump into the air even, and press a magic spell (that can be used in that room) or a bottle w/ something in it, you can cancel out the wind and fall straight down. I don't think this works for hover glitch... I think you can't use anything afterwards (like bombchus). If it is at all similar in MM you might even be able to do lullaby skip easier, IDK.

Cool.

Icicles own fluffy kitten... this is fun for the whole family.
But I was almost certain you were gonna just skip to the end once you raised the door, using the bomb hover and staircase methods... but whatever good stuff.

Hehe...  I never thought of that. Tongue

I think I'll redo it.  Right now I'm practicing the Water Temple.  Damn Tektites don't like me.

Nevermind about redoing it... The ladder hover is harder than it looks (when on ice, not normal ground; normal ground is easy).

Nice work. I just hope it's not another one of "Acryte's impossible tricks"...

Me too... I can't wait to see it.  I was just about to go and get Ice Arrows. Tongue

Edit:

Here's a video of how to skip lots of keys in Fire Temple.

I also found 2 acute angles that you need superslide for.

1. In Kakariko Village, where the gate would be, there is that grey brick wall.  You can superslide through it and into the void.

2. Right where the entrance to Gerudo Valley is, there is a fence against the wall (it is the one on the left).  You can superslide through to fall into the void.

yeah fluff I did that a long time ago... I think it is posted somewhere back there. Good vid though, it makes it that much easier to find.

The ice arrows skip is easy and I can do it 100% of the time. The only hard part is getting into training ground as a kid... I tried superslides and jumpslashes and hyper boosts but you can't get in unless you skip the texture loads, so too bad...

sorry, im dumb. you can do the same thing to get out, but its faster to savewarp.

Isn't that a boundary violation, though? If so, Yautja probably won't be able to use it if he intends to submit his run to SDA.

omg im so glad :D.. Im gonnna save money to Zelda COllectors Edition... though i have allready OOT on Wind Waker but i want Majoras Mask on GCN...Oh.. guys btw.. why isnt A link to the past with Collectors Edition?
This isn't the place to ask that, but the reason, according to Nintendo, is that you could play the ALttP port via a GameBoy player.  Roll Eyes

no it's not any more of a boundary violation then early shadow is... you are on the skybox and slide along it (over visible ground even) and then fall off at the end of the skybox, and then fall to the ground (bypassing the load). Then some of the textures are not there, kind of like ganon's tower skip, but in gerudo fortress. The stuff is there, the texture's aren't.

Clearly you're not taking Art...

Anyway, awesome trick Acryte. I'm actually tempted to do that during normal playthroughs now. >_>

I have a question for you guys, I'd do it myself but I have work so... When you beat forest as a kid, does shiek go away if you killed phantom ganon, or only if you grabbed the medallion? (please answer only if you have done this before). Just don't want to assume anything and overlook stuff like that.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Nice skip, Acryte.

I've practiced all of them quite a bit except for the recent vine trick and bombchu hover (I've practiced it somewhat, but I can't do it very fast).

Sad

I have literally around 6 hours a day too, but, well, i have to take them by force, because my school starts at around noon and ends in the evening. Add responsibilities and alike and you get less than a few hours a day for real playing (i don't usually play before school, only listen to music...i can't focus properly in the morning). So, i haven't slept for more than six hours a day this month and this will keep up to the end of the year.

Don't think!  feeeeeal
Find a way to do vine skip as adult.

How much testing has been done on the forest temple done as child crash?  Does it still crash if you have all 3 medalions, and maybe done some other stuff like become adult then go back to child.

After seeing this firsthand, Im taking an educated guess and saying that the game doesn't crash, and that the reason it seems to is because when you are an adult, maybe certain cutscenes, etc are available (public private matters) or something to the extent of it trying to get the video and it can't. The game isn't frozen, you are still pulling frames, and you don't have that yellow bar or anything (usually all loading errors for textures that result in a freeze will give you that bar).

So I'm pretty sure it just gets to a point where it tries to grab something it can't and sits there because it has nothing else to do, whereas... it is waiting. You on the otherhand aren't able to input keys. I'll bet you that if you used the "move around in cutscene's" cheats if it works how I think it does (lets you input data from the controller) then you could pause the game and save. But, whatever. I don't think that the game is frozen, I think the game is waiting... kind of like when you climb off the top of the ladder in dodongo's cavern while the eye animation activates, and link falls halfway down and freezes in the air. It would appear the game is frozen... but there is no yellow bar, cutscenes are still able to progress framewise, and you can hear the deku scrubs moving around in the background... the only thing about the other instance is you have no music queued and you have nothing loaded because all they need is for a cutscene to play (and this cutscene is scripted when it comes to positions and movements, etc)... though w/ levtation you can still alter your vertical height (but not enough to die from respawn I do not believe).

Wow that was longwinded and poorly fragmented, sorry.

I really wish we could do something like the light arrow barriers glitch that I found way back in the day, but for warps... I remember trying it before using ocarina items, and trying to warp out... like you can do w/ King zora when he starts moving (you can pause before an dhten use an item... if you warp w/ sun's song.... HE'S BACK TO THE BEGINNING DANG IT!... or w/ the barrier's you could shoot it and then use your ocarina and play a warp song... heck I even tried to shoot it and exit through the door but there isnt' enought time. but you can't warp in there... or you can play other songs while the cutscene is going and have overlapping cutscene's)
_________________________

Oh my gosh! Nevermind, YOU CAN ACTIVATE THE WARP AND ALSO ACTIVATE AN ITEM USING OCARINA ITEMS GLITCH if you land at the very edge of the warp... you can drop a bottled item, or bust it out like an ocarina... I will start testing this....

(Nonwarp songs/ Cancel out of ocarina) -  you can even start running AWAY from the warp.... this is insane (it is still warping you and you can run around and spin in circles while floating slightly above the ground) You can use any of your normally usable items now as well... like bombs and the like. Now, you can die while the blue thing is rising and save/quit and you can go into the cutscene w/ 0 hearts. Unfortunately, when the 1st cutscene ends and the 2nd one fails to load, it still doesn't check link's hp :(. I was hoping that maybe you could awaken saria and then afterwards.... save/quit to the menu! that would have been pro because then we could have beaten forest as a kid. But, I will keep looking into all this for possible solutions.

Warpsongs - you can't keep the dialogue w/out keeping the game paused, so too bad... this would have been insanely sweet.

Saria's song - You can keep the dialogue up, but when the screen fades white, the box will disappear. I will try making it bring up the next one right as the screen goes fully white, to see if I can get the dialogues into the next cutscene or not.

Man w/ bombchu's timing... link looks like he is Sky Diving! lol.

OH man, you can grab the heart!!! Im gonna see if you can get infinite hearts like skultulla trick lol! Dang it! So far no luck... it seems to delete it w/out you making the prompt go away... I have cancelled out of it so early that it didn't even show the box for the text lol.

Firstly, sword glitch won't keep you on the ground. Blah Blah Blah... nothing cool has come out of this except for skydiving. That's lame, since it had potential for 2 major tricks. Insane... I did it and used sun's song, to make the door in ghoma's room open back up. Then I did the blue warp trick again and then backran all the way into the next room and cancelled the bluewarp lol.
