I'm sorry to hear you have quit this run TSA. But I respect yor decision. This community run could be cool, I hope Radix allows it. Smiley

I find that really ironic that under conventional methods following the old 5 hour route  it would take the longest to do in the whole game, but if you entered it as a child you could be the whole thing in 3-4 mins using that method, the only place that can be beaten quicker is DC with bombchu's and bottle-switch strategy. This is just asking to be completed as a child now as part of a fun run. I would do it if I had a file with an incomplete Forest Temple and maximum amout of bomchu's since I take way more to do the hovering method. Although the insane option would be to hover right over the area and drop down below and then enter the boss room as an Adult, but I doubt the resources would be there and any potential time saving benefit. That is really annoying though if the game didn't crash as a child when completing FT then it would probally be worth doing in a BA + Gannon early strategy run.

Although having seen fluffy's video of the Deku tree vine glitch, it might be worth testing on Mupen to see if its somehow possible to get boosted by the gold skulltula into the water.

Aw man... I really want to help you guys, but I don't have a recorder to record my run (well I can do it for VHS, but I don't know how I'll get it into my computer), I also don't know where to buy one, I don't have the money because I'm saving up for the Wii...

I love the idea of a community run, and I'd love to participate in it, but it will be hard... (Like the people have mentioned, you need):

-Same version of OoT (either GC or not), version 1.0 or newer ones
-Same amount of items in each run
-Same time of day

I think people have already said these, but I just wanted to list them for your guy's conveniance.

I'd love to participate as well, but I dont have any way of transfering videos.:( What would I need if I was going to make some vids? I only have the N64 version. I used to have both, but I lent it to someone and he never returned it. Angry

Ok, we definetly are NOT doing a community run, so stop saying "boohoo I wish I could take part in it". Tongue
Everybody loves Hypnotoad!
Yeah, it really wouldn't work. Cry  Time of day sort of kills it, as do version differences.

Still, fun thought.
Stand: Devil's Call in your Heart
there should be a run made just for fun and leaving inconsistencies.

it would be entertaining to watch how people pick up each segment.

Ya I figured that was possible kazooie, good stuff. Ill inform the TASers about it since they are doing Light Arrow B. I wonder how fast the new one will be... sub 2?

-Same amount of items in each run (use the optimal amount of items...)

and if we ever do it... we'd need suns song. that way we can reset the time (get it!) and we will barely lose too much time (if we decide to light arrow B this thing like true pros) and we grab the sun's song when we grab the bottle from kakariko. Right? When you learn requiem, you reset the time.... but if we skip that, then we also need to have the same person that did segment 3, do 4 and then have segment 5 run and get sun's song, and then go to dodongo's cavern. Then we can all go to whatever segment we want w/ the optimal amount of items and then we can play sun's song at the beginning of outside segments in order to reset that. then we can easily do the other stuff. get it? Version differences don't matter. Only noticeable thing will be the change from PAL to NTSC (eeeeww) or the red B button on GCN versus the green N64 one... but that doesn't even matter. So, I say it's doable... and it would be lots of fun... and I would love to try dodongo's cavern or even light arrow B and ganon early. If someone has a version difference that stops light arrow B then have somoene else do the segment right? But, OoT carts are like 10 bucks so finding a 1.0 is not very hard.

None of this sounds logical. Like I said before use a GC version as there all the same version and running speed universally. I've tried really hard for years to find the 1.0. N64 version but it never seems to pop up. Question: Are all the versions of OoT that came out on the first day 1.0. even the PAL versions? Cause I bought it on the day it came out but sold it six months later, until the Gc version renewed my interest in it again.

In terms of Daylight it won't affect the deku tree stuff, but someone will have to go for broke on making the journey from Kokiri to the Spirit Temple. The Requiem will reset itself the time of day. The time is also reset after DC, Jabu and Impa conversation, so long and difficult segements will need to be attempted. The Adult stuff won't be too much to worry about.
Long live SF64!

Is there a way to search for stuff just in this thread? When I use the search function it searches everywhere and brings up meaningless posts. Even when I narrow it down to "Newer Consoles" it still isn't very helpful.

Try clicking on "Print" which will make a 400+ page html document, then use ctrl-F to do a word search...

I also made a pdf from the print page containing the entire thread up until earlier today.  I like adobe's search function and I though others might like to have a pdf hardcopy of everything up until just after TSA retired for searching or whatever...it's on filefront

Hope this is helpful...maybe...
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
I might do this run... I will need to do some research first, however... My route would probably skip the Gauntlets and Bracelet and get bombs, then go Shadow-->Spirit and get the Gauntlets, then superslide over to the Mirror Shield and continue from there and beat the Forest Temple and have lots of run-on sentences.

I have no clue if all of them are the PAL version, but I have version 1.0! Smiley (I can't believe it... My dad bought it too, and he's no gamer.) Cheesy

And where on earth do you find Master Quest disks? I mean, didn't it come if you pre-ordered TWW? Does anybody know if a STORE will sell Master Quest by itself? (STORE, not Ebay or something.)
Stand: Devil's Call in your Heart
MQ is very hard to come by due to the whole bonus disk thing (they don't reprint those, unlike regular games)

find it all on ebay for cheap. As for the why I myself use a N64 over GCN since I have both (other than the fact that you can do more glitches on 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2), is that I can't plug my N64 controller into my GCN. (im sure there are those that agree and disagree)  Shocked

At the time of this post there are 42 Master quests up on ebay, and 14 Gold OoT carts (note that gold is always 1.0... the gray 1.0s are the hard ones to find, and most people don't know how to tell the difference, so you mostly just buy it and then check the timestamp)

sweet. Just bought that GCN 4 zelda disc.

heck there was a gold OoT + Gold MM w/ manuals, boxes, and strat guides one for like 16 bucks... crap.
wise fwom yo gwave
What you guys should do, is figure out which segments are going to have time/item issues, and wait until those are completed optimally (i.e. have someone post best video), then move on to the next segment. There can't be that many segments with issues with these things, can there?
Zelda Scientist®
ya but optimal still isn't freaking frame perfection, so unless you have a way to reset the time (certain cutscenes, or sun's song) then bleh, it isn't gonna happen....

Well I have both OoT+MQ & Zelda collectors addition (which means 6 save slots), which was hard to find although I should of been entitled to it when I bought F-Zero GX, I complained to the store at the time but they said there was no such offer. I got the MQ bonus disk because I pre-ordered the game and then purchased my guaranteed copy on the day which was just as well since that very store had 20+ pre-orders for TWW. The bonus disk was my only motivation for doing it since I thought MQ was going to be a radicalised version of OoT.
Maybe somes of the zelda speedrunner could do a "OoT speedrun in honnor of TSA" thingy...

nice AKA... I got mine when my friend preordered and purchased the windwaker for me since I had 5 free slaps on him. Sold em off for 10 bucks a piece hahaha.

1 ocarina of time off my cousin in a trade (for battletanks 2 owned) and 2 for $10 a piece (back when they were still like $40), and 1 for $15. Not bad I'd say.

i have 2 OoT 1.0 carts (gold and regular. i got the gold one used much later), 2 MM carts, the OoT/MQ disk and the collector's edition.
i would use the OoT carts more if it wasn't for the fact that i have to unplug the 64DD to use them since they don't work with the thing plugged in the N64.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
The GCN version has slow load times compared to N64... Restarting the game takes eons. The save system also sucks because Nintendo made it so carelessly. V_V It's too bad my '64 and game are screwed up from GameShark.
Zelda Rulez!
So how is gonna run this game now Huh?
I want to ask because no one haven't posted anything here for a while.
