I am sure, tough, that you can save in the Gerudo Training ground (and restart there).
But it's closed as a child, I think.

It is..meaning you would have to find an easy way to glitch into there.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.

What the hell is Thieve's Hideout?

Thieves' Hideout is the big building in Gerudo's Fortress. Gerudo's Fortress is the area that has the big building and the archery test. It also has the big gate.
Sorry to be digressing again, but how are we getting two segments in the Deku tree without costing time? Do you save and quit as soon as the first web breaks or something?
He's back!
You can save at thieves and you'll restart at the entrance nearest to the jail cell.
Speed is the key.

Save/Quit after slingshot. It's faster than doing the Deku Tree in one segment.

I live.

Okay, a few things.

Segment 3/4 (Deku Tree) done.  I've also found a few cool things.  I was able, at random, to damage boost from the Skulltula to the upper level twice, and got it on footage.  But it is so random and not really plausible to use in this run.  I also found out if you input the sword button with frame-precision during any burning of the web part - right before one (the ones blocking doors or hallways), you can trigger Link's sword while burning, which I also caught on video.  Finally, I found a way to make link damage boost across a block really weird.  It is not useful, but interesting.

I actually on video got a damage boost to upper level + land on switch...but the run failed at the block and skulltula...oh the horror.

I think I may redo segment 3 quickly tomorrow because I found a slightly faster way to traverse to the log jump at the start, and then an easy way to roll.  But I think my rolling in segment 3 was very good.

The only slight error in segment 3 was an extra menu toggle...not even a second lost, but it's at the end of the segment, heh.

Segment 4 - I did not land on the switch, and the water platform was not in the optimal spot.  I also pushed the block once because the time I spend aiming with no push actually makes it take longer for me than with with push - which I pretty much run and jump right away.

I also have a faster way of reaching the block after the tunnel - backflip 2x, side hop 4x.  You're right in front of the block, perfectly.

I also had a damn good Deku Scrub 2-3-1 part.  Got them all with first fires, and got them to do their fires back-to-back-to-back so no waiting at all.

I'm tired as hell, I'll compress and upload tomorrow.
Speed is the key.
I believe Acryte discovered the skulltula boost from the first web, I was using it when the skulltula got in the right position, unfortunately it wasn't in the segment I kept. I've also known that you can put out the deku sword by pulling out your sword when burning the web. I'm always trying to do that, but it's pretty hard, hehe. I also had a perfect 2-3-1 deku scrub room in a practice run, but sadly, I didn't get it in the segment.

Seriously, good work. Can't wait to see those segments.

I found a trick that works for both OoT and MM that's way faster then backwalking if used in the right places.

Combined with hover boots can be quite useful me thinks.

Biggoron Sword sidequest just got pwned. Superb job Fierce.

Edit: That's also an easier way to do the long glide, is it not?

Edit: How exactly do you do it, though? I mean, I have been trying for like 1 minute and not figured it out. Tongue

Basically it's the same thing as the ground jump except that you're trying to get an equal and opposite reaction by rolling.

Hold out your shield. Get close to something you can grab. Walk back a little to give yourself some space.

Now the trick is..the bomb or enemy has to hit your shield before you stand up after rolling.

While rolling mash the grab button and you should bounce back after your shield is hit.

Now all you have to do is hold your shield.
hey guys, just a suggestion but maybe you should try to use that trick to get into ganon's castle without beating shadow or spirit?  maybe you could combine with seam tricks? once again, just suggestions.
Speed is the key.
We'd still need the light arrows.

He's back!
I knew about that trick a very long time ago, but that was with Nayru's love and not with enemies or bombs, so good find I'll have to investigate if Ganon Early is possible with it. I still can't do it I don't know if its masterable.

EDIT: I tested the gap in Shadow and its as easy as pie, I floated all the way to the door. I did it with Nayru's love and there is no need to time a pause, just as soon as you get the glide you can switch imeadiatley to hover boots. I'll need to test some other gaps that aren't otherwise possible with mega jump or glide. Ganon Early was inconclusive because its difficult to get the grab to appear without taking damage and I had to go way back to find flat land which makes it almost impossible to get the right line hence inconclusive.

Btw, I now can damage boost from enemies without taking damage during a roll.

In a related Zelda, but unrelated OoT note:  TMC's graphical detecion flaws are now my happiness.  You can roll through any enemy without a front "blockade" without any damage or delay.  It's so friggin cool.

Its just timing. It took me a couple of hours the first time I did this trick with a bomb. (I wasn't sure if it was possible)
Now I can get it most of the time.

Everybody loves Hypnotoad!
Is it any faster than Goron rolling in MM?  Also, as long as you have bombs, it can be done anywhere, right?

I think it's wonderful that discoveries like this is still being made. Imagine your random zelda fan, going to watch a OoT speedrun, then sees that trick. He'll remember it forever (ok, maybe not forever, but for a long time). It looks so damn cool, too. Link literally flying around Hyrule Field, faster than Epona. Grin

Bombs are definately worth getting now, I think.

Me too, I think we should get the bombs..but would that mean getting the Goron Bracelet so that we can ground jump and shortcut DC? Or are we going to use the Bombchu Bowling way and not use the Power Slide until we're an adult?

Zelda Rulez!
Wow Shocked that was really awesome glitch!!!
good job Fierce!!!
I have discovered some new great glitches too and meaby those help you in speedrun Smiley

I gonna try that glitch right now and fierce you are good zelda glitch finder Wink

I can't watch it, but I assume it is some trick that makes you go further and faster than the hover boot bomb blast?

And does this immediately affect my run?

Yes Nayru's love was used for conveniece sake but heres how far you can go with hover.

I don't think I get the most efficient backflip since it very hard to pruduce a optimal result with it.
Certainly useful for moving around hyrule field, but considering we need bombs it seems like it's better to use it in the 100% run more than the any%.
