Yes, a cucco riding the ground.

Ok I've now decided to skip ever entering Gerudo or Desert area as a child and for that matter FW, instead I'll use the hover boost across the bridge and hover onto the rock structure.

Can't you just hookshot the bridge? *Goes to test*
Retired
Probably...but not sure.  Even if the red dot doesn't show, the hookshot can still make it to places.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Hmm, I just tried and it can't reach, even if you go to the very edge. I even tried jumping off and shooting the hookshot; didn't work. I could only dive unless I jumped at a sharp angle. Oh well.

You can do it with hover.

Can't wait for your vid, TSA.

I know. I just seem to remember someone (either fluffy_kitten or stott) saying you could hookshot over, which would save some time.

On a side note, TSA, do you plan on perfecting every segment like this? If so, more power to ya.

Speed is the key.
Comments on segment 2:

-Maybe you could get out of Link's house without changing the view? Would save ½ sec.

-You did a very fast turn + backflip after the Saria cutscene, fastest I've seen so far. Nice.

-You don't get the climb at first (after getting rupees in grass), probably lost 1 sec.

-Backflipping over the fences was extremely well done.

-You had a superb boulder area, Kokiri Sword text-box was skimmed through perfectly.

-You missed a few slashes on the bushes, lost 1 sec.

-Nice backwalk to shop.

-Try using roll-jumps when crossing the river, I'm pretty sure they speed things up.

-Are you sure it's faster to side hop over the river instead of just plain swimming over it? It seems faster to me. If it is faster to sidehop across, maybe you could backflip over the tree root, then backwalk into side hop position, then side hop 3 times, turn around and talk to Mido? Maybe it's too hard, but I think you can walk against the root to align yourself.

-You missed 2 slashes at one Deku Baba, ½ sec lost.

You probably know about your mistakes, but those are my comments anyway. Overall very good. Wink

Edit: The Kokiri text skip outside the shop will be impossible to do, even in a TAS. I tested it on an emulator and to skip it, you would have to get into the warp-zone before the text kicks in. If you get into the warpzone after the text activates, you'll just stand there and when the text disappear, you will get warped.

Good. With ground-jump?

I tried getting on top of the logs in other areas of the forest, without sucess.

Edit: I can't view that video, it doesn't start.  :-/

Edit: That site is totally bugged, if I try to click on a link, it gets stuck, I can't view the vid, either. Please upload to YouTube.

youtube went nuts on me. I uploaded 3 times and it says successful, but then I check and later it says Failed because it is the wrong format. I tried 3 types of encodes that I usually use. I'm not happy about that but I'll try again. retrying for 4th time on youtube.

That's odd. I always use XviD for my vids, it always works. Smiley
give me your eyes!!!
They've changed youtube. I had the problem with incorrect format since it wasn't using the entire file extension, so in order to upload vids I must click on the link just below it then browse -> upload as normal.

You may not be able to see the link clearly since the graphics shift downwards and overlap (at least for me), in which case just click around just below the left of the file name space until you get it.

I watched the vid on YouTube now, good work. A simple backflip, huh? Roll Eyes

Did you seriously just backflip past him?  Seriously?
Speed is the key.
Yup. He had to go into first person view and then immediately backflip to avoid talking to him. Plus, he had to stand at the exact spot. It's still easy, got it instantly. Good work Acryte.

you don't even need to have an exact spot. I just reuploaded it. Yeah you can just run really close and then go to Cup, aim it and then backflip.

I love the look he gives you:  what do you think you're doing?  This definitely means that you'll want to skip the bracelet, since no way can Spirit Temple as a child take longer than the combination of visiting Saria, learning the song, and playing it for Darunia, though I suppose the fact that you would now be skipping the Requiem has to be factored in as well.

man that is lame, I went to spirt and tried to bypass the after siler gauntlet cutscene... but... they remove the warp from doorway so even if you sidehop quickly you can't leave, and also, even if you are dead (0 hearts... using bomb)... you still don't die. (wanted to see effect w/ fairy)

now that we have removed all thge roadblocks, we should probably concentrate our efforts towards skipping cutscenes.

Mad Andy: tried but they have a different coverage area past the sides. At least that is how it seems...

Mhm, does this work for child aswell to exit the forest early or avoid picking up the shield/sword?

I already tried it on the first Mido and it doesn't work. And no chance it'll work on the other Kokiri, it's an invisible wall behind him.

Edit: I have a new trick for Spirit, probably useless, but cool. I'll have a video up in an hour.
he, cool trick acryte.
Too bad for SG-Skip, though. At least we dont have to push this block Grin

ugh, yeah that is if we get bombs anyways, though that would seem to be slower than pushing it right? The mix and match... that is what we need, but then again if you go through till gauntlets, it is pointless to get bombs in dodongos (even as adult) unless you have a plethora of bomb tricks that save time (over 2 minutes worth) that can't be done w/ bombchu alone. I mean, megajump and groundjumps in forest temple are huge, but what else? Chances are you need 3-4 minutes of total timesavers from bombs before it is worth getting them... not to forget the extra transit time to dodongos cavern from graveyard... technically since you don't get din's fire nor FW you could put off getting magic till you are and adult. Then you could stop by on the way to get magic which seems to work nicely however... but you don't get kaepora to fly you back to kakariko so you still lose a little time unless you did shadow and then did dodongo's and then did magic and then used a saewarp to the temple of time... mainly however, you need to add a few more time savers w/ groundboost before it becomes an effective tactic to get bombs too.

I messed a bit around and i found something.

If you can finish dodongo's cavern with only bombchus, you won't need the bomb bag! Go to the bombchu bowling alley and win the big bomb bag. Sure, you can't use it as a child, but if you go forward in time, you'll have 30 bomb equiped on C-Stick down (or any empty button, i'm not sure). However, DO NOT have anything equipped at C-Down before going forward in time, and neither equip over unless you are replacing a slot with another, otherwise you won't have the bombs. If you replace the bombs you won't be able to get them back, so beware. You can also buy more bombs at the shops if needed.

Yeah kazzoie found this out some time ago, too. But I guess theres too much luck required for bombchu bowling...

Maybe use one segment just for bombchu bowling, and going forward in time, if we can make it fit. I'm sure it's faster than getting the bomb bag in dodongo.
