this might change the TAS, someone should tell them about it. Since the order of things/items we have are liable to change. Who will be guano bowls bringer of bad/good news?

I already did. We just need to show them a video. Wink

If you guys can figure out how to skip freaking Mido as an adult, getting the Silver Gauntlets wins decisively.

EDIT - Mido is most definitely a texture. After some testing, I've found that the Lost Woods are loaded one callout at a time.

Goron City  Mido/Callout 5
.....|...................|
Callout 3 --> Callout 4 --> Zora's River

Meaning that if you find a nonstandard way to enter Callout 4 from Callout 3, he won't load and you can continue on to Callout 5. In fact, even the water doesn't load, and you can simply fall into the pit and warp to Zora's River without diving.

There's a rock in Callout 3, but you can't seem to stand on top of it. The stone wall marking the warp to Goron City is a decoration and Link cannot stand on top of it. The only possibility left is finding a place to wallslash, but there are no acute angles. Any ideas? Grin

idea: bottle adventure + 3 deku nuts on c-right = fairy bow on B. can you do that + get light arrow and be able to use them? Or do you literally need to get the quiver? Because you 'd have bow and also have arrow. Secondly, it also says that item on B can get written to locations on menu so maybe we can transfer it to menu like we'd normally have it and then be able to play a shooting game and get a quiver upgrade? Idk your thoughts? If so then that would skip forest temple. WAIT. nm we'd have to go back in time to do that which requires forest getting beaten anyways... Actuallyy... when you learn the orelude of light from shiek... is she still at the master sword? Or do we get the 1 free trip back in time? Because then maybe it's possible.
You need the Forest Medallion to go back in time.  :-/

even when zelda is taken by gannondorf? She is still in the next room over? In that very same moment (not after reentering)? We'd only need 1 trip back in time, and it would come after the need for sword i think so you'd hit w/ arrow, then reequip sword in menu and then rock ganondorf in 1 round.
Good question. I don't think so, but I'll have to test it out on Project64 to say with certainty.

I know that if you have the Shadow/Spirit Medallions when you become an adult for the first time, after the dialogue with Rauru you'll jump directly to the Light Arrows one and skip the one about getting the Hookshot.

Also, I believe AKA said the quiver's needed for your proposal to work. It'd be like getting bombs without a bomb bag, and you can't use them. But I'm not quite sure.

here's something you might not know... when you have a ground jump stored.... you skip textboxes that are triggered off floors etc. Like in forest in twisted corridor.

anyways, now that we get bombs we also save time in forest w/ block puzzle and also w/ megajump to that blockpull room.

What about saving inside the Deku Tree? You wont have to worry about messing up if you get the rupee collecting perfect. I think it's a good idea.

Edit: Nevermind, I checked your route.

You get 3 red rupees when you kill the Anubis in child Spirit, that should cover everything...

Errr, you don't restart in ToT if you save there as a kid, you restart in Kokiri Forest.

You can't get the bombchus from the well as an adult.

You should save before you do the glitch and do it in the start of the next segment, otherwise you'll have to do it twice for no reason. :X

Other than that, your route looks good. Wink

I made the adjustments.  It should be good now.  So what's this thing Kazooie found out?

Kazooie found a way to skip the Silver Gauntlets with some help from Acryte. Hang on, I'll make a video.

Edit: Video done

you guy's are crazy haha!

Now that I think about it, is it possible to do the Adult skip in Gerudo Fortress without the longshot. It would save all that Early child Spirit stuff.
Retired
That requires bombs.  So the trade off is doing Dodongo's Cavern to completion, but now we don't have to complete the Spirit Temple as Young Link after we get the Requiem of Spirit?

Somebody needs to crunch the numbers and determine which saves more time:

1) Getting bombs, skipping Spirit Temple as Young Link
2) Skip bombs, skip most of Dodongo's Cavern

Having the bombs could also open up other tricks with the manual bomb jump.  Segments 1-3 on my route will be unaffected...

Unless...

Do you guys think it is just safer to do Hyrule Castle after Deku Tree to avoid a night/day issue?

You don't need longshot, you can do it with hover.

Ok I've now decided to skip ever entering Gerudo or Desert area as a child and for that matter FW, instead I'll use the hover boost across the bridge and hover onto the rock structure. I'll still have to test this out, I can't remember, but how long all that Gerudo Desert stuff took in my run + getting FW.
No freaking way.

Skipping the Silver Gauntlets will save no more than five minutes, if any at all.

I don't want to sound discouraging, but I'd say that 2h 30m is a bit of a stretch for even the TAS.
Is there a way you can get atop the statue in Spirit for the SG skip without needing to ground jump? Argh.

she's still there as sheik even after getting the light arrows. i just noticed it in my MQ run where i skipped the first 3 medallions.
If you can do the gerudo skip as an adult and therefore avoid going to the spirit temple as a child, would that mean that you could also skip the requiem of spirit?
He's back!
Yes, avoiding the requiem would be useful as it lasts for roughly 1:30, check my vid if you want to be exact timing of the requiem scene.

Can someone provide accurate estimates as to how long each of these take?

Requiem of Spirit - Exactly 1'40"
Spirit Temple, Entrance to Bombchus - 3'30" +/- 2"
Spirit Temple, Entrance to gaining control after SG - 7'30" +/- 2"
These times are taken from the TAS.

Dodongo's Cavern - Light eyes with Bombchu - ?
Dodongo's Cavern - Get bomb bag + Light eyes - ?
Getting bombchus from Bottom of the Well - ?

Getting to Haunted Wasteland from Gerudo Valley as an adult - ?

Getting Golden Scale - ?
Getting Silver Scale (best possible conditions) - ?

Getting Goron's Bracelet - About 1'30"

I got a pretty good Segment 2.  I would say missed slashes in bushes and Deku Baba's prevented it from being around 2:07. But under 2:04...heh...TAS wins this round.

I'll upload it in a bit.

mwl: 2006-06-03 04:45:42 am
The TAS isn't perfect: he could have saved time by using backflips instead of climbing the fence to get the six rupees in midair. So I'd say that 2'02" is optimal.

Heh.  Perhaps on another segment I can take it down Wink
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
stressing over <5 seconds now, are we?

Of course.  This is segmented.  I'll probably try all tomorrow on Segment 2 to improve it when I get your feedback on it.  Probably take it down to 2:06-2:07.  Give that damn TAS a run for its money.
