I dug up some old digs demos I made back when we decided to release the pack together with runs done by the staff.
I tried running most maps to see roughly how fast they could be, here are some of those (the rest were lost).

d3: http://hem.bredband.net/b211256/demos/d3_012.dz
It could probably be done even faster, 11 or so.

d4: http://hem.bredband.net/b211256/demos/d4_011.dz and http://hem.bredband.net/b211256/demos/d4_010.dz
see, I originally got 0:11 with a standard route you can see in the demo. I managed to squeeze it down to 0:11.2 or so, but I never made it below 11. I think it could be done, but it's very hard (for me at least). So I tried another route, and yay: 0:10. Took some work. Then dex used that route for the release and got 0:11, which makes little sense really since you take more damage. But then again, none of the demos in the release were optimized, and the 0:10 route is so much cooler.

Hell is where the heart is.
Fairly sure I remember seeing these when you first did them.

If my memory isn't failing me you pretty much owned everyone on every level with your rough attempts but weren't used because we wanted a demo from everyone in the release. Even me!

Just looked it up. Digs Done Staff.  :-)

I did my demo in an hour. Roll Eyes Strangely enough that one was recorded while I had 'vanished from SDA' so its inclusion into the pack at all was surprising to a few people. Not least of whom was me.
I always liked that we included demos from every staffer (almost - stubby...), and I love how it's easy (for me at least) to see who did what demo just by looking at the style Smiley

and yes, you would've seen them before, I sent them out to the sda mail, but I figured the other runners haven't seen them.

anyway, nice to hear from you guys, it's been a while.

It's been a quiet while, I'll say that. As ever, people are 'moving on' and as the scene isn't attracting (many) new runners...

Having said that, Nahkahiir and I still semi-regularly record random coops.
Hey Ho Let's Go
I just watched the demos. Man, they're good! It would be so annoyingly easy for you to crank out a few kickass demos in no time. It's a shame you stick to your guns about not wanting to do demos ever again :-/
heh thanks man :-)
but believe me, I've lost it. I tried playing a bit when I was having fun with the e3m7 route, and I sucked. If I could just sit down and get a record in an hour I just might do it - but I realise it will take hours and hours to get back into shape. and I'm not spending hours Smiley
That said, I still enjoy watching the demos you guys make!

The 10s demo impressed the pants off me back then but I think I already told you when it was made  Grin
heh, I remember being schooled by Nahk on the route on d7, I was completely off the mark and he showed me the proper route. and then your demo came, mandel...I was blown away.
to be very honest..

I think this was the most horrible release ever. pompous and elite..

but, you may do as you will..

beeing all "sda = cool"... fine with me.

cheers (after 6 beers)

rutger
lol, that was seriously not how it was meant.
it was just a fun thing to include, like a miniproject. it's not an official release in any way or a proper run.
as for sda=cool, that is just too silly. we're speedrunners, the nerdiest of the nerdiest. how can it be cool?
I see it as an expression of eliteness, why not include others, this could have been a perfect qdq release or official bladiebla.. this is not the first time....

cheers after 7 beers..:)

rutger
oh, I didn't realise people could possible take it that way. hmm.
anyway, it's obviously not a proper release - in fact, why don't you start one? you can be the project manager for a proper run through the episode. I'd love to see it!

next time, pass me a beer too Smiley

on nightmare:

d1 - 0:08
d2 - 0:29 (28?)
d3 - ~0:25 (Double grenadejump off the nights)
--- I just did a 25, getting the grenades from the ogre, can be 24 or 23.
d4 - 0:16 ?
d5 - 0:28 ?
d6 - 0:20 ?? (faster probably)
d7 - 0:12 ?
Hell is where the heart is.
Rutger, go have more beers.  Any ER that contain one of my demos is obviously not meant to be taken seriously. They're really just playdemo demos that we made for the release of the mission. To think otherwise just proves you haven't drunk enough yet.  :-)

Not sure about pompous, but yes, we are elitest. Of course we are. It's impossible not to be when you're one of the elite. When you're so much better than the common herd it would be patronising to try to treat them as equals. And we're never patronising.
Hey Ho Let's Go
Morfans: It's been a while we've seen some of those elite demos of yours. Isn't it about time you started running again? :-) Oblivion NH is a good choice...

Yes, mister Morfans sure needs to go back to the demo-making elite! Wink

The project was just a fun thing we decided to include, you're looking too much into it Rutger. Not enough beer yet Wink

Right, it was a cool idea, and people seemed to enjoy it, so...
