Wait, why would NG+ have a bone s?  The only point where you're forced to pick one up is the tutorial in the mini-garden, which gets skipped.
boss
You automatically get one after you defeat the foxes IIRC.
Yep yep yep!
Oh yeah, now that you mention it, I'm pretty sure one does appear, but you don't need to pick it up.
boss
It appears in your inventory straight away (IIRC you get one during the following cutscene, even if you skip it).

Okay, I honestly do not remember that at all.  Are you sure?  Not that it's really a big deal anyway.
Yeah I don't remember there being a Holy Bone either, I looked up the cutscene on YouTube the other day and didn't see one. But I'm not that familiar with the game yet, so.

Ok, so I might possibly be doing a NG+ run of Okami for AGDQ13. Most of the tricks I'm fairly comfortable doing live; there's just two that I'm not, the Tsuta Ruins skip and AoY early. The TR skip has an annoying but simple solution, I'd just have to do most of the dungeon normally. But the latter's giving me a huge problem, since the only alternative to entering the ark early is doing Wawku Shrine. Problem: I don't have Inferno or Mist.

Is it possible to beat Wawku Shrine without Inferno? As far as I can tell you need it to melt the switch on the machine that you get Blizzard from, plus in various other places throughout the dungeon. I also have no idea how to get past the golden cannon without Mist. Blah.
Yep yep yep!
Oogh, yeah, I wasn't even thinking about that.  Just how precise do you have to be for AoY early, anyway?  Maybe you could figure out a slower-but-more consistent way to pull it off, like positioning yourself directly below the load point and KTing straight up?

Also, with liberal KTing, maybe Wawku without blizzard could be done as well?  All the places I can think of where it's needed could be KTed past instead.

Yeah, you can do that like I did in my video, but then you still have to do 6 consecutive KTs. Anyway, I managed to get a bit further in Wawku (just finished the first boss fight) and this is shaping up to be pretty ridiculous so far, in a good way. Hopefully I can pull  it off. [edit: I'm stuck at the golden cannon now. I have no idea how to get past this thing without mist.]

edit 2: 10x KT glitch? That sounds bad. >.>

OT, just thought I'd post this here. Okami is being rereleased in HD for the PS3 this fall.

Okay I know this is a planning thread, but since this is being re-released should I finally consider playing it if this version is any good?
Yep yep yep!
@facetouch: YESSSS!!!

Back on topic, what's this about a 10X KT glitch?  And while, as I mentioned in the games topic, I've never actually done the KT glitch, I'd imagine it would be easier to just keep KTing until you made it to the Ark, instead of the multiple KTs necessary for Wawku.

On a semi-related note, I wonder about using a vengeance slip in Wawku.  They do work out of battle, right?

If they aren't consecutive, Wawku will be easier. I can handle doing the KT glitch once or even twice in a row, but more than that doesn't feel feasible for a live run, and I don't want to spend half an hour trying to pull off one trick at a marathon. Anyway, 10x KT glitch comes from one of groobo's posts on page 6. He mentions having a way past the golden cannon but doesn't say anything about how it's done.

edit: The only thing standing between me and a time below two hours is the golden canon at Wawku Shrine. Anyone has an idea how to destroy it w/o mist?? (slowdown) I've checked the whole mountain and it's solid everywhere so I can't glitch straight to the next room.

Actually I've already figured out how to get pass the canon.  Tongue

Segment 20:
Lechku and Nechku early. (the new way, 10x KT glitch ftw)

I found that there's no backside on the mountain, so if you go around it you can get inside it and then get back inside the level. But that would be ridiculous and I think it would take far more than 10 KTs so hopefully his method is something else. Right now I'm trying to see if there's a way to clip through using the flower in the next room. I've found a spot where I can attach Ammy to it but it doesn't clip me through the wall or anything.

Vengeance Slip doesn't work.

It's annoying because if I go behind one of the cannons I can get Ammy to clip like 90% through the wall (that's how I got the camera through the wall) but because I can't get that last 10%, I can't clip through it completely. I hate collision detection in games nowadays. It's too good.
Yep yep yep!
Ah, okay.  Wish I could help experiment, but I'm really busy ATM, don't have a save file near Wawku, and as mentioned can't KT glitch.

Worst comes to worst, you could always detour to get Veil of Mist; I'm 90% positive you can leave the imperial garden before completing it.
boss
You can still skip a large chunk of TR by kting, I think, twice in the first room after the main area.

You don't need inferno to complete wawku since you don't need to get blizzard.

I got into the mountain by slope climbing and then kting a ridiculous amount of times through the non-solid back. Mist IS required to complete wawku, though - Oki won't talk to you until you defeat the golden cannon. I wrote that route after entering the mountain from the back for the first time and thought that it's just a temporary glitch that I can't interact with Oki.

AoY early is the way to go. Try pause buffering while kting - works like a charm in ss runs.

Ok, I didn't try to talk to Oki. That seriously sucks. Wawku was shaping up to be so awesome too. :/

edit: Wow, Oki isn't even there. That sucks. Wish I'd noticed earlier tho.

edit 2: I get the feeling that pause buffering thing prolly works better on PS2. :/
boss
Dunno what's your method for pause buffering. On the PS2 I didn't mash the start button - while mashing dash, I just hit it once the menu unfreezed after using a kt.

Yeah, I figured it was something like that. I can actually probably get it down a bit easier with practice. I just hope I can get it to the point where I can consistently get to AoY early within a couple minutes. If I can't, then I guess I have the option of doing all the Sei-an City BS to get Mist, but at that point I'd be leaning more towards "Okami NG+ on Wii is not a good marathon choice". I mean, yeah, I could probably attempt AoY early for half an hour and get it faster than it would take to do all that extra stuff; but it's a marathon so I need to think about entertainment value too. Admittedly, it would be entertaining to do the extra stuff, but with that much of it there wouldn't really be much getting around that it's just not a good run if it uses a route like that.

Also, I'm wondering about Okami HD. Think maybe it won't have a delay after switching Karmic Transformers? I'll probably buy it when it comes out. Hopefully they aren't gonna fix anything. Tongue

I think it's pretty insane you can do all of this on the wii version lol. I've tried for a few hours to mess with KT glitch on the wii but I only got it like 10-15 times which is pretty measly. I'm getting the ps2 version in the near future so I think I'm going to dabble in trying a NG+ run SS.

Edit: I found that you can get to the 2nd floor in Tsuta Ruins with only 3 KT's if you go on a vine that is near the save. It basically is as high as 1 kt and you can stand on the top of it.
First off, I apologize if this has already been discovered. I just picked up this game, so I'm far from up to date.
Anyway, I found that if you sprint at the exit to Agata Forest at a certain angle, triggering an Issun cutscene, the game will slide you right down to room with the tree you need to bloom, due to the way cutscenes stop Ammy during her sprint. The problem is that Issun also forces you to choose to be teleported back to the entrance, or out to Shinshu Field, making the glitch currently useless. If someone can find a way to negate the dialogue option, this would probably save around 10 seconds, which is nice for such an easy glitch. I could also see this being useful in other areas, particularly ones where Issun does not give you a dialogue option after his cutscene. I'll be experimenting with this and I'll post anything I find here. Hopefully this doesn't end up being useless. I took a quick video just for sake of clarity. Excuse the abysmal webcam quality.

Yep yep yep!
Interesting, and definitely worth looking into.  Though just off the top of my head, I don't see how useful it could be...  Definitely worth experimenting with.
boss
Interesting.

First of all, we would have to find out what exactly causes this glitch and what are its limitations. Hypothetically it can be performed on any static cutscene (as in cutscenes where ammy doesn't move anywhere - weather the camera or some other instance gets moved is irrelevant). I honestly doubt it has anything to do with the angle at which you approach the cutscene trigger. Can you perform the glitch on the left side of the tunnel? Does it work when you don't hug the wall at the moment of contact?
On another note, Kotaku has a video of Okami HD from SDCC:

http://kotaku.com/5925673/okami-hd-will-be-one-of-the-most-beautiful-things-you-can-do-with-your-tv

From the looks of it, there's no cutscene skipping (or at least not in NG).
Yep yep yep!
My favorite part of that was how they said blooming Shinshu is "an hour or two into the game."  Too bad on the lack of cutscene skipping.

Found two interesting videos on yt while browsing randomly:

Also people have reported strange shit rarely going on during the cone head state glitch. Ammy randomly falling through floors, walking through walls, or getting teleported to completely random locations after talking to a npc. You can even find some videos of those also on yt.
