yeah I forgot to mention that you will need a inkfinity stone.

use the same method in mooncave to skip bombing the wall, which means that you can skip the ball roling room. Still I'm not sure that it will save much time.

also I got oob in city check point, but at the wrong side

Edit: Btw how do you reach the trigger to wawku shrine, couse when i'm oob the trigger is to far up.

Edit2: I just found another way to trigger wawku shrine early, stand on tsukle's house close to the gate and vine the blossom. now cut this vine fast so you don't lose any hight then vine it again, and when you reach maximum hight cut the vine and dj over the wall. It can be hard to pull of but you'll get it I'm sure.

boss
So you can vine climb with only one blossom? Awesome.

edit: It appears that wawku early is the only spot this is useful (moon cave aside). I wonder though if we could bring it even further and get into aoy early. I guess all the blossoms are too far away for you to get to the trigger.

It takes some time to climb couse you will fall down a bit every time you cut the vine, but you will gain more then you lose. The trick is to cut the vine immediately after you vine yourself.

I tried to reach aoy but it's seems to be impossible.
Yep yep yep!
Sorry about the long time with no word.  I know how frustrating that can be.

I was dealing with some real-life stuff the past few weeks that took up most of my time and all my drive to work on a speedrun.  It's better now, though, so I'm going to get started again.

Now that we can do Wawku early in NG, there's obviously going to be some major route adjustments needed, so I'm going to start the current test run over.  This time, though, I'll be sure to record each segment so you people can finally get your WIPs.  The only thing is I don't know where to post them with Filefront gone.  I'd rather not have to resort to Megaupload/Rapidshare, so if anyone has any other suggestions, please give them.

Thanks, and sorry again about just dropping off the face of the Internet like that.

You could try mediafire or filedropper.

Recover is also offering hosting: http://speeddemosarchive.com/forum/index.php/topic,9996.0.html
I'm glad your back, for a moment there I thought this run was dead but I havent stop playing okami. I havent found anything really useful but I might be on to something, I was really close to cross the river and get taka pass early.

I'm very curious way the game let you walljump in mid-air when you do the vine glitch. It would be awsome if we could walljump anywere.

I'm sorry if I'm asking the wrong person, but I feel kind of guilty being the first post in this thread and being very irrelevent to any current Okami speedruns being produced. Is there like, a certain thread title you'd like for this thread other than "Okami (PS2)"? I'll edit it to whatever you'd want given y'all have been putting up with that even though I'll assume everyone's been messing with the Wii port as well.

Or I could just give BlueGlass the first post so he can post strats and change the title himself.

Please do that. I've felt terrible about the thread title misrepresenting whatever is going on in the world of Okami speedruns for the 2-3 years. Sad
Yep yep yep!
Okay, I guess I wasn't quite as not-busy as I had thought.  I will return to Okami soon, but not right now, as my mom is having a double knee replacement surgery on Monday.  But having the first post sounds like a good idea, so that anyone looking for progress updates and whatnot won't have to go searching through the topic.

yeah that way we could get more people interested to this speedrun.

I was really close to cross the bridge without raise it in sei-in city, I placed a lillypad next to the left pillar close to waka then I dj and dash the bridge in a direction so that I almost land on the bridge. I think it's possible cuse I land on the railling but I wasen't fast enough to press A. I haven't tested this much but you shuold try it BlueGlass.

Edit: well I played around with it some more and it is posible but hard:). This will save some money and we won't need to fish but we need to to this trick two times, and as I said before this trick is not easy.
Yep yep yep!
Awesome.  So we skip buying blinding snow and the sei-an fishing.  If the trick is as hard as you say, though, it might need some extra segmentation to pull off properly.  At the same time, yen route will need to be adjusted for being short ten thousand.
I was able to get on the bridge from both side but I find it easier on the left side for some reason.
Btw how does the new route look like, I guess it's pretty much the same up to moon cave.

Hello, I've been a lurker here for a while and I'd like to say best of luck on the run Smiley Also, I think I've found a timesaver in Wawku Shrine for a NG run. It hasn't been mentioned in this thread (that I've noticed) and it wasn't in groobo's archive run, so apologies if it's know already:

In the room with the spinning flame wheels, you can draw a snowflake on one of the wheels to freeze it. The frozen wheel can then be used as an ice source to freeze the rest of the wheels. This skips having to melt and roll the ball of ice from the previous room
boss
I did this in one of my uploaded runs, I can't remember if it was the super outdated NG+ or the, also super outdated, NG run.
Yep yep yep!
It was the NG+

Also, that's already part of my route for Wawku, but thanks for listing it anyway.
Does anyone know how to do headless ammy glitch, It might be usefull for something cuse some wierd things happened when I was playing headless.

In the beginning of the game after you learn to draw a sun there will be fight with three green imps. After I killed them I was headless, I continued to play and when I grab the sake for susano in Kushi's house I somehow got warp to another house.

We should look in to this cuse It might lead to something usefull.

What's stopping us from skipping lilly pad, cuse we can enter agata w/o it and we don't need them for water dragon either, does it have something to do with entering moon cave?
boss
How can you enter af without lilypad or the kt glitch?
If you follow the wall on the left side there is a small place that let's you jump out of the water, almost at the corner
boss
I knew you could corner glitch out of the water somewhere in the tunnel, but I thought you can't wall jump there and the swimming timer doesn't reset when you come out of the water like that, so I automatically thought you can't make it to the other side. Anyway, we can skip lilypad now.
ooh I thought this was known for some time, well the sad thing about it is that the bridge trick in sei-an won't work now.

Yep yep yep!
So then we'll have to compare the time difference between skipping lillypad and skipping sei-an fishing.  Wait, scratch that; skipping lillypad means skipping the whole return to Kamiki, definitely faster.

That leaves the problem of where to move the end of segment 1.  On the way out of Hana Valley, maybe?  And just so we're clear, I do still intend to do this run.
boss
I'd say when you get to/on your way out of hana, because of the crystal ball.
I think we shuold end it after we bloom the sapling in shinshu field or we end it when we reach Hana and end segment 2 in shinshu field
