Runnerguy got 1:11 RTA(Real Time Attack) This is Single Segment. In RTA you skip hover boots, bombchus, and you can savewarp everywhere which saves some massive time. Single Segment obviously can't savewarp so yuo have to get hover boots to get past the Door of Time as adult. To get hover boots you must get bombchus to get over the first gap.
Oh yeah I forgot he reset at times to warp to save points. I'm sure it will be a great run, are you going to post up a link so people like me can see it? Or were you just planning on letting some select Zelda players see it? (Would be cool if you could post at least a temporary link)
I also have to give my congrats to you on the run, pokey (This is BlueStarReturns on the ZSR forums, by the way)! I watched it on Swordless' Youtube and was blown away at how well it turned out. Plus I was able to understand everything that was going on the whole time, so it shows that I've gotten better at understanding the concept of RBA.
Congrats again on an awesome run and can't wait to see it be added to SDA!
Um, that is just a theory. It is just to show if you warp somewhere by somehow modifying grottos, you could then savewarp. Furthermore, we need Light Arrows anyways if we were doing that method, since the closest savewarp to the end of the game is still before Gdorf.
You can't just restart everytime a new trick is found! That way, the speedrun will never finish! Better to finish what he already has and submit it IMO.
i think him taking too long is what put him in that situation.
but well, new tricks guarantee that the run is easily beatable by someone with comparable skill and he probably doesn't want to submit a run that could get rejected on verification.
Oops. Then the system would be working backwards. It's supposed to make sure it's good quality, but they're going to reject a perfectly good run (albeit delayed) or even put fear into the runner, then the system is working backwards IMO. That needs to be fixed... I really think continuous examination, probably by the same verifiers all the time, would be a good idea. In order to ensure that the run is good quality all the way through and not fail at the end.

^ This. This is why I stopped doing segmented runs. ^_^

It wasn't just because 1 trick was found, LOTS of tricks have been found. He took too much time between segments and his run became outdated.

Hrm, what would be different about an SS as opposed to Segmented? It's still verified at the end...
I would say there's a huge difference, especially for the run in question (the 100%). A single-segment would require a shift in the route taking out the savewarps. Plus a lot of the tricks are just too time-consuming if you don't have the segmentation where you can practice it. You can't be attempting tricks over and over and some tricks are crucial to get first or second try. Otherwise, it's an immediate restart. DoT Skip and Adult DoT Skip with Hover Boots are only two of these tricks that come to mind. It's too demanding for an SS.
My point is that 100% is more optimized with a segmented run than a SS.
