Quote from Runnerguy2489:
For those who haven't seen in the irc yet, I got segment 3 done today:

Segment 1
Segment 2
Segment 3

Great news, I estimated that it would take about 8 minutes to do this segment, and my time for it was 7:38.7, which means on top of the 10 second time saver I posted about on the last page, I'm now even 20+ more seconds ahead!

Segment 4 will probably come soon. I'd actually be shocked if I didn't get it done tomorrow. Then, I'm going to post my adult route as it stands right now. I'm going to then test all my weakest bomb uses and see if 15 with a combined segment 7 and 8 will be better than 20 with 7 and 8 split.

I am SO happy to see this. Great segments!  Grin

Thought I might post the Single Segment route and see if there is any improvements to i t tha can be made.

So it is a hard run. If you see any improvements that can be made please tell me
At first please use a Spoiler next time. ^^

In Death Mountain Trail you can use a Superslide instead of backwalk to the rocks.
Supersliding trough lost woods would also save some time.

If you use this 2 Superslides, then you should have 5 bombs left, if you don't get some on the first bomb.

The rest of the route looks pretty good.
Speedrunner
The thing with death mountain trail is that if you superslide you can easily get hit by a rock.

Superslide in lost woods? that makes no sense

I highly doudt that I will get every superslide and pressure jump I do. So I have extra bombs

In death mountain trail I could superslide to the climbable wall.
Oh I have forgotten about the rocks at death mountain trail, but supersliding to the climbable wall sounds good.

Runnerguy2489 uses superslide in lost woods, so I thought, that it will be a good idea for your run too.

Supersliding through the lost woods only saves significant time if you are going to or from the Forest Temple or Zora's Domain warp.

Unless you are really lucky with bomb drops, it would be quicker to get ten bombs instead, leave out the pressure jump (it saves very little time since you don't have the hookshot, and would probably be slower than going the long way if you stuff it up), which leaves you with 8 bombs to do 5 superslides, which should be enough. If you are at risk of running out of bombs I wouldn't mind if you skip the superslide to Gerudo Valley.

You might be able to pay less for the Hylian Shield by exiting the Bazaar quickly (you can when you get the discount, not sure when you don't get the discount). Also, you can get the 10 rupees in Mido's house and the two rupees near the platforms (which can be collected twice) in your rupee route, so you could easily have 99 rupees when you buy the shield. I think this, plus chopping some grass for a couple of extra rupees if necessary, would be quicker than duplicating a bottle and selling a bug.

the hookshot saves time for the long and short way through the forest, it actually saves more time on the long way  Tongue
so pokey, use the pressure jump

getting 15 is important. it allows him to mess up. and doing a superslide to gerudo valley saves way more time than skipping one bomb drop saves Wink

collecting the 5 rupees twice and going into midos house costs way more time than selling the bug. the guy, you sell the bug to, is directly on the way to the bazarr, so I can't see any way not to sell the bug to be quicker Wink

I don't get, what you mean with the "buy hylian shield with less rupees". if you refer to the "walk while buying" glitch, then I can say, that it is not possible to get the hylian shield with less rupees.
if you leave the shop with the walk while buying trick after you pressed "buy shield", you won't get the shield. you get the shield only, if you are in a special zone in the shop 1 second after you press "buy shield" and then you have to pay the rupees.
I'm not your buddy, guay!
How does this whole bomb thing work? You overwrite the slot with the bombs with a bottle and that lets them be dropped again? Even if that works, how do you use the bombs if you now have a bottle on that slot instead?

He overwrite the bomb slot with a bottle, but he still has the bomb, which he has equipped before he duped a bottle, on the C-Button.

You also need to rba cojiro for the bomb bag for bombs to be dropped so that wont work.

What if it takes two minutes to get a bomb drop, like I did?  Tongue

He isn't on the way to the Bazaar when he sells the bug in this route, so it requires a small detour, plus the time it takes to duplicate the bottle. Though I guess going to Mido's house takes about the same amount of time. Getting those four extra rupees takes about one second though.

I tested it, and you do always pay 80 rupees when you don't have the discount, so it won't work. When you do have the discount, though, the price you pay varies between 50 and 75 rupees, and it seems to me that how much you pay depends on how quickly you leave the Bazaar. I'm probably wrong, though.  Tongue

make a vid about the shop thing, please, because I still don't get it

1st time adult, it always puts c-down as bombs even if you don't have them.

Then you move it from C-down to C-Right, by putting something on C-Right then switching it with the bombs

Then you RBA with it and get a bottle on the bomb slot, now you can get bomb drops, but you can't hold any of them because you need the bomb bag

then you RBA cojiro and you can hold and use the bombs. During this whole time, you need to keep that bomb icon on a C-button because if you ever overwrite it, you will never be able to re-equip it or use the bombs

Hey ZFG.
Pokey wrote in his route, that he'll RBA cojiro, so it works without any problem.

Ya but its best to rba bombs and cojiro at the same time instead if duping over it earlier.

Still not done but now we have the real domain name and real home page.

Forums are also up now.  In the future it would probably be better to have speedrun discussion go there instead of here like m2k2 but we can still use this for a while.

Fast and easy Dodongo's Cavern Ground Jump
I'm confused.  For OoT 100%, wouldn't it be easier just to give 100% as "Any items that would disappear if the song of time was used" + skulutas (if skulutas would disappear).  Everything that doesn't disappear are weapons, clothing, boots, all items, songs, hearts, upgrades (magic meter, white outline to hearts), medallions, and din's fire and such (weapons yeah, but just was including it).  That way, anything that is a midquest item would have disappeared (like in MM), but anything after that quest was completed was added to your inventory, it would stay.  The only exception I could see occurring would of course be skulutas, but I think it's a define yes to say that skulutas are need for 100%.

Coming from the low%/100% definition thread, which said to discuss here.

you certainly are confused; literally nothing happens when you play the song of time.  Roll Eyes

I don't really get you. Why should we create the 100% section like everything would disappear?
100% means, that we collect and do everything in the game, but it doesn't mean, that we are opening every chest or visiting every room, which doesn't change your inventory or your upgrades. Skulutas change your inventory, so they are needed for 100% run. And btw you have to collect at least 50 Skulutas or you won't get the heart piece or the wallets.

And btw what inventory items in OoT do you think would disappear, if using the song of time would be possible?
Speedrunner
Lemme guess, you wanna do a run Time?
There's a new silver block skip in town for whoever doesn't know. Found by Acryte and myself. Jiano and I tried last night to get behind the pillar with a chu megaflip but it's impossible even with tool assistance. If we can get behind the pillar with a chu, this'll really be useful in the low% run.
Hey.. can guys help me out?  Cry  I can't seem to perfect a rupee route all in one go  Angry
This is what I got so far...
(This is a three part rupee route, I did NOT do this in consistancy:-[ but I'm aiming too  :D)
a few mistakes but meh..

Feedback would be appreciated  Undecided
Hey Runnerguy (and everyone else interested in the route), couldn't you blow up a beamos in Ganon's castle for 5 bombs? So you can save some bombs for elsewhere? The beamos drop bombs pretty much everytime time.
He's back!
You need to use a bomb on a beamos in order to get it to drop a bomb so you technically only get 4 bombs :p
