short intermediate question (i'm currently writing an article about speedrunning): what is the normal gamer's way of dealing with the web on the bottom of the deku tree instead of jumpslashing it? burning it? how much of the deku tree is skipped? (don't want to be inaccurate)
Small question, but with the new confirmation that BA is allowed in a low%, could the route be changed to do the Ganon Early/Light Arrows on B route? It would save 2 medallions and I guess a few items from temples we'd need like the hookshot if thats not skipped already. Plus I'm sure it's a way easier route.

The only way to Door of Time skip as adult involves BAing a bomb during the light arrow cutscene. Until a DoT skip that doesn't involve the light arrow cutscene is found, we'd need to get the three stones, Song of Time, Ocarina of Time, boomerang, and deku nuts. It isn't worth it.

the first web on floor 1 is always broken by jumping down on it.
speedrunners may do 2nd web one of three ways
1. wallskulltula vine clip to fall into out of bounds water them swim into basement 2. 2. hover off of gold skulltula to reach the block ledge early 3. megasidehop off deku baba on F1 (after web is burnt) and land on block ledge early.
the way you're intended to do it is go through all the rooms in the basement.
So, I've been practicing a lot and can do ISG, ground jump, SS, ESS, megaflip, steal rod, get bottle and other items to B, the trick to skip half shadow temple, as well as other dungeon tricks, and adult bomb hover. However, I very rarely can do bomb hover as a child. I've tried countless times, know exactly what I'm supposed to do, but just can't get the timing right. I can't believe how difficult this seems, and am amazed at how easily people can do it here. So let me get this straight to make absolutely sure I'm doing this right. I'm on GCN, I have slingshot on Z (c-down) bombchus on X (c-right). So, activate ISG, find a ledge, backwalk into ledge. Hold L, down on analog stick, Z. Then press A, and while in mid-air, quickly release Z, press X and then R. Is this right? Because nearly every time I press X then R I get hit by the bomb. The control feels incredibly awkward, and no matter how much I try, I haven't gotten anywhere with it. This is the only trick so far I've had major problems with. And of course it is one of the most important tricks to get right...
edit: I even have swordlesslink's "how to perform the bombchu hover in oot" video in my youtube favorites. Even that doesn't help. I guess I just got to keep practicing...although after several hours of attempts I haven't gotten any better at hovering whatsoever.
most important thing: understand, what the reason is for what you have to do
the slingshot is used to cancel the backflip, so link is close enough to the explodsion. when you shoot with the bow, slingshot or hookshot while backflipping, the backflip is cancelled.
so do it like this: walk towards a ledge, pull out slingshot and keep holding the button to be ready to shoot a seed. then you backflip and AFTER let go of the slingshot button. Now immediately press the button for chu and hold R
Yes! I got 4 chus off before falling, which is great by my standards lol. I had to look at my controller while I was doing it though. I think I was doing 2 things wrong before. I would press X (release bombchu) and R simoultaneously instead of X then quickly R. Or I would press X and wait a split second too long before pressing R. The timing is horrific, but I'm slowly getting there. Time to practice some more then attempt forest escape with deku scrub projectiles. Also, 2 things...probably old sorry.
1. Forest escape is not possible with jump slash ESS glitch? 2. This is useless, but is it possible to do the walking while talking glitch to get past Mido and get to Deku Tree early?
Updated slightly with some new tricks, corrections, and optimizations. Posted here, simply because it is the only place that has interest in this division, even if it isn't an official category. Also, with the new ruling, this is no longer the "no BA/RBA" route, this is the normal route for low% MST.

That's interesting, I have always released the slingshot seed before doing the backflip. I know it's that way because my thumb presses C-down also presses A, and to get to the A button it has to release the seed first. It works for me because my C-down and A button are so close on the N64. Then that same thumb goes and hits C-right and my right index hits R. All of that done really fast of course.
I tried backflipping first, then releasing the seed, then pulling out the chu and shielding, and the first thing that happened was getting hit by the chu, just like you said. It is possible to hover both ways though. The way I do it if I fail it's not from the chu exploding on me it's just from the explosion happening and me just completing my backflip (I'd assume pulling the chu out and shielding it too late after the slingshot has been fired).

What is the objective of steps 1-4 if you don't get the bomb bag? I think you can just chu the eyes right from the bottom.

How do you megaflip that? Has someone done it without ISG? Or with ISG and chus yet?
I don't know much else about the low% but those two things jumped out at me.

For the first, somebody told me that chuing eyes took such precision that it was TAS only. Though I guess someone could do it. Would probably have to split that segment considering how hard it is to kill KD w/ chus.
For the second, I was assuming an ISG megaflip. Since somebody has done it with bombs, there should be no reason you couldn't do it with chus, it just takes more timing so it explodes in the right place.
Chuing the eyes isnt too hard. If its at the beginning of the segment it should definitely be done. I find it easier on the left side so you can follow the wall paterns.
So in the irc we've been talking about OoT hacks lately, mainy Zelda's Birthday. Not exactly OoT but its cool stuff. Me and grunz destroyed the game with some awesome SB's and now we have Zelda's Birthday in 3:17. Its already improvable because I found a 2nd stick skip but we want to TAS it next, the only problem is it crashes in mupen when loading certain areas. If someone can get it to work a TAS is expected to be sub 2:20.
