I'm not your buddy, guay!
Nice to hear you got the low% playthrough done, ZFG! I've got a few questions on your route:

Quote from ZFG:
seg 7

-blast wall(Chu 9)
-go to right(or left if you prefer)
-light eyes with chus(Chu 7)
-enter mouth
-go around
-switch in last room
-blast floor in boss room(Chu 6)
-use bombchus + jumpslashes to kill dodongo(Chu 0)
-goron ruby

Optional save here? It seems like a tough enough segment to beat King Dodongo and then have to go play a random game like the bombchu alley, and then go and have to do shadow early as a kid. It costs you maybe 15 seconds but I think you'd make that up just from having better optimization.

-Go to market
-win 10 chus at alley
-go back to DM

Same thing here...you pass right by the cavern so this one wouldn't cost that much time.

-blow up 2 rocks with bombchus
-enter GF fountain with chu for magic
-take keapora to kakariko
-go to graveyard
-Shadow early as kid (no explosives method faster?)
How would you even do it with explosives?
-save

seg  10

-go to gerudo valley
-damage boost over bridge (49 chu)
Is this a megajump? The one where you switch the hover boots on just as you get hit?
-enter fortress
-save

seg 13

-block skip again
-to main room
-use key
-kill anubis with fire and beamos with chu (46 chu)
-make armos stand on switch
-kill IK
-mirror shield
-back inside
-shine light on sun
-get key
-go to big wall room and climb wall (probably 45 chu)
-get boss key
-go to mirror room
-make snake mirror shine on big mirror
*get in position to shine light at the sun but wait.  Be in about the middle of the platform that will lower, then lure one of the flying pots next to the sun with a magic jar in it to attack you.  Shield it, and while the magic is still in the air shine the sun to lower the platform.  The magic jar should fall down to the platform.  Then destroy the colossuses face, and after the cutscene quickly activate ISG off of the magic jar* (must not have gotten a magic jar before this)
How hard is this? No chance of having Navi talking to you at this point? Or other objects at the top?
-hover to boss door (34 chu)
-IK and twinrova
-re enter temple
-save

I think that's all the questions I had. It certainly seems like an interesting run.

Like chaosv1 said, most people don't want BA used in low%, but I've actually done some calculating and the only way BA can lower the % is is ruto's letter can be gotten w/o dive from OoB (which I tried today, but couldn't get it due to horrible OoB camera.  I think TASers might have a better chance at it though).  Then you could get ruto's letter + cucco bottle and BA 1 arrow to skip bow, quiver and minuet (but only lowering the item amount to 17).

I'm fairly sure you can't collect Ruto's Letter or the OoT by simply colliding with it, you have to be in the diving animation. Slowly rising up from the OoB water into either won't work...

I think that's all the questions I had. It certainly seems like an interesting run.
Segment 7 - there was supposed to be an optional save there, I guess I just forgot to add it im

Market back to DM - while I was making this route I kept reminding myself that I can't get back in DC because of the boulder and completely forgot that I had more chus then.  I'll add that in

Shadow early no explosives - I think samhot made the video, it was supersliding off the grass with ISG so you would teleport above the grass and just backflip onto the ledge, though I'm having doubts it would be faster.

seg 10 - no, a mega jump will turn into a mega dive and you wont be able to grab the bridge.  Its basicly this except you have to be facing sideways and holding the bombchu in your hands.

Magic jar trick - It sounds hard and complicated but it only took me a few minutes to get the hang of it.  No theres nothing else at the top, but if there was, ISG goes away after destroying the face.  The only other way I could think of was jumping to the right hand, activating ISG off of the ZL image, hover back up to the platform then hover to the boss door which was extremely hard and not explosive friendly.

I'll go update the route again. Edit: updated.

Also when referring to low% how does BA (Bottle Adventure) work into the equation is it total # of items collect or # of items you finish with. If you transform an item does it count as both (I'm not that familiar with the glitch so I couldn't pick one out).

I'm not sure what the limit is but are OoB glitches banned from SDA? I'm no rule guy but I thought they were (to an extent).

It's time to use the HEALING TOUCH
The OoB rule was (rightly) lifted.

I think this is cool. Dunno if it's doable consistently on console though.

Merry Chrismas =)
I have a new route for segment 4 of the BA run.

In this route we collect 20 extra rupees and then we get the golden scale by fishing.
So here is the new child route:

Segment 1:

cutscence
save

Segment 2:

collecting rupees
sword
save

Segment 3:
collecting more rupees
shield
save

Segment 4:

1 rupee of vase in link's house
jumpslash onto bridge
5 rupees from bridge
2 rupees from gras near the water
enter chest house
2x 5 rupees of chest
2 rupees from gras near the hill
save

Segment 5:

enter lost woods
escape the forest
talking to owl
peahat superslide to lake hylia
walking/swimming to fishing house thing
golden scale early
get bottle with letter
enter zora's domain
show letter to king zora
king zora cutscence
back to lake hylia
collect bugs
get scarecrow's song
walk to the owl
fly to hyrule market
enter Temple of Time
DoT skip
cutscence
save

In my speed test I needed a time about:

0:35 for segment 4
1:55 for escaping the forest
1:30 to lake hylia
0:25 to the fishing house
1:00 for getting the golden scale
5:05 for getting the bottle, king zora cutscence, scarecrow's song and entering ToT

altogether this is a time about 10:30. kazooie needed a time about 10:45 for this.

maybe I timed wrong, so my route is still slower. however, this route is easier and still improvable, especially segment 4. probably it's faster to get some rupees from lake hylia
if we didn't split segment 4+5 up, we would save again about 10seconds.

what do you think?
He's back!

I don't think it would be faster because it will be night time by the time you talk to the owl in LH.
boss
I timed it way back to compare to the current route and it always ended up being slower. I also tested if getting the silver scale would be faster but that ended up being a failure too.
Merry Chrismas =)
hmm, ok
I don't know, what I timed wrong, but probably your right. it was just a idea, I had today.

hmm, I'm pretty sure, it will be day by the time I talk to the owl, but I've never tested it  Wink
boss
IIRC you could make it before nighttime but it ended up slower anyway.
Merry Chrismas =)
but the weird thing is, that I tested it myself and I was faster.
how big where the differences between the segments?
boss
10s+. I tested both with heavy save-stating, so you could say I compared two nearly optimal routes.
Merry Chrismas =)
ok, thanks.
now I know what my mistake was. I compared my times with kazooie's time and he did some mistakes, so mine was faster.

where did you get your rupees from?
I've finally finished segment 18 of my 100% speedrun!

Let me know if you can find any route improvements. I don't think there are, but it's possible.

...?

Ahh, finally!
It's good to see that you haven't given up on this, and this segment looked awesome!
Didn't look like there could have been that much improvement, i definately think this is a keeper.

About the superslide direction trick posted last page, I've been practicing it a lot and I can do it consistently now.  I do think it can be used in speedruns, but mainly just for Hyrule crossing (market - LH/GV should definitely use it).  It takes a bit of practice, but once you get it, its easy.
A few questions:

1) how exactly do you do the new superslide trick. It looks like I could use it in my speedrun at some point.

2) I've been trying for so long to watch Bloobiebla's all temples TAS. I'm sure there's plenty of useful tricks done in that TAS that I could use. I think the problem is I don't have the correct input plugin. I need a TAS input plugin 6.0 or something like that. If I can just download that from the internet, that'd be great.

If not, is it possible someone could upload this to Youtube? It was on Youtube at one point but was quickly removed for some reason.

Thanks.

At first I was confused about that too because comicalflop didn't explain it that well.  While supersliding and holding Z and R, tilt the control stick down just slightly (I do it a little better if is has a slight tilt to down-left or down-right), about as much as you would for the sideways roll for DoT skip, maybe a little less.  Now let go of Z and R without letting go of the control stick tilt.  You will now travel in a circle for about 2 seconds at a high speed.  While doing this, press Z again, still not letting go of your tilt and you should do it.  If you let go of your tilt at any time after releasing Z and R, you will loose the slide.  Hope I helped.

Wow, turning superslides is really easy, and fun. Nice find comicalflop Smiley

That's it? Wow I was not doing anything near how it's done. Won't be long until someone does an extended superslide through the desert on console. This trick could save some time by aiming for the bridge to Kakariko then steering to the right in the Forest Escape segment (any%). What about BrianMp's 100% in progress? I forget how the fences are laid out from Koikiri to Gerudo Valley. I guess I should actually try to aim this ESS acuratly before sugesting improving prior really tuff segments though...

But awesome find Comicalflop and Swordless!

The problem is, I can't redo a lot of segments because the time of the days won't match up. If I redid one segment, I'd have to redo the next one and the next one and the next one. I do plan on using it for future segments or if at the end on my run I have like 30 seconds left for a sub 6:00.

If you want a video of it by BKDJ there was one posted a while back. Thats what I used to watch it. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7264&start=260 its the 6th post down on this page

The input plugin is available to if you want to try that before downloading this encode. http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?nkj9ettbja2
I'll give the input plugin a try and see what happens. Thanks.

And here's segment 19:

Now I won't have to revisit any of the Dungeons as an adult!
And in case you're wondering, collecting all the GS's in DC as a kid saves about 6 minutes!
Quote from Spider-Waffle:
Has anyone tried to find a way to get fishing pond without getting the scarecrow?  Wouldn't that save a lot of time?  I'm thinking something like the way you can get to shadow as child without anything but shield.  ie super slide of enemy and warp up somewhere.  And what about the superslide downhill that takes you into the ground, maybe swim up to fishing pond after getting in the wall?  And there's that spin attack jump/warp trick, acute angle stuff, and you have a hookshot.  It seems like there's a lot strange glitches to take advantage of in this game.

We can do that with the good ol' fashioned bomb hover, but we wouldn't have bombs at the point i think
Merry Chrismas =)
that's the problem.
many people tryed to find a way to get up there without bombs and were so close to do it.

maybe somebody will find a way someday
