If some of these things are out of the questions and only done for entertainment value then what's the point of getting all the skulltulas? Why, because Radix said so? And if you followed Radix's words to be the law then why can't you accept the fact that 100% includes ALL heart pieces.

What the hell are you talking about?
I don't care if the runner includes a 37th heart piece in the run. Maps and Compasses are just ridiculous.
welcome to the machine
I would define 100% of a game as, if not already defined by the game itself, achieving the maximum possible rankings.  If there are none, by doing everything the game keeps track of.  Including opening every chest.  Including visiting every room to blue it in on the map.

Just be glad I'm not Radix.

That would also be my definition of 100%. I personally think it would be fun to watch that. Cheesy

Not trying to be one sided about this...but by doing that you pretty much lose all the stuff that made sub 3 great and most of the 100% speedtricks are lost.
And getting all the skulltulas doesn't? When i said that all compasses and maps should be gotten, i was refering to the original comparison people made about filling up everything in the menu and that includes both on the world map and dungeons. Personally i rather get the 37th heart and skip all the skulltulas and still be able to achieve 20 hearts.

no, that adds to the strategy.... I'm sure I'd like to see a 50 skulltula one just because choosing which ones to get also has major strategy... however, these are quest status items and are obviously something that is included for a 100%. Without question. Also the 37th hp... I'd say it's liek a 107% or something you know, but whatever, it is possible to get and counts as having it so you should get it. Dungeon items that aren't on the equipment, QS Items, etc. like the maps (though can be seen on them as maps, aren't seen as items persay) are not necessary... that's goes into the little things, like say there was a game where when you killed an enemy that was it, it was gone... you shouldn't have to kill all the enemies, just as you shouldn't HAVE to see blue in every room. Granted, a game that shows your percentage which actually changes when more rooms are shown have a different grading for 100%, that should go w/out saying. Radix has stated what 100% should and does mean, now... any discrepencies and minor things that are kind of undefined... that is fine to discuss and ask for alterations and/or clearcut rulings on the issue, but wasting space in a 100% topic w/ bickering as to what 100% means is retarded (when it is defined) and strays away from productive conversation towards finding and developing strategies, etc, for the run. This isn't our personal site so we go by the rulings regardless. (sorry if I sound lie I'm ranting)
I believe that if don't collect all the maps and compasses, then your not technically collecting 100% of the items.
The extra heart peice was not intended to be collected, its more a glitch in tricking the game. i believe that it should'nt be obtained for that reason.

Just my 2 cents

I don't want to be discouraging, but I don't believe a 100% run will ever work out for this game due to the zillion possible definitions for 100%
He's back!
Which is why I don't want to do it.

Well, If 100% means filling up the pause menu (which is pretty much what radix said), then you'd need these items:

kokiri sword
master sword
biggoron sword
deku shield
hylian shield
mirror shield
kokiri tunic
goron tunic
zora tunic
kokiri boots
iron boots
hover boots

deku stick
deku nut
bomb
slingshot
ocarina of time
bombchu
boomerang
lens of truth
Magic Bean
Empty bottle 1
Empty Bottle 2
Empty Bottle 3
Empty Bottle 4
fairy bow
longshot
megaton hammer
Fire Arrows
Ice Arrows
Light Arrows
din's fire
farore's wind
nayru's love

Zelda's Lulaby
Epona's song
Saria's song
sun's song
Song Of Time
Song Of Storms
Minuet Of Forest
Bolero Of Fire
Serenade Of Water
Requiem Of Spirit
Nocturne Of Shadow
Prelude Of Light

Kokiri's Emarald
Goron's Ruby
Zora's Sapphire
Light Medallion
Shadow Medallion
Spirit Medallion
Water Medallion
Fire Medallion
Forest Medallion

Double Heart Fairy
Spin Attack/magic meter
Stone Of Agony
Gerundo Card
100 gold skuttulas
Golden Scale
Giant's Wallet
Biggest Bomb Bag
Biggest Quiver
Biggest Bullet Bag
Deku Stick Upgrades

8 Heart Containers & 36 heart pieces

I might have missed some, i'm not sure. Also, i only added the necessary, not the other inferior items such as fairy ocarina or silver scale.

You have missed a 37 heart piece Wink It certainly fills a space in the inventory...
But, as i said, it's completely useless, so i fail to see the logic with taking it other than "filling pause screen". Which doesn't correspond to rules from FAQ.

If it wasn't intended for you to get it then it wouldn't be needed for 100%, and getting it would be for speed purposes (just like the 101% in MP2). Since it saves no time at all, and it's useless, then it wouldn't be picked.

Glad someone agrees with me.   Wink
Maybe a 100% and 200% game? 100% being only items that improve your characters abilities (50 skulltulas, not all the medallions and stuff necessary, only 36 hearts). 200% having a full item menu, like all the skulltulas, dungeon maps and compass, 37th heart piece, etc.
There can only be one 100% category. That's why radix rejected 200% runs (items & scans) on metroid primes.

What i consider 100% is collecting every main quest item, all skulltulas, and all the items/weapons which once collected they stay in your inventory.

Agreed. Also, a 200% runs makes problems with veryfying, gives confusion to first timers who want to watch a run on OoT, and it's mainly boring, cause all speedruning tricks are mostly removed.
Though, there's still a problem with 37 heart piece....
Someone should just ask radix about that 37th heart piece and about maps/compasses to put this problem aside already Tongue

Easiest way of solving this all-time mystery Tongue
No the Quail is not riding the Q
This is just about as stupid as the Ganon's Tower nonsense. Getting 100 hundred skulltulas would take an incredible amount of strategy as would a 50 skulltula run. The fact that many only come out at night should atleast hint at that.

Getting the maps and compasses is just a meaningless task.

37th heart Piece? If we found another heart piece in Majora's Mask should we remove the current run?

The night time skulltulas shouldn't be too much of a problem once we get the sun's song. Still, between getting all items, all heart pieces, all skulltulas and using the tricks from the sub-3 hour run you need one hell of a strategy.
Well, unlike collecting the missile launcher twice or getting the same gold skulltulla token 100 times, this heart piece is the exact same as any other heart piece; it's just in a weird place, and we only get it once.  If you can skip this, then logically you should be able to skip another one and get this one.  We do get into Gerudo Fortress as a kid through completely legitimate methods so I don't see why this one counts less than the one where you have to jump into the river and climb a ladder.  I know no one wants any of the other heart pieces skipped so I think just getting it keeps things consistent.  Plus, it's just a few seconds in a run that will probably be around 7 hours long.  That's not exactly the biggest loss in the world time wise.
All these Ocarina of Time runs(100 % completion..or just completing it)...are they with glitches? I played this game so much back in the day...and i want to go back and start playing again...and perhaps try to compete although unlikely ill ever win cause there are so amazing people on this site for this game. I knew a couple glitches, but not many. The backwalking thing i have done in the past...or side hop so that isnt new..however i never really used it in temples(do you guys?)So can anyone give me so info..lol. Smiley
The thing thought is, we were not ment to go to gerudo's fortress as a child, so we were never ment to get that heart piece. If we were not ment to get it, then why should we? If it doesn't save the minutes it takes to pick it up then why should we bother at all?
