radix has final say. the rules are absolute. you are not allowed to leave the map. please see metroid prime secret worlds for reference if you do not understand this distinction.
i will be putting the run on archive so everyone can still see it.
So, didn't you already have a deku tree without the skip recorded yautja? I believe you did. Just use that instead for your deku tree segment, right (unless something else doesn't match up)?
In programming ways you aren't leaving the room in the skulltulla trick; it's not really like MP's secret worlds. If nothing else, it seems most comparable to the barrier skip in Ganon's Castle; what's the meaningful difference between those two tricks? For that matter though, what's the difference between the barrier skip and the secret worlds? It all seems very similar to me; a clear line on standard rules, separate catagory, and flat illegal would be nice.
Hmm, that might be a site suggestion. At the very least, there should be clear communication on glitch rulings before runs are submitted. The forum discussion suggested in the rules clearly failed here as everyone equated it with the barrier skip in terms of legality. Rulings on glitches before submission are somewhat essential to runners of games like OoT where the question of which glitches you use is nothing but the question of where the line is.
with secret worlds, you step in areas outside the regular areas you can normally be on.
in the barrier skip, you are still inside an intended area of the game, even with no textures and all.
it's a shitty minor detail but minimal things like these kill runs (skipping the Echo visor to save time in mp2 just requires like 15 seconds of SW use, yet that is forbidden due to the SW itself. that's comparable to the skulltula skip in deku tree)

Yeah I have, but I wont use that, I'll just redo the deku tree (again) using the golden skulltula to do the moat skip.
And about the boundary violations... I'm going to make videos of all tricks that I use that might be a boundary violation, show them to Radix just to be sure. I'm talking stuff like Gerudo Training Ground as a kid.
heh, I don't think that is what the problem was Yauty. Fluffy went into the void in his segment when he did that trick. Let me go check yours again to see if it's okay.

It can't be, I did the same thing.
Edit: Oh, you are refering to the gerudo trick, if so I don't think it it a boundary violation... I hope you're right.
of course it is, you never go through walls even, just slide through a crack. That trick isn't even in question.
nonono, Im refferring to the one in Deku. DJS asked about the one in shadow in the post before this, but it seems to be deleted, which confused you hehe.
What still bothers me is that I can't do this. I'm not really outside the map or in a void, am I? This trick would save some sweet time in my run and I hope someone can tell me why it isn't allowed.
Yeah, just because it is black space when the intended textures have been loaded means it is probably ruled as 'the void' even if there is water there. IDK I don't make the rulings.
Oh and Yautja, mind hooking me up w/ a link to that Deku segment that is in question so I can check it out?
I can't believe fluffy's run was rejected, I was sure that trick was "OK'd", but whatever, Radix has final say. So what does this mean for his run? Can he still re-submit but just redo that segment?
After much trouble with the rolling goron, I have finally recorded an awesome segment 33. There were not a single real mistake in the entire segment which I am very proud of.
I now have 56 skulltulas, 11 hearts, 2 pieces of heart.
Excellent. I'm failing at counting skulltullas, but I'm fairly certain that 56 is either as many as or more than you're supposed to have(though more than doesn't make sense) so it's all good.
Segment 34 done. There were a few minor mistakes that cost me 5 seconds tops, so overall it's a very good segment. Oh and I now have 58 skulltulas, with same amount of hearts/hp's.
Now I need to sit down and try to plan the forest temple. I'm pretty sure it will be done in 3 segments.
Segment 35:
Get the first skulltula and the key in the first room.
Go straight though the main room, getting a skulltula along the way.
Get the key from the stalfos battle.
Play song of time to remove the block in the main room and enter the courtyard.
Perform a mega jump to the ledge the dead hand room is on.
Grab the skulltula on the wall up there.
Go all the way to the twisted corridor and set a farore's wind warp there, then go get the bow.
Kill the red poe.
Kill the blue poe and return to the fw warp point.
Untwist the twisted corridor and get the boss key, after that, end the segment.
Segment 36:
Use a hover boost to reach the green poe room from the main room.
Kill the green poe.
Exit the green poe room though the other exit and get the other skulltula in the second courtyard, then end the segment.
Segment 37:
Kill the purple poe and descend to the boss chamber, grabbing the last skulltula along the way.
