Whichever quality setting you're using on your DVD recorder, it's halving the horizontal resolution - not good for D1 video. Try the next higher quality setting on your recorder and post videos from that.

record using at least sp and you should be ok.
Probably noob question, whats sp?
SP stands for standard play, and is a holdover from VHS recordings where you could change the speed of recordings in order to record more footage on a given VHS tape at the cost of quality. With DVD recorders, it is merely a silly way of selecting quality.

Somewhere in your DVD recorder's menus there should be a setting for quality, and you should set it to at least SP so that you can record at full resolution.

My recorder has three settings, while none are standard play I think I understand what you mean. So this time I turned it up a setting, while the highest setting is awful, this is the middle quality, may as well check and see if it is good enough. This came out better then expected (although for me to say that you have to at least see video, so my last one was fine ;)) but I leave it to you guys if you think it's good enough or if I'm still missing something.

EDIT: By what I read in the log, the frame size (which killed the other test) is fixed, but the frame rate drops to about 50.

those look good.

Ignore that. I'm pretty sure it's just a measure of how fast anri/dgindex scanned through the dvd vob files. It would make sense that it's slower than before since there is twice more resolution (352x480 => 720x480). I could be completely wrong though. The "Frame Rate: 29.970030 fps" is what matters.
