Everything's better with Magitek
The dates of the summer marathon have changed since I made the old sign-up thread, so I'm making a new one.  That means this is now the official sign-up thread.  So even if you signed up in the previous thread, you MUST post in this one or you won't be added to the list.

Please post here only if you're likely to come to the marathon.  I'd like to start putting together a schedule soon, so also list which games you would be able to run along with time estimates.

For reference, the summer marathon will be held August 4-6 at my house, which is about 20 minutes away from the Salt Lake City, Utah airport.  Feel free to arrive the day before (the 3rd) and leave the day after (the 7th).

As for me, I was thinking about running Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep.  I could either do all three stories (spread throughout the marathon), or there could be a bidding war for which story I run.  I'm kind of liking the bidding war idea better.

Darkwing Duck:  Definitely coming

Games:

Startopics (1:30) with the added challenge of Bananwing Duckola the second, or Banana Cream Piewexil.
Darkwing Duck (30:00 for now.  Will amend when I start practicing the game again)
Tetris Attack (10:00 {that's even without practice, since someone has my game right now.  Tongue })
If needed, which is unlikely, I may be able to do E.V.O.  This is only if we need time filler as I'm not sure how ready the game will be by August.  I'll give a very generous time estimate to account for many things in a possible marathon run.  1:15.

As mentioned, I can help with travel arrangements and picking people up.  I know a lot of people at SDA like Korean food, and I know a good place about 20 or so minutes from Essentia as well.

Oh, and I don't need sleeping arrangements.
Tranquilite: Definitly Coming
I can run VVVVVV 100% or any% ( or both :P)
Super Metroid (only if you feel like you need it and nobody else wants to do it, I can do 100% in a two hour block)
Maybe something else. Maybe not.
No sleeping arrangements required, as I am located in Utah and like my own bed.
Copy and paste time!

I'm almost 100% sure I can make it to this. I live here in Utah, so it should be easy to make it. I'm not sure if I'll need a room or not; It'd be easier to just stay at the marathon the whole time, but if there isn't room then that's fine. I could play:

Super Mario 64 16 Star run (~45 minutes)
LittleBigPlanet 2 (~ 2 hrs)

and with practice, I could maybe race Arrow in a Katamari game, or two.

Also, Opario and I have talked about doing a co-op Portal 2 run, but we will have to do some practice before committing to that one.

romscout: Most Likely coming

Games (basically in order of preference):
Portal - 0:30 lenient estimate, will probably be able to offer in-bounds or OoB route donation option
Castlevania: SotN - 0:35 if I royally screw up everything in the game a million times... it's a super easy run though and I'll probably be hitting somewhere between 30-32 minutes in reality.
Mega Man X - lost cart after AGDQ, but 0:45 safe estimate due to save screens if running MMXC version is ok.
Kirby Super Star - 1:10 solo to be super safe, if JMan comes then 1:00 co-op to be safe.
Super Mario World - 0:15 lenient estimate, doing this only because we need more Mario :3 (plus I need to prove I can actually run it since I'm 0/2 on playing it as scheduled at marathons so far!)
Portal 2 - it's new and popular, I just need more time to work on it, and I will definitely get a lot of that when the school semester ends. Right now I can say a 1p run would probably be somewhere between 90-120 minutes. I'm holding off on a co-op run for now because Obikashi and I plan to do one at the main marathon in winter.
Fallout 3 - 1:00 safe estimate, super easy run of a game that's pretty popular, but would be commentary-driven. If you had to cut one from my list, this should be the first to go.

Other games I can run under certain circumstances:
Castle Crashers: I noticed Feasel mentioned running this, so I'm willing to hop in on this for co-op, and if JMan and UraniumAnchor (or maybe someone else, even?) came then we could have up to 4p again if we wanted. We beat our 1:40 estimate at the last marathon, but I'd slate it for 1:45 just to be super safe this time and because we don't have the game's actual speed runner with us this time. :p
Kirby & the Amazing Mirror: I need to bug my dad to send me the Cube still, but that'll be easy enough. I only want to run this as a co-op run if Sir VG is coming to the marathon. To be safe, put it at 0:45 including setup.

I'm willing to help with anything you need for setting up the marathon, Essentia. Scheduling, charity-related stuff, anything at all. Just let me know. Also, I realize that running 7-9 games would make me somewhat of a schedule hog, so we can cut stuff as needed.

puwexil: definitely coming

I can do Kingdom Hearts II Any% (not confident enough that I'll be able to SS Illusion of Gaia by August to commit), though since that's a ~5 hour run that we just did at AGDQ, I'm fine with just being in reserve in case someone has to drop out or we otherwise end up needing more games to fill time; and otherwise helping with commentary, donation tracking, on-camera humiliation (if I "win" the bidding war with Darkwing Duck Smiley ), cooking, etc.  I'd be up for some Utah sightseeing too before or after the marathon, since I've never been there before.

Edit: Maybe we could do some BBS multiplayer matches after the single-player story (especially if UltraJMan and/or RaneofSoTN are there to make it an epic 3/4-way brawl)?

UltraJMan: 2011-04-28 06:38:20 am
It's time for some HEErooooOOOOHi cs!
UltraJMan: Most likely coming

Games I could run:
Ninja Gaiden - 16:00-18:00 minutes depending on how well the game plays me this time :p
Kirby Superstar Co-op w/ Romscout - About 1:00:00 provided we both make it up there, which we should
Hard Corps Uprising - 39:00-40:00 as Sayuri, will post estimates of others soon, all would be NG+ on Rising Mode for time constraints, though I could POSSIBLY work on an arcade run. We'll see. Donations for character selection would be cool.

Maybe list:
Star Tropics 2 - 1:10:00-1:15:00 pending on luck and how many things go wrong, need to work on this so it's a maybe still
Ninja Gaiden 2 - 14:00-16:00 minutes, not a set estimate but we could use some more ninja love. Still marking as a bit of a maybe.
Castle Crashers - Always willing to jump in on some co-op Castle Crashers, bidding wars for gorilla tape this time? Haha.
Kirbay and the Amazing Mirror - I could do practice on an emulator for this, I'm not sure how long a 3 player route would be, but I'll talk to Rom and VG about this.
Deadly Premonition - No ball-park estimate, but I'm assuming on NG+ conditions with some cutscenes this could make around 3:00:00-3:45:00 graveyard shift. Donations for so many cutscenes, I will be working on this game very soon so I'll get back to you guys.

I can't be there for that, so while I can offer assistance beforehand, I can't do a run at the summer marathon.  Sorry.  It would be under 30 minutes though for 2P-4P.
berserker status
I'm still interested in coming.  Put me down for 'definitely coming'.

Games I could run:

Vagrant Story, Paperboy, Double Dragon 3, and Kagero:  Deception 2.  Maybe some Marble Mardness and others I can get up to speed with.

I don't have any estimates, but I could provide some figures soon.  I wouldn't mind helping in the kitchen or something as I'm technologically inept.  =D

The Speedrunning Teacher
Zyre: Definitely coming (won't need sleeping arrangements), but will only make it for sure all day Thursday and Friday morning. I could be there possibly all day Friday and Saturday afternoon/evening as well, but that depends on whether I'm going to Idaho or not. Tongue I'll know within the next month for sure.

Games I can run (estimated time):
Sonic 3D Blast - Genesis 00:40, Saturn 00:50
Decap Attack - 00:45
Dynamite Headdy - 00:50? I'll get an estimate later today.
Rocket Knight - 00:45 (Let's see if I can beat my JRDQ time Tongue )
Rocket Knight Adventures - 00:40 (I'll work on getting this down to sub-35)

Maybe list:
Castle Crashers - If a 4th man is needed, I can jump in.
Adventures in the Magic Kingdom - 00:13 - Can use it as part of the 'Disney block'
NES Marios - Haven't played them in a long time, but I can work on them as well.

Also, I have a DVR with HDD that I can bring, along with several systems (NES, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS2, GC w/ Player, Wii, Xbox 360).  Streaming hardware is available as well (1 computer and capture card). If there is anything else I can help with (transportation, food, etc.) let me know.

You can now mark me as definitely coming.

Games I'd like to run:

* Limbo - 0:55  (Would be fun to race with VG if he's coming)
* Castle Crashers - 1:45.  (probably Red Knight/Magic-build)
* Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers - 0:13.

Maybe list:

* Snake Rattle N Roll - 0:15
* River City Ransom - 0:13

(All times include credits and setup.)

There seems to be some interest in Castle Crashers (well, some people have it on their "Maybe" list, at least).  The reason I had suggested Castle Crashers is that I have a Red Knight / magic-build route that, in theory, is faster than Uyama's current strength-build run (though I'm definitely not there yet in terms of execution).  So I had intended to showcase that route.  The route is definitely not something than can be done with other players because of the massive amount of enemy manipulation involved, and the fact that the smaller share of experience would put the magic levels far below what they need to be.

That being said, though, we all sure did seem to like the co-op hack-and-slash free-for-all that was done at the winter marathon.  I wouldn't be opposed to just having 4 of us do that kind of thing again -- it looked like fun.  Perhaps I could do a 1p speedrun of magic-build at the next winter marathon instead.  That would be perfectly fine with me.

@SirVG:  Sorry to hear you can't make it.  Yes, I'd be all about doing a Limbo race.  I guess it depends on whether or not we will have the capacity to race a live person against a streaming person.  (we did that at the winter marathon, right?)
Visit my profile to see my runs!
Because it is definitely now being held from Thursday to Saturday, I'm going to have to downgrade to "Most Likely Coming."  This will definitely not overlap with any of my proposed vacation times, and so I'd have to drive after work Friday unless I have Friday off that week.  And because I imagine that Saturday scheduling will be tight (probably easiest day for others besides myself as well), I don't want to promise I'll be there.

Incidentally, if you ever start making a scheduling preference list: as of now my preference would obviously be anytime Saturday.  [I'll post if that range gets expanded]
SGL Scrublord
Theseawolf1: definitely coming, though they bumped back my return flight back to the 8th. Guess I'll partake in Salt Lake City's many wonders for a day before heading home Smiley

Game's I'd like to Run, Complete with Generous Time Padding
The Guardian Legend (NES): 1:05 (extra pickups for a live run add to my average)
Demon's Crest (100% ending) (SNES): 1:10 (Trio the Pago and the Ice Palace might cost time, so I'll be generous here)

Games I Could Practice for if needed:
Shadowgate (NES): 0:16, (Willing to do it unless ZenicReverie wants to show off his latest work on his run Tongue ) Also, potential late night/bonus 100% deaths run for donations (I'm sure we'll be behind schedule and it'd get old after a while, but you never know)?
The Uninvited and Princess Tomato also fall into this "if we need filler" category, consider it a back up plan. Or perhaps someone else can do one and Deja Vu and we'll create the ultra-boring text adventure block! I'll make routes just in case, but I'd like someone to get back to me if this will really happen.

I'm down for helping on Castle Crashers, though I'm sure we're all jockeying for a spot on that game at this point.

I'll be bringing some unique NJ goodies for a prize giveaway, but I think we'll deal with that more in depth as we get closer.

Waiting hurts my soul...
It doesn't look likely that I'll make it. For a live Shadowgate run there's no chance of dying, so there's not going to be much drama. Would you grab all the items or backtrack for the Sphinx? You could have some fun with it though and challenge yourself not to grab any torches unless your current one is about to die.

Once you receive a riddle from the sphinx, it will always give you the same riddle until you answer it correctly. This has been my experience at least.

Most likely coming, just trying to shop around for tickets.

Games I would like to run:

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - 45 minutes
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (not sure on run type/estimate yet) - under an hour
Castlevania: Harmony of Despair - under an hour

Could possibly run:

Shantae: Risky's Revenge
Miner Dig Deep - 2 hours

I'll be bringing my tripod and camcorder for ds capture. The camera uses s-video, so it'd need a capture card with a working s-video input.

Can also try to help run stuff if necessary.

What is the proposed length of the marathon?  72 hours, or 48 as I thought was originally discussed?

I only ask because a lot of people (judging from the previous thread) want to run like 5-10 games, and that to me is kind of pushing it unless the games are all on the rather short side.
Everything's better with Magitek
Well, the plan was for it to be 48 hours (start Thursday evening and end Saturday evening), but I'm realizing that's not a whole lot of time.  We could maybe extend it by about 12 hours by starting earlier on Thursday (around noon) and ending late Saturday (midnight).  Even then, we probably won't be able to include every game that everyone wants to run.

I have a Dazzle with an s-video input that I could bring, though I'm guessing there should be a couple among Essentia and the other Utahan runners.

I've got a Dazzle as well if needed. We need to make a hardware thread so we can have a Plan C for everything we need.

Zenic: Like I said, I'd only bother if we somehow needed another game (unlikely) and blocked it somewhere. Just got Shadowgate on the brain right now, hehe
I also have a Dazzle, if it's needed, and a 12 way lossless video/audio splitter box (takes one signal, splits it into 12. You won't need 12, but still!) that could be used.

Oh also, a little update: I can't actually run LittleBigPlanet 2, as I won't have access to a PS3 at all over the summer, as it turns out.

I simply put everything I CAN run or feel comfortable running. I'm sure I'll only be running 3-4 of those games.

P.S. since we're mentioning equipment, I am willing to bring a Dazzle, splitter, and XBox 360 if needed. Hopefully someone has a laptop that can run Portal 1+2 without issue because I vastly prefer running the PC versions and I'm not bringing my desktop with me. :x

My feelings on The Demon Rush
Essentia: You should have Wednesday be a setup day, especially if you're starting the marathon at noon on Thursday.

Feasel: I have no idea how the Red Knight with magic is faster than a strength build because boss fights are a lot slower, and you have to line up enemies to group them. If you want to go over some potential improvements over my run, we can talk about it in the CC topic or via PM.

So I'm going to say something now about capture cards, just in case. Based on the sheer amount of time spent setting up the winter marathon, I'm going to suggest that if you're going to bring a capture card you should be prepared to have your laptop stream with it. It is so much easier to just use your existing setup rather than try and configure everything for the capture card again on another computer (because it never works out exactly like it should!).
