Hi,
I'm trying to run JoeQuake only for fun, and I wanted and greatly appreciate if you can give me tips about HOW to do this grenade jump...

Damn, It's hard, I've been trying for 40 minutes and so far i've reached about 3/4 of the total height needed.

There's also a grenade jump at the necropolis you know when you get the key in a water place and then zombies start to appear.....well, this one.

Thanks a lot.

I suppose what you may be missing is the fact that slopes also increase your jumping height.

On both maps you show, there is an upward slope you need to use in combination with the grenade in order to succeed with the jump.

The e1m3 one is simple enough. You just have to walk one of the slopes and jump at the same time as the grenade explodes. It requires timing of course.

e1m4 is not very different, although I would say it is the most annoying grenade jump in all of tRR. I have read somewhere that a combination of things is required to succeed; grenade explosion, the slope, a jump, and a push from the water surface. I can't really say if the water surface thing is for real or not, but either way, you are going to need very good timing at the surface, with the slope (from underneath the water), and with the grenade.

I was aware of the slope jump in grizzly. Thanks.
But the problem in the second picture, is that I can't even get the grenade on the little square (where the key is), it ALWAYS rebounce because of the slope and it then fell in the water.

Oh, and what does trr mean?
Hey Ho Let's Go
A grenade will stick to the slope if you throw it downwards against the slope.

tRR = the Rabbit Run
Ah okay, i'll try it.

Running to quake...
You can practice the e1m3 slope jump intensely for the contest Smiley
Uh?!?!
What contest, when, how.

In fact, link request Grin

I'm practicing R1 to death now.......but i'm playing maxspeed 500 cause 320 looks slow to me.
Hey Ho Let's Go
This is the Quake section of the SDA forum, I suggest you check out the Quake section of the SDA website to find the contest... It's really not that hard!  Smiley

It doesn't matter if i can't go as fast as qdq or sth like that?!?!

I ain't fast without sv_maxspeed but i can always try, and this competition is only for the 1st episode, cause here i only got the shareware but my full version is at my girlfriend's house so i can arrange myself on that.

Thanks for the answer.

EDIT: How do I install the .bsp file I can'T make it to work.
Mumma
Since the contest map only contains episode 1 monsters and sounds I guess you might theoretically be able to run it. Put the map in quake/ID1/maps and start it as you would any other map in quake.

And don't change sv_maxspeed, at least not while recording a demo that you intend to send to SDA. It is against the rules!
I'm aware of the sv* thing, but i never installed any new maps on quake and thats why i'm asking how it works.
